  1. I thought they all made that sound.. meh.. no biggie, carry spares.
  2. Dana 60.. and you will never break another CV shaft. I did read someplace that maxima shafts were better....... maybe worth the looksee.
  3. the problem using teh EB D44's is that due to location of the center section, you WILL have oil pan issues. Full width D44 or waggy 44 does not interfere.
  4. i had my winch for 6 months before i ever used it.......... i'd get a locrite, and sliders.
  5. could be a poorly set up rear end. what kind of oil did you use? pull your drive shaft, and check for any end or side play.
  6. to do it properly, your going to have to completely tear it apart. You will need. new bearings (very expensive) seals gear puller and press, Inch pount torque wrench Dial / depth mic Locktite gear marking compound. Possibly new shims for the pinion depth If you have never done it before, have somebody else do it.
  7. you might have to replace the arms completely. not really sure..
  8. a possible problem. in general when you change your lifters you should change your cam.. yes i know this sounds rediculous. but new cams wear into new lifters and they ride along happily for a long time. but when you put new lifters on an already worn in cam, your cam wears in again and sometimes, not so happily. I'd check your cam for a flat spot. and if you don't believe me, go find yourself an old school mechanic (and not the backyard redneck type) and ask him if its a good idea to put new lifters on an old cam.
  9. put a matching one on the other side and tell everybody it was made that way.
  10. when a pathy runs fine, then doesn't start one day. check coil wire. check that the ROTOR actually turn while cranking it. THEN go to other things. all pathy's now are high milage. most people never change thier timing belts (yes we do cause we know about it).. all it takes is a hard down shift and pop. Down shifting is the main reason i've seen timing belts pop. not just on nissans but other makes as well that run timing belts.
  11. Yup crap.. if you search this site for seafoam, have the people have good results, half have bad results.. why take a chance when its 50/50? ONLY OIL GOES IN AN ENGINE ALL THE OTHER STUFF IS MARKETING BS
  12. also check tranny mount. Mine did this, until i changed it.
  13. I see your point be, but i can bet you that my trail rig is in better running condition that most DD's on this site. If a DD breaks down on the side of the road.. meh, call a tow. If my trail rig breaks down in 3 feet of snow going over the mountains from Boston bar BC to Harrison (about 10 hours this tme of year) who the hell is gonna come get me. There is Preventative Maint. and there is just being silly. have you ver heard of a tentioner failing? why would you change the cam seals at 100K. one of mine just started to drip a year ago, at over 360k. as for being procative.. when was the last time you changed your diff oil, or re-packed wheel bearings, or greased ujoints.. etc.. I do mine about every 3-4 wheeling trips.. (diff oil about every 10 hard trips due to water crossings). I grease front axle u-joints every 1 or 2 trips.
  14. sounds like a lot of BS to me. why would you change all that stuff? why would you change a thermostat that could go bad.. hell the one in the box could go bad. or a tentioner.. it could go bad.. looks like a marketing scam to get you to spend more moeney. IF you were doing a complete rebuild.. sure. I have changed my v belts once in 15 years. my timeing belt 3 times (i just do i when i'm in there wrenching cause i can do it so fast.) so, your gonna spend over 200 bucks to replace a 17 dollar part. good try ont thier behalf.
  15. nothing wrong with the metal has alot to do with climate and where you are. My 87 has NO rust on it.
  16. over inflation COULD have been hiding a problem. improper balance..etc. etc. could be a bad cord...
  17. i'm not going to do a 100% calculation on this.. but thik of it this way. area of 10 Square inches at 10psi will support 100 lbs. area of 20 Square inches at 5psi will support 100 lbs. so with that said, differnet size tires (which will ultimately have a different area) will require different pressures to properly support the same weight.
  18. this is only if the tire company knows exactly the weight and distribution of weight in your vehicle. its all weight vs area, vs pressure. You might need 10psi of air pressure in a load rated E tire for a pathfinder of say 31 x 10.5 but in a load C range on a tire that is 9.5 wide may need the same. its all a guess unless you do the test. and tire manufacureres will tell you the same. Why is pressure vs area so hard for people to understand?
  19. If you can't get it. get a hammer. If that doesn't work, get a bigger hammer. If you break it, it needed to be replaced anyway.
