  1. Had the same thing happen on my buddies Kia Sephia. and when the converter came apart it started running like @!*%. i.e. Symptom of failure. (on his anyway) but that doesn't count. cause it didn't stop RUNNING. even a fuel pump that dies will generally show signs of power loss prior to failure unless its the ELECTRIC MOTOR. again, not being an ass, as this has been my experience for many moons. I really hate to say it, but i really hope its not his timing belt.
  2. Other than the timeing belt, Name 1 thing mechanically that will happen without any warning or symptons to a perfectly running rig. seriously wanna here it, and no i'm not being a smart ass.
  3. with the exception of the timing belt, everything you mentioned is electrical. even the fuel pump dieing is electrical. only about .01% of the time does a vehicle that runs fine dies for no reason and its not electrical.
  4. when a vehicle is fine one minute and not the next. its electrical. ALLWAYS
  5. just to eliminate it, pull your distributor cap and crank the engine, see if the distributor turns. where in canada are you?
  6. well, i have answere this question multiple times on the site, why should i answer the same question every day. and i've never heard the term positive locking diffential and i've been working on 4x4's and axles for years, and have installed several locker and done gear setups. besides, that is not what your question stated you asked about a positive rear locker and just hte fact that calimini thinks the locrite is second to none, make me think even less of calmini. (salesmen will tell you anything you want to hear, i'm telling you the trueth)
  7. you do have to have the right offset of your wheels. the rubbing is usually only an issue up front, you can crank the torsion bars a bit and level it to giv eyou a little more clearance.
  8. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/limited-slip-lockers-differentials.htm
  9. there is no such thing as a positive locker. what you are thinking is called an automatic locker meaning you don't have to do anything i.e. detroit, grizzly, locrite, Aussie. a selectable locker such as an ARB or electo locker or ox is the other type. In addtion do you want a lunch box locker? do you want a full carrier locker? a spool?
  10. in general is a bad idea if you are even considering tire where. if you coast aorund corners you will have the same action as no locker, if you power around corners you will see inreased tire wear. and search, this has been convered extensively on this site.. LOTS and LOTS
  11. do a SAS. mine drops right out.
  12. seen it on jeeps alot. never on a pathfinder.
  13. its pretty easy to tell if a jy motor is no good. Keep your eyes out, you can find cheap JY motors. BTW, how much is that kit your showing?
  14. Air Idle valve. mine has been this way for years, I even drive the new one the same way cause i'm used to it.
  15. if the inside of your rear wheel is wearing unevenly, i'd check my wheel bearings. i.e. the inside has less tread than the outside
  16. if you have high steer, you have crossover. but just because you have cross over doesn't mean you have high steer. cross over is a generic term used when the drag link, crosses over from one side of the frame to the other.Vs the push pull system where the drag link is connected to the top of the drivers side knuckle. thats called "push pull"
  17. cross over steer and high steer go hand in hand jarred. You can do it, but it will be really high. You will also have to move a pan hard bar up wich will cause clearance issues with oil pan. I think you will loose travel with high steer.
  18. if / when you get a different ECU, Go jim Wolf.
  19. just go get another beer while its catching up.
  20. impacts will be fine. its only the rotary tools you will have issues with air ratchet won't be too bad, but pneumatic die grinders will run for about 5 min and your tank will be empty
  21. 12 gallon, you won't be able to use any rotary tools like an air ratchet, die grinder etc. too small, rotary tools use a ton of air. I have a 20 gallon and i have a hard time using the rotary's. but an impact nailer..ect. would be ok.
  22. sliders need to be of a "boat side" style. like mine.
  23. you can get brand new coils for under 150 bucks. why spend 70 on spacers or an entire weekend of work to relocate stuff. check out James duff wildhorses 4x4.. i'ver an both. actually, i have a set i might sell for the right price 5.5" lift with winch.
