I don't know about where nefarious lives, but here they've banned any weed killer that actually works.

You're right, because when you shift too low, you are making the engine struggle and the ecu will just dump in more fuel. I got 19mpg in mine last tank, and I have 33s. I thought it was a fluke too, but I have been doing the same driving style and I am seeing an increase on the kms per tank so far according to the trip meter.

Drill the arms and add your own zerks. For the idler arm bushings this guy makes replacements: http://bandit4x4.com/4x4-truck-parts/steering-parts/idler-arm-bushing-replacements/

Put a tarp down and drive over it.

Better extend that diff vent hose!
-
If you look around there is another full size truck that uses the same shock as a lifted pathy, I forget what it was. But it's pretty cheap and has the right bushing on both ends. If you're lazy like me Edit: I used the Rancho RS5112. So anything with the same specs length wise as that will work.

Don't buy the cardone new CV shafts!! They suck! I bought a set for my wd21 (who cares, they're almost the same) and I got an awful vibration that felt like my driveshaft was bent up front. Turns out those cvs are junk for anything but a stock height truck.

Does 4.0 make a whining noise from the engine? Heres why
adamzan replied to byob's topic in 2005-2012 R51 Pathfinders
This happened on my parents 3.5L. It had 160k km (around there). It was real loud. My dad has a '11 xterra with the 4.0 and I've told him to lookout because his is still under warranty. -
t belt whining, will go away right ?
adamzan replied to stabworthy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
If its loud all the time, its bad. But if its only when the trucks real warm, and the a/c is on, its probably fine. -

You need a new fan clutch -
Just go get one of those transfer pumps. Or if you can, attach a long piece of hose to the bottle so you can hold it upside down. Driving to town probably won't hurt the tcase. Its probably been dark for years. Mine was black almost!

My friend has a 70's skidoo citation. Pretty cool.

How is this still being argued? It's a 4 speed automatic, including overdrive. That .5 you're feeling is the torque converter locking. Ever notice how the rpms can fluctuate any other time? When the torque converter locks they stay steady. You can drive as fast as you want in 3rd, and it won't hurt anything. You shouldn't use overdrive if you tow, anyway. If you leave the O/D switch off, and drive faster than a certain speed (it's around 85-90km/h for me) it will lock the torque converter without the overdrive on.

If it sounds like this, it won't go away. If its just a subtle noise it probably will. -
Deep water submersion with the Pathfinder
adamzan replied to SpecialWarr's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
If all your vents are still intact, you should have no problems. I do that all the time. -
Yep ^. The fluid looked clean on the xterra tranny I bought, they told me it had 140,000km. When I pulled the pan I found the factory nissan filter in there, absolutely nothing on the magnet either! FWIW this is the third transmission put into my truck. The previous owner changed it with a used pathy one and it lasted about 70k km...

To be honest I haven't replaced any, but that is because I haven't really wheeled it much and the stock ones are fine for now. I will at some point though.
-
Yes, you can pull off the trim in the back and there are some linkage rods that control the lock. Find the one by the lock actuator and see if it will pop open. Does your key not work in the rear lock? It does more than just open the glass.
-
Why do you need to change all the flex hoses? The rear flex lines for disc don't move at all. I have the same lift and have no issues, been that way for years. If anything the only line you should touch is the one that goes from the cross member to the T on the axle.

Both. I learned all the Cisco IOS stuff, and near the end there was a strong focus on security. There was also a lot of Linux and scripting. I am half tempted to go take some night courses on web stuff, or programming. But I need to find a job first.

ATF does work well. My friend used it to free a stuck lifter in his VW. I also used to run it in my old wd21 to keep the chatter down.
-
Having done this kind of trip myself in my pathy, I'll tell you your gonna have a great time. Before I left I put new brake pads and rotors, and changed all the fluids as they needed it anyway. Most importantly make sure your cooling system is in good shape. Clean your radiator out, mine had mud in it and she would get a little warm with the ac on. Like B said change the fuel filter and air filters. I did 15k km round trip, which meant three oil changes in a very short period of time.
-
If you got the tension close enough and didn't forget to tighten any bolts there isn't much to go wrong. Unless you used cheap ebay crap.
-
The one on my old 95 was starting to crumble, but it was the original 95 radiator. Otherwise I've never had any problems. I have the worm gear clamps right now but I like the stock ones better. They seal a lot better in the cold.

Remember how bad mine was? I did make it all the way home but that @!*% was about to fly off when I got back!
