1986.5-1987 - 3 speed transmission without overdrive 1988-1995+ - 4 speed transmission with overdrive Manual optional on all years I still don't get why they're referred to as autotragic and what not, they are a good strong transmission, used in many different vehicles and in Pathfinders for at least 12 years. It's only the coolers that ruin them.

That's just the name of the tranny. I don't think it's marked anywhere, I've never looked hard enough at one to see it if it was though

Any RE401A transmission from a 90-95 will work. This transmission was used throughout most of the R50 years as well, however the wiring is different.

Completely bypass the stock unit with at least a 15,000lb aftermarket cooler. If the stock one clogs (and it likely will eventually, and you CANNOT clean it) it renders the aftermarket cooler 100% useless. In that case, you spend X amount of money to destroy your transmission. Last summer I towed jet skis around no problem. I know it's not much, but for a weenie engine it did fine.

I think it's pointless to flush it out unless there is a problem with the system

No that's not normal. It should stay around the 1/4 to 1/3 mark at all times. Is the thermostat stuck? Backwards? To check for flow, turn on your heater to hot. If it's blowing cold air you have a collapsed hose or your thermostat isn't opening or is backwards. Timing: dunno.

Timing belt isn't on 100%, clogged catalytic converter, o2 sensor, clogged vacuum lines...

It's been said before that you don't need a BL to fit 33s if you want to trim the fenders. Some people don't want to trim their fenders, so their option is a 3+3.

That's what mine did. Ran great when it's cold, but when it warmed up the sensor would freak and dump a crap load of gas into it. I used a half a tank of tank of gas in 13 miles. The sensor is in the valley of the block. It was an $800 repair at a local shop. I didn't have time to do it myself, or I would have. I think the sensor its self listed for $56.

Huhm. The only code it throws is the MAF sensor huh. I wonder if it's your ECU Coolant Temp Sensor...

I think if it was the torque converter it would be slipping in all gears. It doesn't know which gear the transmission is in, so it shouldn't make any difference. The place that rebuild your tranny, are they known for using high quality parts or cheap ones to keep the cost down? Like B said, check the condition and level of the fluid...
