  1. Yeah I installed a carrier on the blue 87<-- but it' was like back in 96 or 97 I don't remember about the side plates, I pulled it and a A/C for it out of a JY
  2. did yours have the dimples for the holes for the under hatch brackets, my 87 did and I just very carefully drilled the holes out and the threaded brackets were already there
  3. replaced the alt on the 88, thought about washing it, but we are supposed to get some rain here finally
  4. replaced the alt on the 88, thought about washing it, but we are supposed to get some rain here finally
  5. also some options were dealer installed A/C and fog lights to name a couple
  6. Loved cruising in my 69 CJ5 doors off top off and windshield strapped down to the hood. Back in the 60s when you passed another fourwheeler you'd give each other the high sign, then in the 70s it was just with your own brand, times change.
  7. that round thingy is a radio suppesor
  8. sounds like you have a gassy battery, or a snake in there. Be very careful hydrogen gas is VERY explosive
  9. it's been awhile but I think I used a spacer between the fan and the bearing in the case on my 88 2 piece pulley
  10. parts will run about $40.00 and about 2 or 3 hrs to replace the bushings, lubing can be done with a needle fitting or you can tap the grease holes and install zerks just remember to remove the zerks after lubing
  11. My 88 auto with 31s at 65 I'm doing about 2750, at 3000 rpm I'm doing around 70
  12. I've found it's easier to siphon the gas out of the jerry can to the filler neck
  13. some beautiful wheeling in New Mexico, I'm sure you;ll love it when you get there. OH and :welcome:
  14. yeah and he lives on the cold and foggy side of the hill
  15. if you have any probs with the 4x4 emblems sticking use 3M molding tape the stuff with the red backing I get mine from NAPA
  16. looks nice I see my 2 old ones in the center. Don't pay any attention to your gas mileage now that they're up there, it's like a little brick wall on top of a big brick wall
  17. Been planning on doing this to my 88, just looking for the right salvage vehicle
  18. and I complain went it hits 40, I also complain when it hits 110
  19. I don't remember what year but prob somewhere in the late 80s early 90s, but the later models were plastic with 2 fans but they were wider. The ones I installed on my 88 and 94 were both metal shrouds with 2 fans and fit the radiator almost perfect. My laptop is all messed up. Try going to photobucket and looking at dosvagabonds check the mods for electric fan I've got a bunch of pathy stuff stored there
  20. the way I did mine was the metal maxima fan, the temp sensor in the bottom of the maxima radiator and the fitting that it screws into, I used the metal tube that's in the tbi units upper hose and soldiered the sensor fitting into the metal tube, and a switch on the dash for the high speed fan. On tbi units you can drill a hole below the vent on the metal tube, on the mpfi I just ground off the vent and drilled out the hole to fit the sensor fitting. I'm running both my 88 and my 94 this way
  21. When I was still at Pacific Nissan We'd get Nissans that had been partially submerged, we'd strip them down and let carpet and and interior dry and install a new eccu, You'd be suprised how many of the old eccus would still work after drying out I was able to salvage a radio out of a 88 hardbody the the lifeguards had submerged, when I got the truck in my stall you could see where the water line was half way up the instrument cluster. I pulled the radio and pulled the top and bottom covers and rinsed it out in hot water, took it home that afternoon gave it a soapy bath and rinse. A week later it was working even the cassette player. Sheesh the ramblings of an old man, see what all you young guys have to look forward to
  22. You'll prob need a puller for the crank vibration dampner
  23. Taurus fans, Maxima fans both work. The Max fan fits the rad almost perfect if you use the older style with the metal tubing on it, just notch it a bit to clear the gearbox. The Taurus fan is a single 2 speed fan, the max fan is a dual fan setup
  24. we did a 2500 mile trip last Oct in the 88 and averaged a little over 17 per tank on the road, 1 tank we got 17.8. We left So Ca went to Grand Junction Co to Gallup Nm to Laughjin Nv, then the Barstow area where we playedl in the desert for 3 days
