So I just replaced my timing belt over the weekend (173K miles and i have no idea if the previous owner changed it, so in went a new one). I'm glad I read this because when i set the marks on the belt and turned it a few times, it never re-aligned. So, that post about it helped ease my nerves. Also the belt tension with the 90* thing helped too. I have one tip for the auto guys (or anybody really) for torqueing the crank bolt (and removing) with no air. I took the starter out, and put a 1 1/16 short socket in there. Worked great! Broke easily enough and torqued to 112 lb-ft just fine. Thats my tip! Jose

cool stuff! Would like to see the R50 pics! Jose

That looks good! What psi do you run the tires at? From the looks of it, it seems as thogh the very egdes of the tread doesn't come in contact with the ground, but that's just looking from this one picture. Looks killer good. I like the black wheels. I might black mine out. Hmm...

NO! Get 10" wides!! Haha. So...I see you're in VA. When you get your new wheels/tires...can..I um...have your old stockers? Jose
-
Thanks! Jose

Well, if you do get 15x10's I run 15x10s with 3.75" BS with no lift. I do have 31's on them, so I can't comment on the tire sizes, but with just a little trimming, they don't rub. Again, a wider tire might need more trimming. Can't comment on that. Get the 10" wides!!

Where do you get it from?

What did you gap your plugs to? I'm being told between .039 and .043 gap. Is this what your running? Thanks. Jose

What is 'BUM'? Have you ever changed the fluid and filter for the transmission? Might be a good idea to do it. Rememeber to check the level when the transmission is warm to get an accurate reading. Also, proof reading what you write will make answering easier. Thanks. Jose

I run my tires at ~34 psi. I have 31x10.50 on 10" wide wheels. This seems real good for everyday driving. Of course I lower it when I go 'the road less traveled' unless it's sand, in wich I only lower the rear pressure (learned this was the best setup for ME, as most people lower all tires).

Just go to a shop and get the codes. 10 minutes. Sounds like running in safe mode. Is your milage getting bad (running real rich maybe). Jose

You can lift the truck with stock wheels and with those tires mounted on the stock wheels no problem. AC is dumb for putting that on there, and is actually probably hurting business because it might turn people away because they don;t want to spend the money to lift and buy wheels, but in reality you don't have to. Stupid AC. Jose

Yea, no fun at all. Thats for sure! Jose

Was they pathy runnung fine before you did it? If so, and the belt is back to where it was before, then no problems. And as madhornet said, you definatly didn't need to do all that to change the 3" hose. It's a pain since its like under the distributor, but it can be done, i've done it a few times. But, hey, learning right? Jose

I'd say if you're doing that kind of driving, then you should replace at least your struts with KYB GR-2's. You'll blow the old ones in a few moths if you do alot of irregular driving. Jose

Fo rmy pathy, it too is having starting issues. Sometime I have to turn the key on and off a few times for it to start to slowly start cranking. Goes turn.......turn.....turn...turn.start. So wierd. But I think my engine is going bad, cause it souonds like its 'stuck' so it take sthe starter a little longer to 'force' it to turn. Our starters do not have a ground (most starters don't). Its grounded the transmsion (which is grounded to the chassis). By now, I would say take your battery to get tested. Last thing to do and it should be free to do it (at some places). Jose

Cruise control, different engines are a couple factors. I understand what he is saying. Structural Rigity is the main purpose of the strut tower bar. It helps with stability, as you said. I want a strut tower bar! Jose

Only pics I have right now. 15x10 with 3.75" backspacing. Tires are 31/10.50. Second picture is how far the wheel sticks out by itself. Jose

I just replaced my box with a filter with an adapter plate for the MAF (VG33). The intake is a lot louder. And since putting it on, my MPG's have been going down. But, this could be related to somethign else completely. I do want to put a K&N filter on it, but they so expensive! I haven't had any problem with water, even when it flooded here a few times and I was driving through water that was just above the bottom of the door that even covered my hood a few times(that wet carpet smell was awful for a while afterwards though!) Jose

I saw the topic and wondered if anyone had already posted this. Good job! 96 SE 167xxx (and I get 12MPG! All right!! time for a rebuild..le-sigh!) Jose
-
Just wrap some foam or something around it for the time being!
-
He did say 35MPG DD didn't he?

Definitely strut mounts. More so it might be your strut bearings (spherical bearing) gone bad. This happened to mine twice! Only happened when I hit bumps or dips. So I would really place the focus on that. Good way to tell, as stated above, is to have the hood open, and push thr truck down. If the strut shaft moves, thats your problem. Jose

Another thought, will the tire hit the pipe at full flex mode? Got any pics of it going through the fender from the inside? Jose
