I asked this in the "what did you do to your pathfinder" thread but no one replied so I'll start a new thread here, when I replaced the rear tranny mount and was putting the cross member back in I noticed a big letter "P" on the cross member, is that supposed to be indicating pass side?? Thanks

My 94 PF I noticed today when I close the spare tire carrier the gap between the rear door and the body gets bigger. Like the body is actually moving over a little, anyone ever notice this on theirs? If not go give it a try and take a look at it.

Yeah, after writing that and driving to work I remembered mine has them already DUH !! I finally moved my xterra rack outside my shed as every time I was in there working on something I had to keep moving it. Today, used the PF to help my step daughter move, it was def squatting down in the back!, also filled the tank at $3.87 for $63, tomorrow going to rig up a magnetic latch for that damn console lid that keeps popping open.

Nice Rack ! I think the local u pull and pay charged me $20 for one down here, now if I can ever get it installed it would be nice

back when I used to mount tires we generally filled them to 32, I run between 30-32. The rating on the sidewall if you look will say something like 3000 lbs at 35PSI, so you times the max load by 4 to get 12,000 lbs, the truck doesn't weigh 12K lbs so you don't need to run the max pressure.

I keep track of the MPG for my sentra, have been doing it since I bought it, have filled it up 454 times so far!! I also keep track of the gas prices, but the PF I never fill it up because it's so expensive, just wanted to do what I did to get an idea.

try taking the bolt out you got in and putting the other one in first, you may need to use a pry bar or punch or similar to line up the holes.

$50.79 from rockauto, I'll tell you I had fairly new autoparts store wires on my sentra and it would bog taking off really bad, I was up in NY visiting (where I am from) and I bought a set of OEM wires from the local dealer who gives me 20% off list, put the OEM plugs and the bog/stumble went away completely. Years ago on my 87 hardbody I took the OEM wires off and again replaced them with autoparts store wires, had them on for a long time than engine started acting up, put the OEM wires back on ( I kept them) and truck ran like new again. You normally can't beat OEM but sometimes the prices keep you from buying OEM, NGK is an excellent alternative.

Nothing to be gained really, but I have found that NGK is a good alternative to using the OEM wires. I have them on my Sentra and they work fine. I try to stay away from the brands the local auto parts stores sell, had problems with some of them but can not recall what the brand was.

Any Nissan employees know anything about this??

The lack of aftermarket support doesn't just apply to the unibody pathfinders, it applies to all the Nissan trucks, I had my hardbody from new in 87 and it was always that way, yes there were a handful of companies that specialized in Nissan but that was it, Jim Connor Racing was one of the biggest back than that come to mind, Jim Wolf Technology, desert steel, Calmini, but not even half as many as what Toyota had or still has available.

Finally had a chance to calculate my MPG, filled the truck Saturday ($64!!) but did not want to wait until it was near empty again so I drove 50.1 miles and filled it again, same station same pump, truck took 3.078 gallons, this was just around town mileage with aprox 10 minutes of engine running and not driving, numbers work out to 16.2 MPG. I know it's not totally accurate but it's an approximation. Still not too bad I guess.

I hear you, notice I said "most", and just because they are made by KYB doesn't mean they are KYB aftermarket quality.

Get used to it, that's just the way it is. Years ago when I had my 87 hardbody and was working at a 4x4 shop in NY, I had the chance to talk to a Trailmaster suspension rep that had come into the shop, I asked him about this compared to what they had available for the Toyota's, his answer was that just as many people purchase Nissan's as do Toyota's but they have found that the Toyota owner has more money !!!

I personally wouldn't bother with any of the stock SS's, whether they are OEM or made by Monroe, most stock shocks really suck, the manufacturers use the cheapest shocks they can get away with, this excludes vehicles that come with bilsteins or similar, if your going to add a SS might as well upgrade to a Rancho or another aftermarket brand. Just look at the difference in the shocks themselves, there is no comparison between the Rancho shock and the OEM shock.

They seem to be rare down here, I've only seen one xterra in my local junk yards, the one I got the roof rack off of !!, I do see one listed on the upullandpay web site in West Palm but too far for me to drive.

Screw calmini !! The xterra my buddy just bought has that heavy duty Calmini steering system, it needs new idler arm bushings so I emailed Calmini and they won't even sell the bushings separate, I read on other forums they used to send the bushings out for free not anymore I guess, now they want you to buy the whole idler arm for only $350 !! I don't own any Calmini stuff and after that response don't think I ever will.

finally replaced the tranny mount, it was shot as I thought it was, have a question and I think I already know the answer but going to ask anyway, the tranny cross member has a "P" on one side on the bottom, is that indicating pass side? If so my buddy (the PO) has it on backwards. I put it back on the same way until I verify this. Pics below old mount and new one:

anytime you upgrade to a higher output alternator you should run a new 4 gauge cable to the battery, the stock wire can stay as the current will take the path of least resistance. This was told to me by the Alternator manufacturer when I installed a 160 amp dual output, external regulator alt in my old hardbody.
