Car Quest also has GL4 The deal with GL5 in our manuals is kind of like the auto tranny cooler deal. Not everyone has had problems with the Autos going out @ 200K with no cooler, but enough have that you should probably think twice about not installing one. Not everyone who has filled up with GL5 has had problems (that we are aware of).. but is it worth risking a transmission rebuild? Because several have had to do just that. Mile, search for some posts from Maritimeman. He used GL5 and about six months later he was replacing his 5spd. If I remember right, there are some pictures of his tranny after he tore it apart.

Well I don't have part numbers but if you searched then you know it is best to get longer ones in the rear (and only the rear). With that info you should be able to talk to a sales person (in store or on the phone) and if they have the specs for the shocks they should be able to get you the ones you need. (standard pathy replacement shocks for the front and the longer ones in the rear) That is how I ordered my ProComps

I know it sucks, but the $20-$30 spent on another new belt is a bit of insurance against possible major engine damage a few miles down the road... not to for get the piece of mind it offers

Probably to late but I would have recommended that you do a proper boot replacement on those CV's before you go... even if that means canceling the trip. IMO one day of fun is probably not worth the cost of new CV's

They were cheap little things... not really meant to be used continuously for the that amount of time. The type you would keep in the truck of your can in case you have a minor leak, which just needed topped of so you could get to the tire shop. The one you have now is more like the type I have currently been looking. It's just that I was kinda leary of another small portable air pump. Until now I have never known anyone who actually had one like that.

Nice... I have been considering one of those pumps for the Pathy for a while now, but was worried about how good they really were. You have had this pump since 2005? How is it holding up? I have destroyed three or four of those small tire inflators on my Yota's 33's. For the Yota I have almost all the parts for on onboard air system using a Toyota AC Comp. But for the Pathy this is the route I will most likely go

It would be best to thoroughly clean and degrease them, that way to get all the grit and grim out and when your done they are riding on 100% new and clean grease... I mean, if your going to do it then you might as well do it right the first time

At least not when your within striking distance? Heat if need be, just don't toast the box I had one that gave me a hell of a time. It was in a wrecking yard, even they could not get it off. Busted my puller, bent the handle on a fork they had (they did not care about the box) When they gave up, the end of the box shaft was seriously screwed up. I took the box home, cut the end of the shaft off and went to town on trying to get the PA off. 2hrs later I got it... but what a PITA it was Hopefully, yours is not like that

I can't give an opinion on the Pathy, but when I first got my Yota it had RS5000's and I replaced them with TrailMaster SSV's (Speed Sensitive Valving)... However I also lifted the truck 4in at the same time. I am glad I choose the SSV's over another set of RS5000's on the Yota, They are a variable rate shocks which give a forgiving enough on road ride for a lifted, leaf sprung, short wheelbase truck, made even stiffer by the rear lift being provided by an add-a-leaf. But when it came to harder hits off road, they instantly jump up the dampening to better absorb the impact. I planned on installing SSV's on the Pathy, but the price of them had jumped considerably from when I put them on the Yota (they were brand new to the market then). And since I was limited in funds and had to have new shocks (olds ones were blown) I went with a set of ProComp ES3000's. Which I am happy enough with

Yep Simon is right, I had my resistor go out on me too (actually it was out when I bought the truck) and when the resistor is dead you have OFF and 4 (Full Speed) because those are the only two position on the switch that do not use the resistor. Could be the switch, or it could be wiring. Try putting it on 4 and tapping the bottom of the blower motor. Mine recently started working intermittently and I found that if I tap the bottom (where the elec connections are) it comes right one. Yet another thing I need to check out

I don't know why they cost so much less but check out this HowTo: how to install a 90 amp alternator, Direct bolt on!, look up an alternator for a Maxima within the year range in the how to. Then decide if you want to do a stock replacement or an upgrade replacement You may or may not be able to get them to except your Pathy's alt as a core for the Max alt. Depends on them... and if they know it sssh If you stick with the stock alt, then take a look at http://www.advanceautoparts.com/ they have a lower online price, you may be able to print out the page and get them to honor that price at the store. I have no problem doing this with Schucks Auto Parts. which is also a member of the PartsAmerica.com group. But Advance operates seemingly seperate from CSK (Checker/Schucks/Kragen) so I am not sure if they will or not. If you have any of CSK stores near you (partsamerica.com did not list any) then there is that option as well. There is also the Quest Alt. option but those are not bolt on in WD21's.
