1. Many R50s have what’s called a diversity antenna in the front windshield. This is in addition to the whip antenna and is meant to improve signal capture. You can see it running up the midline of the windshield. As an FYI, you can see these in many other vehicles though they often put them in the cargo area side windows (they are those things which look like defrosters on the cargo area windows of 4Runners & other vehicles).
2. You really need to work on your parking. I don’t think you’re doing it right [emoji23]
3. Just for clarity: $250 67” DIY kit [Amazon] $250 Welder@$65/hr assembling kit & welding on truck $500 Total Can you take some pics of the mounting points?
4. Yep, sliders are really critical protection & they can be super handy both for cab & roof access but also as jack points.
5. I’ve used this inexpensive one. It hasn’t bothered my wife & holds an iPad well Seat Bolt Car Mount Tablet Holder for Tablets with Anti-Vibration Goose Neck [Jarv] $25.99 at Amazon
6. Those sliders look nice. Curious, if a Custom Bumper is only $350, what did the sliders cost?
7. Looking good - about time you painted all that steel. The IPFs are right where I ran my 130w KC Slimlight Driving Lights. That’s a great location for a forward driving light. Consider mounting floods at 30-45* angles in that protected lower lateral space (kind of where the fogs are stock). I had the Flood lens of the same 130w KC Slimlights in that location. I just barely overlapped the beam edges & it gave me about 200* of forward light stretching back to about the B pillars. I set it up for desert use when I was in AZ & have always been really happy with it.
8. I’m not entirely sure I follow but I’ll chat about it withTowndawgR50 as we’re likely going to proceed with my retro fit in the next 4-8 weeks. stpickens is working on a table as well but has found the clearance issue limiting. Are those recovery hooks I see mounted to your custom bumper (I note I don’t see them when the bumper is off)?
9. They both look really good. Even with the ‘03’s hood open it took a careful eye to see anything was amiss.
10. Load of limbs & returning the chipper@TowndawgR50 kindly lent me.
11. Ha, Ha it does look like the FJ80 is lurking. Looking forward to seeing it all back on with bedliner. Really excited to see your solution to the RRO slider mounts as mine are waiting on that answer before mounting.
12. Nice work! It’s very interesting to see that new carrier. You might well be the only one on the road in the U.S. I’ve certainly never seen one before.
13. Really interesting to see your long term experience with the retrofit. AZ lends itself to just about the roughest off road driving and your truck has seen some real use (any idea how much time &/or miles). Combined with@TowndawgR50 ‘s experience we now have a real track record on these. He can even show what happens when you abruptly put the weight of the whole truck on the underside of the swingate spare - it dented & tore the metal at the some of the mount locations - but surprisingly little.
14. Front Runner has a system for it. Looks useful (& space saving) but is expensive & made for expensive tables. I’ve thought about jury rigging my own version. I’m more than happy to have you beat me to it - though it does sound like the table may be more useful as a cargo bag protector for you. https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/table-brackets-for-mki-table-incl-latch-rrac097.html
15. Yeah, I meant thin in the low profile, make an under rack slide storage way. I love that setup but the stainless table that do it are $100s which isn’t going to happen.
16. Zack, that table looks pretty thin (I’m thinking under rack mount). Who makes it?
17. I think I’ve seen replicas in Amazon or E-Bay for $50 max
18. Make sure you do the power valves: POWER VALVES http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/17104-threadlocker-on-power-valve-screws-pics/?do=embed
19. FYI. If you’re looking for a winch, Northridge 4x4 has a sale ending today with Smittybilt X2O 10K winches [98510] for $420 total (if you live outside WA). You can find them for $475 so this is a decent deal but not a steal.
