  1. for future reference use a wedge between the chain and the tensioner after bringing it up on tdc, then you can remove the cam gear and just drop the chain down, after the heads off there is a bracket you can mount to the block and install the cam gear and chain so you can turn the engine over. My first pathy was a z24 what a dog but it was cheap
  2. The same reason I do all my own work a side note the article said he was working on the trans? why are the front wheels off
  3. picked up a badlands 12.000 lb winch at harbor frieght on sale for $299.00, if it only gets me unstuck once out in the desert it's paid for itself
  4. any reports on them lately, I know they have gotten some pretty bad reports in the past
  5. it could also be the cvr if those are the only 2 gauges and the rest are idiot lights
  6. Getting ol red ready for a 4 day desert run going out to the Blythe area an look for geodes and other gem stones, an if it gets too hot I'll hit the river and hunt for carp with the bow
  7. my 88 is a auto my 94 is a 5 speed love them both, but when I do the 3.3 swap for the 88 it will probably turn into a 5 speed
  8. We'll be coming through in April or May. 70 to Grand Junction to Pueblo then south east into OK then TX west into NM AZ and home Probably in the 94 better milage then the 88
  9. the OLs 94 will not slide forward when the back is tipped
  10. they slide, also if you wire in the window controls use the back window switch for the drivers door the passenger side will work fine for the passenger door
  11. I'll stick with my warns over autos any day
  12. pull the carpet back and youll see the plate above the fuelpump/sender, be careful removing the fuel lines there may be pressure in them. if you need to completely remove it there is a multi plug inside of the rr tire area
  13. or fires, we live on the riverside side just off the 74
  14. the pilot bushing should only make noise if the clutch is disengaged an and the tranny is in gear, or clutch is engaged and tranny is in neutral. otherwise it should be turning with the input shaft
  15. Main divide starts a little above Fallbrook and if all the gates are open will end at the 91, you can hit it either way from the Ortega highway
  16. first thing I'd check is the coax, are you running rg 58 or rg8 ?
  17. Finally got all the bushings and pins for the spare tire carrier on Mamas 94 pathy, spent probably a total of 4 1/2 hrs on the damn thing but it's quiet now
  18. Pulled the spare tire carrier off the 94, spent about 45 minutes trying to drive the pins out (yes I ground the one end off) When I did my 88 a couple of years ago the whole thing only took about an hour (sure love Calif cars) the 94 slowly migrated from the midwest to Idaho where I bought it 4 years ago. Soaking it with PB Blaster and will try again tomorrow might have to break out the torch on this one
  19. yeah that's a lot easier then trimming the coil on the antenna
  20. nope they were both on the back bumper, it was kind of a popular set up back in the early 70s, at least in socal
  21. I'll have to agree with almost all of that except for the dual antennas or as we called them co-phased I was running 108 fiberglass whips on my wife's ford maverick and the match was 1.2 to 1 with the Palomar off, with it on the match went up a little but the 60 watts sure made it talk. Roof mounts we would drill the hole above the dome light and run the coax between the roof and headliner. On my pathy I'm using a mirror mount on the spare tire carrier and a 4 ft firestick they're easy to tune if you know what to do
  22. well it's getting cold here at 4:50 pm it's already down to 73 f
  23. Pulled the gears from my parts engine and installed them on the 88 with a new round tooth timing belt, was getting tired of changing it every 60.000 miles
