  1. Hello, I have a 2003 LE 4x4 with 204,000 miles. I just replaced the spark plugs with Denso Iridum plugs. The old plugs were not excessively gaped. I think I replaced them at 100K also. Anyway, had the plugs replaced, mechanic cleaned the throttle body as well. Now the SES light is on and it will not idle at less than 1500 rpm when in park or N. When I stop, in drive, like at a light, I see the rpms drop then bounce to almost 2000 then down to 1000 then back to 1500. We thought that the computer needed to relearn...no dice. He reflashed the idle in the ecu, I'm sure that I did not say that correctly, what he did was reflashed the "idle air learn"... is that right. Regardless he reflashed what could be reflashed on the computer to address the problem...no dice either. Still idles way too high. I reset the ecu or ecm by pulleg the neg for 24hrs. SES went out for a bit, seemed to idle ok for a bit, then after a few miles, back to the high idle and ses. Now after doing that, the high idle code is gone (even though it is still idling high) only to be replaced with a lean bank 1 code. UPDATE - spoke with mechanic, says that the reflash is now "taking" and the SES is off and idling low until you stop the truck, then when you restart it, it goes back to idling high and the SES comes back on. found this- http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generation-maxima-2000-2003/394257-do-not-clean-02-03-thottle-body.html not good, mechanic agrees that he screwed up, honest mistake, just got to figure out how to get it fixed. ARRH I'm going nuts with this truck!!! Any thoughts! Thanks for the help. -Ty
  2. Thanks for the merge (I guess!?), I just wanted to get as many responses as possible. I have been looking all over and it seems that the cleaning of the throttle body, which I did not ask for btw, might be the culprit. "The Internet" says that cleaning a drive-by-wire system TB is a big no no and can cause the ECU to not be able to accept an idle air lean procedure, well it accepts it, it just does not remember it, which is exactly what is happening at the moment.
  3. plugs are correct size, it drives just fine. found this http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generation-maxima-2000-2003/394257-do-not-clean-02-03-thottle-body.html I believe the engine is damn close.
  4. found this http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generation-maxima-2000-2003/394257-do-not-clean-02-03-thottle-body.html not good
  5. I dont believe the cruise works that way, this is a drive-by-wire system, I could be wrong.

  7. Hello, I have a 2003 LE 4x4 with 201K miles. It runs well. It has the original exhaust and cats. I have maintained it very well. Over the last 30K-350K miles I have had to add at least 2-3 quarts between oil changes. There are no leaks, there is no smoke, either at start up or during acceleration. No codes, no check engine light, it runs just fine. I have tried Lucas oil additive and it seems to work for a bit at stopping the consumption. I know I need new exhaust, maybe my old cats are trapping the smoke I would otherwise see? I know that a little oil consumption is ok, but this just seems to be excessive. Has anyone else had an experience with this? I drive a lot each week, and I would like to get at least another 100K out of her. Has anyone ever used any type of oil additive that actually stopped or at least significantly slowed the oil loss? I don't think anything in a can or bottle will replace worn cylinder walls or rings.
  8. Question. My AC still works(2003 LE), in other words, the compressor still cools the air very well but it does not blow until the car is moving. There is no noise from the HVAC fan in any position. I rely on car movement and an open vent to get AC. All of the AC related fuses are good, at least all the ones I could find (under the hood and in the cab fuse boxes). How hard is it to replace the blower/motor unit? I am somewhat handy but by no means a mechanic. I saw blower/motor units online for about $50-$60 shipped. How much would a mechanic charge for this? Thanks for the help!
  9. Thanks for the input, so I should go with the Bilstein shocks...or just get the springs and order the shocks for my truck from somewhere else. Question - are the shocks different size from stock? In other words, are the shocks in the kit longer for the 2" lift, or do I just order shocks for a stock 2003 Pathfinder or do I need to specifically order shocks for a 2" lift. I could just get the springs from AC, go to a mechanic and say, "here are the springs, I need shocks - please install it - all thanks you!" Concerning the hubs - I do have (I think) automatic 4x4. I have 4 settings, 2wd, Auto, 4 high, and 4 low. Why would I not want the manual hubs...I have read that the manual hubs allows me to get better MPG and less wear because I can dis-engage the system and therefore it will not turn when it is not in 4wd. Thanks again!
  10. Hello, As always thanks in advance. I have looked and not found all the answers, well, I have found answers for a lot of other year models but not for the 2003. I have a 2003 LE 4x4 all stock except new BFG Mud Terrain KM2 245/70 R17 (that ya'll helped me with)...they fit and work well. (No rubbing yet, but I have not gone off-road yet, when I do I am sure there will be some rubbing.) Anyway, here is my question(s): I am looking at a AC/4x4 Parts lift kit - https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-suspension-package-p-1554.html it is the one with four coils, GR-2 Front Struts, Rancho RS5000 Rear Shocks, and Strut Tower Mounts. Is this a good kit, should I go with the Bilstein rear shocks, do I need the strut tower mounts (I see some without the mounts)? I have read to stay away from the Rancho front struts and go with the GR-2 struts, I have also read to use OEM or factory tower mounts. Also, how much should I budget for installation? I will not be doing it myself, I do not have the time or skill. Another thing, I plan to have a bumper/winch ( http://www.kenmtnac.com/WinPat9904.html ) installed at some point so I know that will carry some extra weight. Lastly, what else do I need? Camber alignment kit, or some other thing I don't know about? I am planning on keeping my stock 17" wheels and the BFG Mud terrain 245/70 R17's currently installed and adding Warn manual locking hubs in the future to get a little better MPG and reduce wear on the drive train. Again, thanks for the help.
  11. 2003 - 182,945 miles. Runs great. Original everything except new BFG KM2 tires.
  12. Hello, Thanks in advance for the replies. I searched the forums and I could not find any answers to these specific questions. I have a 2003 4x4 LE with 182,000 miles. All stock, including wheels. I have been considering getting larger tires on the stock 17" wheels, stock is 245/65 R17, and I think I am going to get Wrangler MT/R or BFG Mud Terrain tires in 245/70 R17 on the stock 17" rim I would like to keep the tire and stock wheel combination mentioned above and get a 2" lift; however, the AC (4x4parts.com) website states with any of their lift packages that: "You must purchase aftermarket wheels with 3.75" negative backspace when installing this lift." Is there any way to lift the truck with the stock wheels? I would be happy with a 1" or 1 1/2" lift but I cant find any, are there any shocks that will give me 1" or so lift? If I buy the Wrangler MT/R or BFG Mud Terrain tires and put them on the stock wheels am I stuck with the stock height? I just don't want to drop $900 on tires and not be able to lift the truck with the stock tires. Also, a few of my buddies with Silverado's and F150's have "leveling kits" that allow them to run a little bigger tires, any such thing for a 2003 Pathfinder? Like I said I have 182K on the truck with stock suspension, so it is time to do something, I just want to spend my money well, and not regret $900 on tires, only to find that I can't lift me truck with the stock wheels. Thanks for the help!!!
  13. So if my math is correct, the stock size(height) sidewall is 6.26 inches, and the size I am considering will have a sidewall size of 6.75, so a half inch higher if I am correct is not a big deal.
  14. Thanks for the help! So I can put 245/70 R17 size mud tires and I will be OK, right? Thanks again.
