Even considering that, it sounds like it may have been the wrong part quoted. Perhaps a miscommunication? Maybe a call back to verify the price and if needed, question it if the price is still way high.

Yea the clino would be a hurdle for me as well, although I guess it could just be mounted on top of it.

I have the Battery Life+ Solar2 http://batterylife.com/chargers/blsolar2/ And it has safety features built into it such as Short circuit, open circuit, overheat & overcurrent. The instructions also say. Now that said, this 2.5w charger is rated at a constant charging rate of 180mA (.18A) and cannot maintain my Pathfinders battery for more than a week. But take into account where I live and that I do have items that constantly draw of the main battery, and know it. Having this one, I now wish I had opted for the 5w, 410mA (.41A) version, in hopes that it would extend the time a bit more. Solar chargers with such low ratings are not meant to maintain a battery that has a constant draw nor are they really meant to power devices. They are simply meant to maintain a battery in a vehicle that is not frequently run.

Just checked RockAuto.com and they list the switches for under $14

I would not advise that, do you really want to risk it breaking off and floating around to possibly do damage elsewhere?

Pretty sure he's safe from inspection in Oregon... unless things are different now. But, yes I agree completely that they are good to have. I also had the problem, I snagged one from a "fairly" low mileage truck in a wrecking yard (cost me $3-4 bucks iirc) and installed... problem solved.

Not that it matters, but I actually think that is sun faded harbor freight orange.

I've had troubles in the past with that gasket and the one behind it. But you should also not rule out the manifold gaskets (where the exhaust bolts to the engine.) The studs that are used to secure the manifolds to the heads are known problems on Pathfinders and have needed to be replaced (often extracted after breaking) on a large number of VG30's (V6's) in these trucks... including my own.
