  1. Don't feel alone, I believe that applies to me also... x74 on knowing what you want to achieve before you start to make sure you don't waste time and $. For example, tires should always be upgraded but you don't know what type or size to buy until you identify your usage. B
  2. Well, you will probably lose power if anything, but yes people have done true duals and x overs. The thing is, it won't sound like most of the duals you have heard since I doubt you have heard many on a 3 liter v6 (180ish cubic inches). There are several threads on people doing this. Let me know if you need help finding them. B
  3. Just like your 'ed' thread... Shall I? B
  4. Mileage makes a big diffference in the price too. I paid $3200 for a 95XE 3 years ago. The important factors were bone stock so less abuse, 95% condition and 96k miles on it. B
  5. I installed a replacement sunroof in the R50 today due to destroyed seals. Not hard at all if you take your time and pay attention. My recommendation initially is screw any instructions, install the 'new' sunroof with the same shims(loosely), close it, shift its position so it seals evenly and tighten it down. Run it through the cycles and adjust as necessary. I suggest focusing on the upward seal so you can always help from below (gently!). Make sure to clean and lubricate the seals and surfaces with silicone spray. B
  6. The relative prices are bound to be different in different countries, and more vehicles are generally going to be more expensive in California than most other places in the country. B
  7. To me, this says that the timing belt broke and they had to fix some valves. I could be wrong, of course, so please ask! I'm guessing the latter half. Make sure you know and trust these people or that you have some recourse or you just may be buying someone elses problems. Hard to tell from here though... B
  8. Ok, don't drive and test the thing. Step one, make sure the cooler has flow. Step two, drop the pan and see what is in it. Step three, reassemble, top off drive and perform AT diagnostics as per FSM. Key here is not to keep messing with it before figuring out the issue. It may only be minor now... B
  9. Cool, sounds like a decent deal. Might want to ask specifically about the timing belt, and if no info, consider taking a look very soon. Just cheap insurance... B
  10. ^Basically this. Assume the worst about the tranny and act accordingly. If it lasts for a long time after a tranny flush and linkage adjustment, then you got lucky. If not... If you do get it, clean the radiator cooler, install an inline filter and a temp gauge. These will be two key elements to care for and monitor the tranny... B

  12. I was going to agree with the 'give it a shot yourself' crowd, but you've come to that conclusion already... Yes, cleaning things up and making room will help in the long run. consider changing the waterpump and or coolant bypass hose, as those take 1/2 of the timing belt repair time just to get to. Go to the Garage section and download the Factory Service Manual (FSM) that is pinned at the top. I believe 94 is the oldest year, but it aapplies to 95% of the stuff under the hood. Start reading... I'll dig up a few threads for you this afternoon. B These should get you started and you can search or ask for any specifics. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/22447-begin-head-gasket-change-tues/ http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/14484-replacing-bent-valves/page__hl__%22bent+valves%22 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/7681-pulling-headshead-gasket/
  13. Some of us run an inline filter to catch any sediment which should solve the clogging issue, and a temperature gauge whuich should tell us if there is ever an issue (unlikely). The reasom to run through the radiator cooler is faster warmups and more consistent operating temperatures. Yes, that cooler should be a sufficient size. Install a temp gauge and be certain... B
  14. Absolutely, Thanks!! 6'1" here with 36" inseam so it sounds spot on for me. B
  15. It looks good to me. Any fitment issues? Do they interfere with vision? B
  16. I recall that someones cam walked on them whe one of the retainers failed. Maybe yours did that and isn't driving the dizzy? I would pull the #1 plug (front passenger, easy to get to) and see of you get piston movement when the belt doesn't move. If so, I'd tear it all apart and look at the crank snout... B
  17. It looks good after you adjusted it. I say run with it... One Q, what is your height ass to eyeballs? B
  18. I recommend putting them on the bull bar, they won't interfere with vision. Only issue is that you said they are HID? Make sure the ballast in the back clears the hood. My 4" Hella Optilux didn't so I had to put them on the bottom deck until I make some mounting brackets for them. It'll look something like this... B Oh, have you upgraded the stock headlight wiring yet? It makes a big difference. As was said, ultimately, how many lights do you need?
  19. Just for transparency, I pruned a few posts, mine included that were far off topic. No problems, carry on... B
  20. I found that the splines were binding a bit preventing me from easily removing the T-bars. Once I loosened the 3 anchor bolts, they basically slid right out. This was with the truck suspended by the frame and wheels drooping IIRC. B
  21. I don't blame you. You didn't get what you paid for, and it is that simple. Return and special order away, just remember that odds are the guy trying to get it straightened out isn't the one who made the mistake. Be gentle on the public service guys and everyone wins... For plug wires, I recommend STI. German design, made in the US and I've never had any problems. http://www.karlynsti.com/Folders/Karlyn_STI_Ignition_Wire_Sets.htm B
  22. Yeah, road debris does weird things so I'd prefer my oil path wasn't in that location/direction of it. Hopefully you'll never have an issue. A shield could make the difference, but a minor colision could disable the vehicle too. I once got a flat on the rear tire of my motorcycle at 50 mph on the freeway, it turned out to be a 3/8 bolt stuck through the sidewall if the tire, smacking the swing arm every rotation. Tire went flat instantly and I managed to pull over safely, but it easily could have been worse. I respect road debris. B
  23. Well, it would have been a lot more concise then. Yeah, the stock "cooler" in the radiator is mostly relying on the coolant temp to keep it at 180, but we all know that it can run way higher in the mountains, when towing or if it clogs. Probably why some of the R50s came with a secondary cooler infront of the condensor, small, maybe 8k btu? When I put a larger cooler on mine, I will also re route everything so it flows out of the tranny to the temp sender, through the inline filter, into the 'stock' cooler in the radiator, to an external cooler up front, back to the tranny.
