lifter ticking at start up the goes away after a few minutes is not uncommon on these older VG engines.

Need to perform the ABS light diagnostic proceedure to find out what error code it is picking up. Then you can start to figure out what the issue is.

That is VERY disturbing Precise.... Back to the thread.....silverton is correct. The O2 sensor on the WD21 can be bad and not trigger an error code on the ECU. The ECU only registers a fault on the O2 sensor if the singal is outside the established specs. 0.5 Volts +/-0.2 is nominal for the 02 sensor signal to the ECM. As long as the signal the ECU is receiveing from the O2 sensor is within that range the ECU thinks everything is fine. However they can wear out and 'stick' at say....0.55V and read that constantly, so the ECU will not flash a check engine light and will accept the input...... and make the truck run like pooo

Looking at the ABS wiring schematic.... both brake and ABS light on constantly can be: ABS relay (engine bay) ABS Fuse (under LH dash) Parking brake switch

That is correct on a WD21. Good point made here, no telling when/how old the brake fluid in the truck is.

hmmm...I see you went into 4L out of curiosity, go 2H-4H, then to neutral. shift to 4L, but back in drive, go forward 20 feet or so, then stop shift back to neutral and shift to 2H. After switching back to 2H, put the truck in reverse and back up at least 10 feet. See if that clears the light out.

Keep an eye on it. If if keeps loosing fluid you need to hunt down the reason.

Those are the connectors for the ABS diagnostic/serviceport. They are supposed to be like that.

It sounds like it is chokeing out from lack of fuel or air when you make a turn and the weight shifts forward and to the side. Check the connection to the Mass air flow Sensor. It is on the Venturi chamber on the VG30i. Since you are in a Baja there is lots of dust there right? Fuel filter could be clogged causing low fuel pressure. I would also look at every vacuum hose on the motor to make sure they are not cracked or split on the ends starting with the ones to the fuel pressure regulator.(back of the venturi chamber) Lastly, check your engine and battery grounds. You can also download the Factory Service Manual here on this site, it has some nice trouibleshooting step by steps that might get you going int he right direction or at least eliminate some possibilities.

Most cylinders were between 170-175 psi but one (#6) read about 157. At 170 then 157 is within tolerance. However, the cylinder miss when reving down makes me think before injector of: 1) spark plug 2) distributor cap and rotor 3) fuel filter

I mounted mine behind the rear drivers side tail light access panel!

The Fronty with the 4.0L should do you well, just watch the rear axle assembly for loosing fluid out the axle seals and cratering the differential on you. (If you kill the differential Mr Nissan lovingly makes you get an entire new rear end, cant get just the diff) If you see the seals leaking get them replaced before it goes bad. We had a few more with that problem back then that I cared to see. Looks like that blue one is an SE package?

For North American WD21 and R50..... They should all have the low fuel light......it just comes on when you are bascially out of fuel. IF in proper working order, it supposed to come on at 3 gallons left of total fuel in the fuel tank and about 2.5 gallons usable fuel that the pump can suck up. That low of a level of fuel on a WD21 will be at about 3mm below the lowest white mark on the fuel gauge. (if it is working properly) Most of us fuel up before that point! To make yours go on and see that it does indeed work...run your tank down to the white line, and then put it on a steep incline, the guage will drop way low and the light will come on. As noted, on the WD21 it does not cycle when you turn the key on...I dont know why. I am unsure on the R50. I would note that on our vehicles....they are old and have lots of particulates that have collected in the fuel tanks and on the sender units in the fuel tanks over the years.

I agree. As far as squeeking goes, I have never really had a problem with that. I always use a generous amount of the grease they come with and guess thats the trick!
