  1. Yep, main reason is physical size. Fitting the same displacement in 2/3 the length is why they choose the V.
  2. FYI, all Pathfinders had the "4x4" fenders, even the 2wd version. Only the 2wd Hardbody had the smaller bulge fenders.
  3. I had mine in my rack basket for a while, there was one time I drove through a parking garage and the tire was actually rubbing the support beams as I passed under them. Did no damage, but it was kinda nerve racking. I'm thinking of buying a hitch basket for long trips, and throwing my spare(s) on it to clear up interior space since my 93's spare is mounted inside.
  4. Yeah, that picture was when it was "new", I have standard winter blade wipers on it now.
  5. Never had to remove them, the holes are small enough that nothing gets in to be cleaned out.
  6. I did check, my stock one was 70amp. Maybe 93+ had 70 and 92 and older had 60 .
  7. Germans have been using IRS since the 40s, not a shockingly hard technology.
  8. I bought a sheet of the mesh at the hardware store, took my stock grills off and traced them onto the mesh, cut them out, primed, painted and stuck them in place.
  9. 88 had the same issue, they can cause the mount plate protion to twist.
  10. I thought they were 60 too, but the tag had 170 on it, and the Maxima one had 190 on it, so was my assumption it was a 70... Originally I was going to do a Quest unit, but I didn't feel like hastling with the machining work to get it to fit and line up.
  11. My 88 has character, if it didn't I would have kicked it to the curb a long time ago. It isn't my primary vehicle so I can have fun with it.
  12. I made metal mesh ones for my 93, attached them with 3M moulding tape.
  13. My 93 had manual mirrors, windows and locks. I swapped to the heated, power mirrors myself. All the wiring is there from the kickpanel in (basically the defrost switch is already wired to the plug in the kickpanel). It is a shared plug (white) that runs the speaker wires and mirror tilt controls, etc. From there I had no wires, so I went to the J-yard and grabbed the wire bundle from that into the door, it had the power lock and window wiring in the bundle too. I stripped off the power window and lock wires and removed my original speaker only cable and fed the new one (speaker, tilt and heat) into the door and plugged it into the mirror and speakers and plug on the kick panel. I had to add the tilt control joystick to the dash, and the plug connector for it was sitting right behind the blank on the dash.
  14. So, I had bought an alternator from an 80s VG Maxima last summer, and it just sat there collectiong dust. Today I was doing some other work, and had been having charging issues, which were due to a loose alternator belt. I figured while I was under the hood, I would go ahead and do the swap. It is almost totally a direct swap, just need to remove the serpentine pully on it and put the Pathy V-belt pully on it, which is a single nut. The wiring is the same, so it is "plug-n-play" that way. Bolted it in and tested it, I was charging 13.5V at idle like it should, it hasn't charged over 12.5V in the last 2 years, even when the belt was tight! So you go from a 70 amp to a 90 amp without doing any real modifications! Get out there and do it!
  15. Since I have no need to clear space or anything I just went OEM since I already have a mount there for it.
  16. You can put any diameter you want, the width is the issue. 31x10.5 fit fine on them, people have ran 33x12.5 on them, but that is really pushing it since the tire is twice as wide as the wheel.
  17. I have a 94 console in my 88. Here is the 88 and 94 side by side: Yes all the mounts are in the same places.
  18. Those 6s were the best cars ever made by BMW in my opinion.
  19. I doubt they got the years right, the 93 is still a square dash, just slightly different arangement on the cluster and different wire connections.
  20. Good news! Hopefully they didn't take the tools out (fat chance), but at least you will get it back.
  21. Larger wheels won't change anything. Outside tire diameter will be the thing that would be an issue with gearing.
