  1. Oh no, not another guy from Alberta. You pathy guys over there seem to just keep multiplying! lol Welcome!
  2. If you need to replace the O2 sensors on the back of the engine, spend the money to get Nissan to change them. They are well known to burn out soon after being changed. But if you get Nissan to change them, they come with a 1year 20,000km (I think it is 15K miles) warranty. I got Nissan to change mine, then they blew 1 month later. Now Nissan is changing them completely for free (labor and parts). Only thing it will cost me is the gas to drive the truck down to the dealership and back. Plus the ones on the back of the engine are insanely hard to reach. If they are the O2 sensors on the cats, those are very easy to reach.
  3. ARB does make a nice bumper, but didn't they discontinue the WD21 bumper line? I was thinking of getting one for my D21, but will likely wait till summer. If you do get one from KMA, at least you will be close by so I can take a look at it
  4. Good to have another member in the Ottawa area.
  5. Calm down. Is just a badly titled article. You can tell that the person who wrote it seems to have gotten most of their info from wiki or something. Something like "Nissan's most popular 4x4" would have been a better title. I love my R50 and think it is a great truck. Yeah it isn't the best one out there, and it does have its flaws, but what doesn't? It is a very popular truck and I see at least 4-5 each day while driving around.
  6. Can't wait till they come out with a body kit like that for the pathy!
  7. If you are going through water any deeper than the hood of the truck there is little to nothing better than a snorkel. Even if you are quickly going through water that deep there is always a chance of getting water into the engine. Lots of guys have hydro-locked an engine driving only 1-2 seconds through water. Maybe put together a temporary snorkel so that you can remove it when not needed? Got a bigger sub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICKLGYs8CE8 And no, I am not trying that with my deuces
  8. Looks to be in very good shape. I find the price a bit expensive though. Though that all depends on your location. There was a SWEET 95 D21 for sale around here lately. Truck body was all original with excellent paint and even the original decals were prefect. Guy had installed a 2inch lift with some 32's. Nothing major, but it sat really nice. Was the 4x4, V6, SE with electric windows/doors and working AC. Guy was asking $2000obo. Would have bought it if I had the money. Was such a sweet looking truck. Thought I saved the pictures, but I can't find them, so I guess I didn't Yeah good paint jobs are very expensive these days. I was quoted $4000 to repaint my hardbody. I did it myself and it cost about $1000 with all the paint and supplies. Not as nice of a job as a professional, but good enough for me
  9. Best picture I could find of the part. Part is in bottom, middle part of the picture.
  10. lol, if you unclip it (so that the top is somewhat open), then you will give water another way to get in. If you go through water that deep, it is better to "look gay" with a snorkel then "look stupid" sitting in the middle of a trail with a hydro-locked engine. Snorkels can look good depending on your setup.
  11. Sorry, never removed mine. Did you check the Nissan manual to see what they recommend doing to remove it?
  12. Unless you are really short on cash, just change the complete assemblies. That way you will know everything is good. For all you know, the last owner just replaced the boots. New assemblies are cheap and plentiful. I changed mine about 2 months back. Was about an hour long job changing both of them.
  13. Yup I would hit up a junk/scrap yard. I am sure you could find a nice set of seats out of an R50 there. Maybe find a set of sweet leather seats I know 4x4parts has replacement seat brackets to let you change the seats in the older pathys, but I looked and they do not have them for the R50's
  14. Welcome. Yeah that isn't a little project. I bought an 89 hardbody and found out afterwards the frame was very badly rusted and really not worth fixing. In the end I just bought another truck and scrapped the first one. Good luck on the project. I always knew that those Albertans were crazy
  15. Well it isn't all that its cracked up to be. It seemed like a great idea after the 10th beer......
  16. Yeah as long as you still have a pathy you can still be part of the group and don't have to give up your secret pathy decoder ring! I have to admit that those Taco's are pretty nice. You will have to post some pics of it when you get it
  17. Welcome. Be sure to post some pictures of your truck!
  18. Yeah I thought I didn't understand it either so I decided to look online to see if I could find pictures. Here are pictures I found from a 1998 QX4 Really odd setup.
  19. No need for a locker. But one can be installed if you really want to. Cheapest vehicles in Canada are usually in the Toronto area. I would look there first. Best place to start is through kijiji.
  20. I think you made a good choice. Like I said before, it ain't perfect, but unless you have ridiculous amounts of money to spend on the perfect truck, you will have to do with what you can get. I drive my truck as a daily driver and just love it. Is comfortable to drive and can beat a lot of honda civics off the line with the 3.5L, which is always fun to do All you have to do is look at my page in the "Members Rides" section. I explain most everything there: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=25920 You can post questions there, or send me a PM.
  21. Eh, I don't even bother looking in that section. The only person's opinion that really matters is your own when it comes to your truck. I post pics and other stuff in the members section, but I also do that to help others who might want to do the same thing, but would like to know how the hell I did it. But it is true, that there are a lot more WD21 owners here, so it goes to reason that those trucks will win more often. I love my R50 (well except for those days that I have problems), and even though no one else in my area wheels with one anymore (the few that did have now moved onto other trucks), I still drive mine and will likely keep it till she dies, or someone offers me a ridiculous amount of money for it. Hate them, love them, whatever. Just as long as you don't block my way on the trail we are all good! Come on over up to the Ottawa area and I would be more than happy to have an R50 day on the trails.
  22. I run my 2001 R50 and love it. Yeah it isn't the best machine you could buy to do the job, but mine does it well. I was off-roading with it at stock height for a while and went everywhere that the other guys with lifted trucks were going. I now have my lift and it works well for me. Don't know why everyone is saying the 3.3L is better, as most guys aren't stating reasons for it over the 3.5L (except for Simon that mentioned the valve screw thing). I have had no problems with my 3.5L except for blown O2 sensors. Other than that it runs very good and has a lot more power than the 3.3L. There is more aftermarket support for the xterra than the pathfinder. But anything is doable. I wouldn't sleep in the truck unless you really need to. There is more then enough room to do so, but there are other options. If you are overly concerned about animals and insects, you can get a roof-tent to sleep in. That way you can keep all your gear in the truck on those long trails. Parts for the pathy and xterra are both pretty common. So you should be able to get them at pretty much any Nissan dealership or places like NAPA. Only difference I could see is that you are likely going to pay more for the xterra than the pathy. You could use that money you save from buying the xterra to put more mods on the pathy. In the end you will really need to get in both types of trucks and go for a ride to see how you like them and pick the one that you think fits the best.
  23. Two is better than one Never know when the zombies will hit and you need another truck! Good price and a great reason to give it some lift. I would buy it at that price. Thread on the 33's: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=24306 I am not a fan of the SFD. Put on the 4x4parts lift and a bit of trimming and you will be all set
