Hey Bud, first off, you are welcome and thanks for adding to the info/write up! I'm not sure why it didn't like your image posts, all I did was copy the URL, use the add image button in the tool bar above, paste the url and click OK. Now it works... B

Not a Pathy Problem, but if possible please help.
Precise1 replied to Kittamaru's topic in The Garage
In this case, I prefer to start with a multi meter to follow the wiring and what has current when. Once you know that, you can generally narrow things down enough to isolate the problem. Sorry, no specific advice though. B -
I do recall that I helped Tex get some and they didn't turn out as intended/expected so I'd get first hand info before you order. Considering I've only changed 1 bulb in almost 20 years of driving Nissan trucks, I can't be bothered with the trouble or expense... B

Glad to hear that things are returning to (Dowser) 'normal'. WTF with all the illnesses though? You Canooks better stop cross breeding with the penguins or it'll be the ruin of you!! Thanks for keeping up on it in the light of things. It'll happen and I doubt anyone is concerned. Eager, yes! Concerned, no... B

Shhh!! You should avoid the strength of his alwaysright-fu. Mumble something vague and then compliment his hair... B

starter swap without removing the oil filter?
Precise1 replied to Balln's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I think there are fuel and brake lines that are still in the way with a body lift so you can't pull it out the wheel well, but please, feel free to prove me wrong! With the body lift, it's not hard to walk it out the front. Not nearly as tight as stock... B -
starter swap without removing the oil filter?
Precise1 replied to Balln's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
As he said, yes, you can. You will only be low what was in the filter+a few drops. B -
100k if all else is in good shape makes sense, but I wouldn't go longer if you don't have to. The 2 R50's I have changed plugs on needed them as I highly suspect both sets were original. One was at 150k and the plug electrode was visibly eroded at a 45 degree angle, and the other one was at 256k and there was barely any protruding center electrode; the gap was at .090"+ and it still started and drove fine, I kid you not. Maybe there are some top end wheels that you can buy left and right side versions for custom street rods or something like that, but all of the ones I have seen around on 'normal' vehicles are uni-directional. If you had left and right sides with a matching spare, it would get all screwed when you rotated the tires. FYI, the pathy isn't supposed to be level. The front is a little lower from the factory and I have heard it helps with handling and/or braking but I'm not certain of either. It might be so that when you put 400 pounds of gear in the back and people in the back seat you don't have a saggy arse. Most people run the front end 1/2"+ lower but I certainly don't see any harm in leveling it either. Personal perference... B

Sorry Bud, but they are all like that, there are no passenger or driver side differences. You are expected not to notice and be distracted by the shiney... Good deal though! Try adjusting the T-bars (if you haven't already), it make the difference. B
-
Yes, they should fit but will stick out a little more. The rubbing is more dependent on the size of tire; as long as you stay with 31" tires (and your suspension isn't sagged), I doubt there will much issue, and even then at full lock. You always have the option of massaging the fenders a little and/or readjusting the stops... B

That would be your transfer case and it's not supposed to get hot. Well, certainly not extremely hot. Do you have the automatic locking hubs? Are they actually unlocked? When you spin the wheels, do the front CV axles spin? Does the fron drive shaft? B It would be worth checking the fluid in the transfer case, just take out the top fill hole and see if there is any first.

I have a set like that, but not on my Pathy. Americal Racing IIRC. there should be a picture here http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/17159-jj-big-shoe/#entry602737 B

That sounds odd, I've never heard of significant drag and nothing breaking... Wheel bearings, stuck brake components, wasted U joints on the drive shaft are all I can think of. Could it have been bottomed out and rubbing on a wheel or something? Still, you'd have to notice that... Definitely keep us informed, this is an odd one. B

Glad it was an easy fix!! B

It all depends on how you source the parts. It is generally agreed that when changing to a manual, it is best to have a donor vehicle to pick off of. Say you bought a pathy with a broken timing belt for $800, you take all the parts off of it that you need, sell some parts here and then have it towed for scrap. It could cost you little other than your time... B

Superlift UCA question...and does it look bent?
Precise1 replied to Trogdor636's topic in The Garage
I suspect the 'bent' look comes from lens distortion, fisheye effect. I doubt you could tell by eye if they were bent, and if you could they would be really mangled. From my experience, the best way to tell if things line up is to bring a known straight spindle and some new bushings. If it assembles without issue, everything is straight... If you can get them at a good price, I'd say go for it. Yes, stock bushings but I recommend poly set as well. That's exactly what I have and it stiffens up the front end quite a bit (along with the tension rod bushing) B -
Yeah, thanks, blame it on me!! In reality, take care of yourself and your family, that takes priority of course. Best wishes for your child, I hope she recovers fully and quickly! Thanks for the update, the gauge pod will happen eventually... B
-
Well, I for one think that is a silly idea!! How would one's fan housing catch on fire if the debris couldn't get in? Be really slick and make a solid set that you can open at will to scoop air, as others have mentioned. Pink. Definitely Pink. B
-
Ouch!! If only your temp gauge worked, it might have warned you! ? I'd guess that the damage has been done also, and agree that you should source a HD version to install rather than bother with this one. Hell, do it yourself and might not cost that much at all. Just make sure you gets the lines right though... B

new product for the wd21 crowd but before....
Precise1 replied to fleurys's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Measuring with calipers I was getting the bushing length as 2.330 captive, the rod ends are obviously less wide. B -
5 SPEED transmission oil amount (1995 V6 4x4)
Precise1 replied to zack1978's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Yep. I put in 4 quarts of oil and a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, called it good. B -
5 SPEED transmission oil amount (1995 V6 4x4)
Precise1 replied to zack1978's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
7.6 pints equals 3.59614 liters, so they haven't caught on. An understandable error. Write to inform them (increased sales for same vehicle base) and maybe you can get your oil for free, just make sure it is 5 liters. The TSB goes up to 95, but the 96+ R50 uses the identical tranny with the exception of one thing, the fill hole is located higher up giving it a higher capacit. 5.1 liters is what they came up with for good reason, so that is what I used without issue when I had a 5 speed. It is not a pressurized system, so within reason, over fill doesn't matter and under fill=bearing starvation. B -
Ok, so not much luck locally. Too bad! Smaller things can be shipped, IIRC I have some replacement fog lights and the inserts they mount to left over from my first Pathy (with front end damage ). Let me make sure I can locate them/haven't sold them... Yeah, the damage does that. Not really a bad thing, but you certainly want to get it back running and to where it is legal and not a hazard too. Just find the balance... I'm sorry, I was unclear. JamesRich bought his from a company KMA that merged and formed something like Tactical Armor Group? Yeah, TAG, I got it right... http://www.tacticalarmorgroup.com/TAGStore/TAGStore/tabid/71/CategoryID/379/List/1/Level/a/productid/1773/Default.aspx That looks OK and is 1/2 the price of an ARB. Some people have had issues with their quality, but I haven't bought from them and can't say so look around and read reviews. B

Looks close to the damage a friend of mine has from a minor fender bender. Alkorahil is right as usual, start looking at junk yards or part outs. I bet you could get away with a replacement fender, hood, bumper, radiator and hammer out the rest. I do advise anyone who wants to keep their pathy to replace the stock bumper as they are next to useless (as proven in your photo). I have an ARB and I suspect it would fend off a flying quad 10x better, but yes, they are pricy if you can still find them. Best bet is to have a friend with a welder mock up a basic bumper for you and fix 2 problems at once. JamesRich has a good example of a basic but effective winch bumper so go look at his truck for ideas. B
