Could also be the wiring for the sending unit. It tends to corrode and weaken at the tank, which could increase resistance and make the gauge read wrong.

The same exact thing happened to me. The timing belt is too tight. If you leave it that way it can snap the end off one of the cams.

95 3.0 4x4 auto transmission problems
88pathoffroad replied to okc_madness's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
That's the power steering reservoir. You may be missing the dipstick if you still can't find it. That's no fun! Hold on, I'll go take a picture... Mine's an older version, but the dipstick is in the same place. It's tough to tell on these automatics whether they'll live or die when they reach the point where reverse begins slipping. Generally speaking, when it starts to slip in reverse it's fairly well shot already and forward gears will probably go next. If the dipstick is missing, you may also have a problem with water or dirt/dust in the trans fluid, which REALLY doesn't help. You'd be best off to get an external cooler and change the fluid to begin with. Then see if reverse performance improves before taking long road trips in it. You probably don't want to be stranded 400 miles from home with a blown transmission that costs +/- $2000 to rebuild or replace. -
Generally speaking, misfires indicate a bad coil on that cylinder from what I've seen. I don't think the trans codes have anything to do with the MAF.

Drill new holes and bolt it up lower on the fenderwell.

If I get new tires any time soon, I think I'll be going with some 31's for on-road and light off-road use. 33's just don't make driving fun, I've always been disappointed with the mileage and power loss and I wanna be able to drive the Pathy anywhere without regrets. Flooring it to go up hills in the mountains and on the sand dunes just isn't as satisfying as getting juice when you want it.
-
It came from my factory service manual. It was a present from a friend who found it on Ebay. Airflow through the throttlebody is essential to MAF operation, you definitely don't want to randomly grind stuff off on the inside. I would say that smoothing out any casting flash and making it shiny wouldn't hurt though.

And? Was there some sort of point to that remark? So are Swampers...
-
If it ain't broke, don't fix it? There's no change interval for those, if they need it then they should be replaced.
-
A snorkel is important if you plan on going into deep water, period. Personally, I'd rather not take the chance of ruining my engine so I either measure puddles with a stick first or just plain avoid them.

The mixture heater only runs on a cold start, to aid in warm-up and emissions. Yeah, mine runs worse in cold weather. After it warms up, no problem. One thing I regret doing was tossing my AB valve. Anti-backfire valve. Keep yours.

My intake was all carboned up too. Take a look. Zero EGR function, the EGR passage was completely blocked. TBI, split into main components... FSM page with exploded view.

I've heard bad things in the past about Pro Comp tires. Cheap knockoffs being pushed as BFG's best describes them. Have they improved their quality in the past few years?
-
You can unplug the mixture heater and just tape it up. It won't throw any codes. Here's what my setup looks like. It did seem to give me more juice, but not a lot. There's the mixture heater on the bench inthe background with the center removed. I also trimmed the base flange and belled it outward like a rocket nozzle for better airflow.

It's still there. That's my website hosting it. Sometimes my site seems to disappear for various reasons...I blame the hosting provider. Sorry. http://nissan.damagedreality.com/NissanTransTests.pdf

Wasn't Energy Suspension going to make diff drop bushings for Nissans? Was it Steve at Rugged Rocks that had them? I forget.

As long as the injectors seat properly and you use new o-rings and gaskets it should be fine. No dangers I can think of. There's nothing you can really do to the stock TBI for more power except smooth/port it slightly and polish it. The stock injectors will support a supercharger running 12-15 PSI of boost, so that should tell you something about those...um...one other thing you can do is eliminate the mixture heater or break out the honeycomb...that helps airflow. I made a couple of 3/8" thick spacers (3/4" total) out of UHMWPE plastic but it didn't seem to make any difference. I didn't expect it would, but I had to try. No such thing as a jetting kit for fuel injection, man. That's only on carburetors.
-
Well shoot, you don't run around with all of 'em on all at the same time. Just use what you need. Nice setup on da roof, man! I like to stealth look. Maybe some day I'll be able to get a 4-door in black and do the same kinda thing.
-
Once again, how much space is there under your upper control arm bumpstop?
-
I think you should worry more about getting the pan off first, mate. They're not easy to do.

Yeah, sounds like his hubs are fried and a CV is too. Sorry man.

Here you go:

Yeah yeah yeah. No point arguing about it.

Very cool! Good fab work.

There are no WD21 Pathfinders with 31 spline front axles. They're either 27 for the 4-cylinders and the 86.5-89 V6 or 28 from 90-95. The rear axles are 31 spline though.
