Want to put a CB radio, but where do I start?
RedPath88 replied to Felipe4x4's topic in General Forums
Good question, I'll move it to the General Forums section No problem, it's a simple move Please post up a new intro thread in the New Membes section and don't forget to include some pics of your truck! -
FSM = Factory Service Manual CEL = Check Engine Light

I've read that before too, but I've also used them many times before and have no problem doing it again (though I do prefer the unpainted ones over painted and molded on over all). Their main problem is the way the wire connects to them, they'll corrode over time, but it does take a long time. When it does you just pull the wire out clean both surfaces and bolt it back down. That problem is likely too be true for any terminal that is not molded around the battery cable.

Personally I would shy away from the screw idea as that digs into the battery post. My suggestion as an alternate to that is a penny. Bent it a little to get a curve similar to the post, but not exact. open the clamp up enough to slide it over to post, with the penny between, then tighten it up (open end wrenches work good for this) But the best bet is to buy a new clamp and toss the old one You can get color coaded sets like this for $5-7 and many parts stores such as Napa sell them individually for a few bucks a peice. To make a better connection, pick up a post/terminal cleaning tool (another couple bucks) and clean them, or lightly scratch the post clean with a pocket knife. Then once it's all back together and everything is tight, spray some protector on it to help fight corrosion.

Better late than never huh? Mobile Browsing: Tapatalk, IPS iPhone App & Mobile Skin now available for NPORA Forums.

^^^ That, but I normally bring my breaker bar with me. If I am working on my own truck or need the threads to remain intact on the lugs in the yard, then I put a couple lug nuts on to protect the threads.

And Third is the Forums built in Mobile Skin Of course the standard Mobile Skin (called "IP.Board Mobile") is still available for use. Most mobile browsers will be automatically detected when you load NPORA Forums on your phone. If it does not, then you can change your skin choice using the "Change Theme" link in the lower left corner of any forum page.

Thanks, I just went and corrected some and pruned the dead ones. Seems a number of the forums no longer exist.

With aftermarket and/or remanufactured, it can be hit and miss. My last one came from Schucks (now O'Reilly's) and I've had little problems with it. Don't remember the brand now, but it's a forever warranty unit, which gives you that warm & fuzzy feeling about never having to buy a new one. But sometimes having to replacing them over and over, even when the parts are free, makes you wonder if it's really worth it. Now as I said I've had a good experience with this one, but I've also had lifetime parts (starters included) that I have had to replace often.

Your not using them, you never will be using them. Plug them if it makes you feel better about it, but there is no actual "need" too

PLEASE READ: NPORA Forum Is Moving *Move Complete*
RedPath88 replied to RedPath88's topic in NPORA Announcements
Bottom Line: Search Works Again! ----------------------------------------------------------- Working with IPS and our hosting companies Tech Support departments, it appears that the search issues have een resolved. However, there is something to note regarding some saved links. If you have saved some direct links since we moved the forum to nissanpathfinders.net that were aquired using the forums search function before today, you may need to edit the link (only if it is not working) We'll use the the thread titled "How to: Prevent Fire (clean blower resistors)" as an example Here is the current URL for this thread: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/7466-how-to-prevent-fire-clean-blower-resistors/ If you have a newer style URL (known as a FURL) saved that does not work, then it likley includes invalid character strings at the end of the URL. In this case please delete anything from the URL after the topic description. In the example above, that would be anything after "...clean-blower-resistors/" If that does not work, then you can also try removing "index.php?" from the URL shown here http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?/topic/7466-how-to-prevent-fire-clean-blower-resistors/ (remember to leave only one / between "forum" and "topic" so it would look like "forum/topic" The old style URL's show below should also continue to work correctly, but please not that they will be converted to the newer style, when loading the page. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7466- 28 replies

Is it sitting on the bumpstop? Stripped splines sounds like a possible reason, could have also broke the t-bar completely. Don't happen often, but I have seen it once, on another vehicle.

Bringing an older thread back, because this is an important one

While doing some house cleaning I ran across this thread (and sooo many more dating way back... it's worth it to all members, new and old alike, to adjust the forum filters and start looking back to older threads ) Guess we can add another milestone too NPORA's Evolution
