Doubt you will find any fenders in a junkyard up here worth using. You will likely have the fender fall apart in a pile of rust taking it off the truck. Living in an area with road salt just eats them up. I just replaced both front fenders on my 1988 Hardbody. Cost me $67 for the drivers side, and $135 for the passengers side (cost more because of the stupid hole for the antenna). They are the same ones for your truck. I got them from NAPA. Original ones could have been fixed, but it really, really wasn't worth even an hour of my time to fix them when new ones are so cheap. I made sure to cover the inside of the fenders with two thick coats of rock-guard to make sure they will not rust any time soon. Looks so much better and I know that the only thing I will have to worry about is denting them on the trail.

Neat idea, but that is about it. Guy is a moron if he ripped apart a good working haggland to build that thing though. Hagglands are nice vehicles stock, and it would be a shame to rip it apart like that.

That is normal for most all vehicles. Keeps the amperage from startup from damaging anything. Does it on my pathy as well as my gmc pickup. Like adam said, sounds like a dead starter. Take it off and bring it to the starter/alternator shop and get them to test it.

Yeah the length of your sleeve is dependent on the thickness of your bumper. My bumper is 6inches, so they sold me a 6.5inch sleeve (you need it slightly longer so that you have something to weld to on both ends). All of the hinge assemblies are the same length. So if you have a bumper that is higher than 4inches tall, you pretty much need a sleeve unless you have designed your bumper in such a way that the sleeve isn't needed.

Anything that stands out on it like stickers, body damage, etc? So many of them out there, that it can sometimes be hard to pick them out from the crowd. Hope it turns up quickly and undamaged.

Well the one I got from comp4x4 can be installed in two different ways. -You can just weld the shaft to the bumper. Not coming off unless someone opens up the hinge assembly, which I seriously doubt they would bother with. -Buy the sleeve that the shaft slides/fits into. Weld the sleeve to the bumper, then drop the shaft into the sleeve. It stays it place with pressure and a locking pin. On their website, they recommend welding it into sleeve once in place, but I didn't bother, as it ain't coming out due to the very tight fit. I bought the sleeve, as it would let me take the carrier off the truck if needed in the future (with some work mind you). Doubt anyone would be able to steal it without a lot of work pulling the small locking pin out then trying to pull the shaft/carrier out of the sleeve. Would be easier for someone to just steal your spare tire and jerry cans then to bother trying to take the entire, very heavy, carrier assembly. They would also have no use for a custom carrier by taking it off your truck. Put a locking nut on the spare tire, and a lock to hold down the jerry cans and you should be good. Naturally if someone really wants it, no matter what you do, they will eventually get it. Only thing I am a bit worried about would be if someone unlocked the carrier while I am parked, then it flips open while I drive down the road. Though that is possible with pretty much all carriers, including the stock pathy ones.

Oh I have already thought of how I am going to mount my jerry cans but am too lazy to install them right now. I plan on installing them on both sides of the tire carrier with the back of the jerry can to the tire. Hard to explain, but the jerry can will sit the same way this one is mounted: Naturally it will not be mounted in the same position (just the first picture I found), but I think you get the idea. I have mine mounted that high to make sure the connections on my rear bumper were clear and easy to access. Plus I left a few more inches in case I put a larger tire back there. All depends on your setup.

I bought my hinge from comp4x4 and bought a standard spring latch for $15. Has worked well for me. Hinge was well made and heavy duty. I have stood on top of my tire carrier and it still swung very smoothly. Big difference with the comp4x4 one is that it has two zerk/grease fittings so that you grease directly into both bearings. Not between them just onto the shaft like the other ones. My build thread here.

I went with the OEM mounts. Yeah they cost more, but I haven't had any problems. It is well known that the Ranchos and KYB mounts are not as good as the OEM ones.

Yeah that looks interesting and very easy to make yourself. But if you don't have the welder/metal it is just cheaper to buy one ready made for $40.

Yup that is a good idea that I am looking at. They do still look good with a king-cab. I am also looking at doing something similar to this: Many things I could do with it. The truck is in great shape as it came from the west coast, so no frame rust. Last hardbody I picked up looked decent till I took the box off and found the back half of the frame completely rotten as well as both rear cab mounts rusted off.

Picked up this beauty a few weeks ago. Still haven't had a chance to do anything to it yet, but she will clean up good. Is fully loaded with the 3.0L engine, 4x4 (naturally), electric windows and doors, sunroof, etc Going to fix the body and repaint it the original color. Then do some upgrades to make it more trail ready. Came with some nice extra tires. Even came with the original manual and warranty book with the name/address of the original owner back in 88

Seen it done many times and it seems as if most all parts are interchangeable with little or no modifications needed. As you well know, the pathy and QX4 are pretty much the same truck. Only difference is that the QX4 is the "luxury" version of the pathy. As for fender flares, unless you have very wide tires, don't bother with them. Fender flares almost always help get mud/water between them and the fender, causing the fender to rust out faster. I took mine off and am not interested in ever putting them back on. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

Can't see how you could put that in an R50. There is no room. Unless you are a pretty short/small guy, it will be smack in your face. Can't see how it would fit unless you sit with your seat leaning far back. One installed in the back of the truck would be cool though.

I ran my stock 2001 Pathy through lots of off-road stuff before I did any mods and it went through everything and never got stuck. Only thing that has gone wrong so far is that I blew the two CV axles. But they were also stock and 9 years old. Both are good trucks. All depends on preferences. Congrats on your truck purchase. I know you will like it.

Actually it is very easy to get your license and then purchase one. Not worth it to bring it to the US though, as the ATF and State Department are a pain in the ass, and the only way you can bring one down now is to have paperwork from an event in the US stating that you will be attending it. You also have to apply 3 months in advance to the ATF to bring your gun(s) and get authorization for a certain time period when you will be bringing it down. You cannot just bring a gun into the US without a good reason as the US government sees everyone who is not a US citizen as a possible terrorist. As I said before, it is not worth it. Just rent one at the range, or borrow one from a friend while at the range. Good luck on the trip. Sounds like you are having fun!
