Nissan pathfinder 94 VG30E engine alternatives
Precise1 replied to lnuxxunl's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I don't know these models but from a moment of research, it seems that it would be one of these, both VQ models. Maybe they do bolt up the same but the other equipment won't so which engine management system are you going to run? I have to agree with Blackspawn and recommend sticking with the VG33. It is 100hp less but still a great motor and will be fairly easy to swap in. B -
Have yoy tried heating them or using a penetrant? B

Yes, that is what fit well on the steel tranny in/out lines. No point is sizing up larger than the outlet or inlet, right? Line pressure is more important than line diameter as I understand it. B

Let's see... Photobucket: http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc110/zyklus/214.jpg B Nope, the above link within IMG brackets tells me

I suspect the CV's as well. The fact that the noise only occurs when the hubs are locked makes me think it is an under load condition. Can you jack it up and see if it does it without load on the drive train? Grass Valley, eh? I lived in Lincoln for a few years and was looking at houses in Auburn for a while. It's raining hard here at the coast, so I can only imagine what the foothills are like right now... B

Howdy, and welcome to NPORA! The first thing you should do is go to the Garage section, and pinned at the top is a thread with links to download the Factory Service Manual (for free). 1994 is the first year, but the vast majority if it still applies (different dash, trim, etc). There is an excellent section on A/T diagnostics in there... Of course, making sure it has good fluid, a cooler and flow is pretty much step one as well. I was under the impression that RockAuto had the lift struts for $20 or something. Do they not ship to Guam? B

Yes. I prefer the wire style clamps over the band clamps for barbed fittings, you should be able to straddle a barb ridge and seal on the flats on either side. As for the hose, I have Goodyear 3/8" (9.5mm) transmission oil cooler hose. It literally says that on it. Good stuff, very thick walled... B

I believe this was due to a minor forum update that had a bug or two. I think Red addressed it. Let me try with my photobucket account to see if that works. Yeah, I get the same thing. That sucks... B

The 1999.0 R50 that we bought with 150k had leaky valve covers and plug wells filled with oil and acorn husks (mice...). A major pain in the arse to clean up, but just now at 171K miles I occasionally get a whiff of burning oil. When the rains stop, I'll go out there with a screw driver to check the valve cover screws again... B

I was looking forward to the next 'just another few weeks' email... I'm talking about them, not you Dowser. Tell them to send back all previous lists, then send the fools the latest one. I just might get this mounted by March! B
-
Ok, good luck... B
-
^agreed!! I do have to say that I've never had oily plugs cause a misfire and I have seen wells filled with 3-4" so you couldn't see the plugs when the wire was removed. That said, it still needs fixing... First, just try tightening them as they vibrate loose and the gaskets shrink, allowing oil to escape. 90% of the time I have found just tightening the screws stopped any leaks. B

exhaust leak before O2 sensor cause engine to run rich?
Precise1 replied to ahardb0dy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I don't get this. A leak is a leak and will dilute the gasses regardless of the distance to the sensor, no? B -
2" spacers would be 50.8mm and insane to run. What exactly are you running and asking information for? B
-
At this point I look forward to the strange in your posts. I'm not good with wiring, but yes, since this is new and after the trailer wiring info (which you didn't mention right away. ), yes you have something crossed. Didn't you think that immediately? B
-
Sweet! I love the easy fixes! B

Yep, rather limp home than be towed, but by description... I remember a discussion years ago about the same thing and the I-beams were the desired items. I haven't been a position to test them, but I might pick up an I-beam set, install them with new bushings and carry an old tube spare if/when I go hard core wheeling. I still drive by the 'if you really break it you are driving the wrong thing or drivind way to hard' motto. In my form of wheeling, you don't get any points for getting stuck or breaking down. Ok, that clears it up. Sorry, I sold the heated mirrors to a Canadian, but I can keep an eye out for you... B
-
Thanks Adam. B

Thanks, good info Bud. I do wonder why you think the 93.5+ are not for wheeling, not much else important was changed that I know of. B

Nissan pathfinder 94 VG30E engine alternatives
Precise1 replied to lnuxxunl's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
The KA24 has the same mounting bolt pattern for the tranny and engine mounts? Besides, by sticking with the VG he can keep all the same systems and controls. Not really, but thanks. You are welcome! 4x4 might not matter, not all the pathfinders were 4x4 but all had the same motor and tranny. As long as it is a VG30 or VG33, you should be golden. No, you don't have to change the cams, it is just considered a mild upgrade from what I understand. Maybe something to consider for the future. B
