I saw that also, and like the idea... My truck is for general purpose hauling/driving, winter/nasty weather transportation and camping/wheeling fun. I have no need for welding things up. LSD on both ends sounds like a nice compromise !! B
-
LOL, I posted a picture in the calandar thread. Take a look, thats just T-bars indexed and JGC springs, no body lift. That would help you a lot !! B
-
Lift the truck, if it cant touch, it won't get damaged... B
-
Only real way to check it is take it off and compress it full stroke. If it binds or does anything wierd, it's probably bad. Also, if it is leaking, its trashed... Ok fess up mountain man, what did you do ??? B
-
Oh yes my friend... The one end will be a hex stem about 1/4" wide and 1" long that will clamp nicely in the drill 3 jaw chuck. The other end will be the square needed for the socket. Many variations are available as well as socket drive sizes. Good ones will have the spring loaded ball to hold the socket on. Very handy item to have. Should cost about $5 and can be found at any decent hard ware store or even some automotive supply stores. B

LOL, its becomming quite the joke, eh ? B

Slick, I believe he was on topic in his own special way... V6, I understand you wanting something different, but you don't like the patrol ? Other than being smaller I thought they were fine vehicles... Whats your thought ? B
-
Hmm, makes sense... Sounds like a good reason not to buy one of them there 2 door thingamagiggies... :o B
-
Show off... Sheesh ! pssd B

OK, enough ! Creative editing by admin aside, you are getting carried away ! This is to be a constructive site, not destructive site. Whats with the overt antagonism and the name calling ?? What are you, children ? I sorry if that was misunderstood V6, but that was an obvious tongue in cheek to get people to respond, after my personal input on you subject. It was not an excuse for personal attacks ! A bit of friendly sparring is fine, but to start in on personal attacks or goad people on is totally unnecessary and pointless ! Dont even start with the who me crap. Play nice !! No joke !! Bernard

Sorry Harbie, I'm ALL for functionality, but you have to admit, thats kinda cheesy.. Then on the other hand I'm also a believer of 'if it ain't broke, dont fix it' so there it stays. It's all cool Bud, heck, my front end still isn't right and it needs fixing !! But tell me, will it hold a foot long from Subway ?? Eerp, Ok, I read better, but you sure a 1/2' wont fit with some wire marks ?? B

#1) Reliability: My old 720 KingCab 4x4 was the best vehicle I have ever owned. I still wonder if I should have rebuilt it, but due to situations regardless of hindsight, it wasn't practical. Ok, so Nissan proved its self. I did a lot of research and found that the body, drive train and engine of the Pathy is excellent. I thought about a PU, but I don't need one much and was sick of hauling other peoples crap for 10 years and liked the idea of locking things on a trip. #2) Price: For anything comparable, the pathy was the best buy by far. I could have gone lower maybe with a trooper, but I'm not dumb. I wanted another Nissan. #3) I like the simple lines of the truck (with the fender bulges). Clean, straight with a hint of tough. Just like me... Just kidding. I was looking for the lowest trim I could find. I DONT want whoopdie power gizmos on a truck I plan to wheel. The lighter and simpler the better ! If I could have found manual windows, I'd be happier. I'm still happy, but still have to correctly fix the damage I did on that dark rainy morning in the parking lot when I spaced out and rammed the light pole. BUT we wont go into that !!! B

LMAO !!, Aww, come on, give him something to tirade about !! B

Here is something I ran across. It basically says some of what has been said here in so many different threads. It's nothing that will impress the guru's but is good general reading for the rest of us all in one article. Interesting notes include 25% more oil pressure by installing a 300zx oil pump (good for any engine rebuilders), why the 2 door pathy production stopped (F-ing government and lameass US auto makers) and has a nice schematic of the pathy rear suspension. Ok, enough of that... Take 5 minutes and read. http://www.off-road.com/nissan/ref01.html B Just scroll down a page or two for a repost...

I have seen plenty of 3, 6, 10, gallon air tanks that are just for air storage. Those work in a pinch, are easy to set up in series with a compressor and probably more reliable, useful, portable and with more capacity than a bumper. 88, how many fills do you get out of a 5lb CO2 tank for your 33's (say from 10 to 25 lbs) and starting from what pressure ? I'm guessing the tank is 2 gallons max ?? B

Hmm, informative, but leaves it up to the user, their uses and the terrain, as it should be. I'm no offroad guru. I'll qualify that by saying that I have driven 4x4 nissans for 13 years and most of my experience is in a 720 with open diff which I have never gotten stuck. Call it skill, luck or cowardice... My thoughts are that if you have LSD, thats a lot better than open diff, so put the locker up front, not to mention I believe you need an open diff to install a locker anyway. If you have open diff in the rear, put the locker in the rear, no doubt about it. If you can afford it (and are serious about off road) put the manual ARB in back and an autolocker in front. Reason being the front will grab when it can and the rear will push constantly without messing with the steering too much. Anyone who has been in a difficult situation (while moving) knows that accurate steering is important ! I'm no way near on par with 88, Mookie or V6, but with LSD and the suspension jacked, I can creep and claw my way many places. Personally, I play the 'don't get stuck' game, but maybe thats a mentality I learned from month long solo excursions. B

Is there a "whine, bark bark' category ?? B
-
Actually, my vote is invalid. I am blind so I have never seen the front of the truck. I just let the seeing eye dog drive it. She barks and whines before she gets in, but I'm not sure if thats good or bad. Sorry to mess up the count.... B
-
CHICKEN WIRE !!?? Slick, don't make me come down there and beat you !! You can do much better than that !! GRRR !! B
-
Nah V6, he actually has a nice clean ride. My pathy is far uglier... Check the pict in the calandar thread... B
-
Well, it seems that 33% think the front end looks better than most while 27% really don't care. For so few votes, thats a pretty tight cut between the eye candy crowd and the functionality crowd. Personally, I did my homework and chose the Pathy for reliability, price, and looks in that order. I rather like the looks of the WD21, but when it comes to the front end, other people look at it far more than I do. If they think its ugly, GREAT !! Maybe that'll give them doubts as to if they want to get near it... B
-
First, no worries Bud, it's fine where it is, we're not that anal here.. Second, yes, I bet someone here will want it. Third, thats the same one I have in my 95xe and didn't know there were different ones. Fourth, what tilt ? Mine is loose and I can lift it out but it doesn't really tilt or anything. But then I don't lean on it when I drive. Fifth, what with me counting the points ??? Sheesh ! B
-
Liking the look or not (not), doesn't that reduce your light output and beam blending ? B
-
Yow Runnerman, that thing is a mess !! It actually held up reasonable well for multiple rolls. Just glad you are ok !! "black ice" yet another reason not to live where it snows !! I like my pavement reliable... B
-
LOL, you're fishing... Ok, I'll bite. Saying nothing about how they are built (I don't know them well), the body style is that of a jacked up station wagon. I don't see any signature or body style, be it nice or ugly; just plain generic. It can definitely be made better with aftermarket mods (some members have nice looking ones) but as for out of the factory, its just blah... On the road, I have to look twice to make sure its a Pathfinder, and then I look away quick. I have previously described it as a "Subaru Outback with a glandular issue" and nothing has changed... B
