  1. A split hand brake system is a standard modification in the dunebuggy world and is pretty simple to use only you get used to it. Yes, it would work to some degree as well as simply using the foot brake to get more out of the rear end. That is a trick used by open diff cars and trucks for about 50 years. It really depends what you are using your rig for to determine what degree of traction device you want to get. ARBs are great but pricey, lock-rites are economical but can't be turned off and can be questionable in ice and snow, LSD is the most streetable but can strand you off road if you lift a wheel and the 1 legged ponys are for the mall. B
  2. I've had a bad experience with their customer service so I'm not all that interested in their products when they won't even acknowledge an obvious fabrication error. You'll find many others have similiar stories or problems getting replacement parts too. Good luck though, I hope it works out for you... B
  3. You have a small chance that tightening the brass screws on the back might fix it. Also, I had a dead tach in a parts truck that came back to life after being swapped (2 clusters to make 1 fully functioning one). I literally can't explain it. B
  4. Excellent write up!! I doubt you mind, but I saved a copy for myself. Thanks!! B
  5. Yes, the cables could be stretched, mine are. Also if the rear drums are not adjusted correctly, that can have an efect also. I am about to address both these issues, so I'll keep you informed as to what I have to do. B
  6. Make sure the wires are well secured also. I had one ground out on the header and it was not fun limping home 15 miles with a completely dead dash display and a tranny in limp mode!! If you use the included 'brackets' to mount the stock front bumper, you now have the front impact resistance of a gerbil holding a twist tie. Your best bet is to get an aftermarket bumper that actualy works. Seriously! I tell all pathy owners who want to keep them in good shape, put real bumpers on it!! B
  7. You are welcome. No problem, it's all good. Yep, 2 is fine... Now is damn near 2 weeks?? Seems like a good time to me and not pushy at all. Giving someone a week+ to commit to a requested purchase opportunity is more than reasonable and sending out a reminder is just plain considerate of you, making sure no one is accidentally left behind... Thanks again for taking lead with this, it is appreciated! B
  8. I'll look in the FSM about the F when I get home tonight, now you have me wondering what I did... Thanks for the picture of the F, that helps! I'm pretty sure that didn't jack up the truck to change the compression rod bushing, I'm certain I didn't unload the torsion bar. Yeah, they usually look a lot worse inside than what a visual inspection shows. Yep, I have the Firestone lifetime alignment but they aren't shy about my returning. They generally tell me to bring it in every 6 months whether I need it or not. Hint: Bribe them, bring a box of donuts... You are welcome to any help I can provide, that's what this place is all about! B
  9. I actually liked the feel of the clutch in my first WD21 after I replaced it with OEM parts at 135k. Plenty of feel, good hook up but not grabby. If I have another manual Pathy, I'll leave the system alone. B
  10. Good point, I missed that. I'd still run the same diameter though... Yes, the VG33 R50 runs dual into the cats (one for each side) down to the muffler (2 in 1 out) into single exhaust tip. Muffler back system might do some good... B
  11. x923 on sticking with the single exhaust running roughly in the stock place. 2.25-2.5" pipe is the most you need anyway. As was said, you have a 3 liter v6 with a max intake of less than 300 cfm and that's not a lot... Better spend the $ on headers, intake, lift or tires. B
  12. Your best bet is to jack it up and see if anything is loose and anything loose is a problem. Strut rod bushing, ball joints, wheel bearings, cross member bolts, etc... B
  13. That is unbelievable!! I am totally dumfounded that someone would do such a thing! Seriously... B
  14. IIRC MY1PATH put a sensor into the drain plug, but also said that there was plenty of room in the bottom of the pan so clearance wasn't an issue. Double check with him though... There is a pinned thread in this section about what I did for a filter, sensor, grounding, etc so you might want to read that. I personally mounted the trany cooler sideways and plumbed into the bottom and out the top so there wouldn't be any bubble traps. Make sure your cooler isn't uni-directional, I have heard some are... B
  15. LOL And you are the photographer?? I'm laughing with you, not at you. I've seen it done before. About 20 years ago a buddy and I were driving my dune buggy down to Cabo San Lucas via the long route (what ever beach we wanted to visit/drive down). He had borrowed his parents camera and about 1000 miles into the trip, he told me that it was strange that he was on exposure #38. I used to do a lot of photography and know you can get an extra frame or two depending how you wind it, but I knew something was wrong right away. I told him to take a few random shots and soon enough he was at 42 exposures. I told him there was no film in the camera and I was right. When he got the camera, it read 3 exposures so he assumed there was film in it. He defended himself by saying how was he to tell, open the camera? No stupid, try rewinding the film, if you gain tension, there is film, if not, none. Many photos lost so long ago. I was pissed then but now I just laugh... Glad you found your video camera, everyone is safe and that the damage is cosmetic. Bonus is that you learned something valuable, line of sight speed... B
  16. There is no solid answer, virtually any combination of year, tranny or trim can have either 4.36 or 4.63 gears. You need to look on the plaque under the hood on the passenger fender. It'll say HG43 or HG46... B
  17. Yes, go have Alkorahil (aka Rob Lacy) ship you a Nissan belt for far less than that. (he's in Texas too) WWW.FACTORYNISSANPARTS.COM phone 1-866-742-0297 Tell him you are from NPORA. I'm pretty sure the belt style change was mid 1993 so if you have an early year you have square and later=round. Rob can verify that but he can also run your VIN and probably tell you specific for your vehicle... B
  18. I just looked at mine and I don't see any marks, but it is hard to see the whole thing back behind the shock and all. Where exactly is the F? And yes, I suspect it can't hurt to orient it that way. As for the other bushings, that is one bushing that is often in really bad shape and would allow the LCA to move. AFAIC, that bushing should be a 60,000 mile service item.. B
  19. You are still safe if you are at or under the max tire pressure, it just doesn't mean you are at a correct pressure. Handling, ride and tire wear would all be negatively affected. When in doubt, do the chaulk test. Mark a line across the tire, drive straight 100 feet and look at the line. If it is worn off in the middle only, you are over inflated, if it's the outsides only, you are underinflated. There will be a pressure range where the chaulk will wear off evenly across the tire and it is up to you to determine what feels right, handles fine, etc. Remember, tires will heat up some from driving and increase prerssure slightly... B
  20. Notepad and pencil in the glovebox app. It's pretty cool and hasn't crashed on me yet! B
  21. You are talking about the spindle for the UCA, the one that has two bolts and gets shimmed to set camber and castor, right? I recently put two new ones on my Pathy and as far as I could tell, they were symmetrical. I believe there was a stamp on them so I faced that out, but that's all. I'll look again tomorrow when there is light... The 4 possibilities I can think of is that you have a bent spindle, that RC arm isn't correct, your pathy was in a wreck and is not straight, or the strut rod (comression rod) bushing for the LCA is wasted and allowing the LCA to shift, throwing things off. B
  22. You might have some broken studs but sometimes they are just loose. Lets hope that's it... B
  23. LOL That snake thing is actually pretty damn funny!! Well, maybe not that funny in OZ I suppose, where most of the snakes are poisonous... I've seen a lot of dumb stuff in the past, but all 3 pathys that I have purchased were pretty much stock, so little to critique. The first one did have an after market shifter installed, the Kragen one size fits all-clamps with a set screw kind. It must have been loose or something because the PO filled it with epoxy and stuck it on too. I had to remove it with a hacksaw... B
