Relace Starter Motor in WD21 for the real world.
vagabond replied to vf24renegade's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I've found the easiest way 3/8 drive14mm wobbly impact socket 2 12 inch extensions that will take care of the starter bolts drop the idler arm and the starter will slid out if a autotragic drop the cooler lines. It does help to be an retired mech with the right tools -
that's why they're called techs instead of mechanics now days. parts replacers. I never did any rearends while with Nissan did a few trannys, back about 1980 I spent 3 days at a Ford school on 8 3/4 inch rearends, still have my inch lb beambar torque wrench that was used to check the rolling torque. Excuse the ramblings of an old mechanic

if the system wasn't open and your just topping off, top it off thru the suction side. watch the sight glass on the reciever dryer and stop filling when it clears up when it's low it will look like soap bubbles when it's full it will be clear, looks almost the same when it is completely empty. DO NOT OVERCHARGE

the electric mirrors are 6 1/2 by 4 1/2 the manuals are approx 7 by 5, the heated and nonheated are the same

if the filter is straight down it will be in the way of the alt,I swapped the oil filter mount for a 2000 exterra oil filter mount that angles the filter forwards

not sure if this has been mentioned before on the 3.0 to 3.3 swap, the 3.3 Im doing was an automatic it has a pilot bushing in the crank for the converter that has to be pulled if your changing over to a stick and the bushing for the stick has to be installed. This one has Jim Conner front suspension and is double shocked on all 4 corners, as I was cleaning it up I collected almost $10.00 in change, hopefully it will be running by next weekend
-
pull the left rear panel and you'll find it living there with a few of it's friends
-
waiting for the clutch kit from rockauto, if I didn't have to work this weekend it would probably be running, the 3.3 is just sitting waiting to go in

Pulling the engine out of 92 pathfinder
vagabond replied to Dizer92Pathfinder's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
the plate is between the starter and the block 2 bolts hold it to the block, remove it and start removing the converter bolts when I did my 88 auto I had everything disconnected and jacked the front of the tranny up as far as it would go, that gave me enough clearance to clear the flex plate from the bellhousing didn't do anything else to the tranny. I'm working on a 88 5 speed now and I"m going to try and slide the tranny back, hope it works. hope this helps -
got the white 88 in and started getting it ready for the engine swap, decided to go with the 3.3
-
top of the alt is 2 bolts 12 mm heads remove them, also if you follow the wiring back to the plugs you could disconnect there and pull the wiring with the alt, personally I'd disconnect at the alt
-
do they still have that big thermometer on the east side of the 17 just south of Black Canyon
-
check and see if the oil filter is angled forward, if the alt is on the passenger side its probably just a 3.3 unless the japanese engines are different, I used the accs from a 2000 exterra alt was on drivers side filter angled forward an ps was on the pass side, onl prob was th A/C

dash is out 88 wiring is out, 94 wiring in carpets back in 94 dash tomorrow, it just got too damm hot to finish it this afternoon
-

I used the maxima fan on my 88, until I installed the 3.3 then went with the fan that came with the 3.3. not sure if the clutch is any heavier duty but the fan is and the 88 runs just as cool or cooler
-
my 95 was acting like that I replaced the dist no more probs
-
nothing like that on either of my 88s, stick or auto or the 94 or 95
