MMMM, could beeeee... I'm in California, and the three job prospects I currently have are in New Mexico (not more than 800 miles), Massoftwoshets (about 3000), and Florida (3000+). Never considered the freight option, that makes a lot of sense... See, thats why I posted this thread. Keep the info coming folks, please... B
-
Ok, thought that may be alright... Still think it is ok for maybe 3000 miles ? B
-
Right on, thats the spirit !! Yeah, the old 'get what you pay for' does apply at times, but we have all gotten great deals also; sometimes it's just hit and miss... Please let us know what you think when you get it, and if there are any install issues or long (short) term faults. We are all a guinnea pigs one time or another... B
-
Ok, that is sort of what I figured, but what do you mean by 'on the rears' ? On the rear tires, meaning the front tires on a car dolly ? B
-
Well, it definitely sounds sensor/electronic related... I recommend you run the ECU diagnostic routine first to see what it says. The directions are to be found in the Garage section under Tech Section at the top. Let us know what you find. B
-
OK, that narrows it down a bit... Nah, what I got out of it is just trailer the damn thing... I have run into the 'we wont rent you a car trailer because your truck is not big enough' routine even though it was a 70's chevy 3/4 ton... WTF do you need ?? A Bradley ? Hmm, speaking of that, I also have a VW bug that would need ferrying so... Maybe I could get them both on there... :o I figure that a mid sized box van semi-loaded would be rated to tow a car trailer, but maybe this is just an assumption... Cost isn't much of a concern as most companies will provide relocation assistance that will cover most or all of the bill, I'm just trying to figure out in advance what is required so I can plan and stick them with the bill... Any other car hauling information/adventures welcome !! B
-
Job wise, it looks like I will have to relocate if I am going to stay in my field of diamond turning. That is fine with me, but the logistics of that imply a Uhaul truck and towing the Pathy. I know that different vehicles have different requirements as to if it can be towed, how fast, need of a car dolly for 1 axle (front or rear), trailer only, etc. Does anyone know the parameters for a manual shift 4x4 WD21 ? I'd guess neutral on both sticks would be fine to tow, but I'd hate to have issues. Just trying to look ahead... Thanks. B
-
Well, I'd put in a 4x4 tranny with transfer case and no drive line, just don't shift that lever... Also, look for a donor vehicle so you have it all and don't have to hunt and peck for parts. Most of it is covered here... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5529 B

Still shaking after new tires and alignment
Precise1 replied to Matthew K's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yes, generally it is, but more on front wheeled drive cars, and then it is more in corners and/or acceleration. My GF's car drive fine without noise, just vibrated on the freeway over 70 mph, more when you let off the gas and the CV's didn't have power to 'force' them to comply. Mechanics were going to replace the rims, I said BS, drove it, and said CV's. They replaced them, and problem gone. They actually apologised and removed the 'diagnostic' part from the bill. Back to your issue, other long shots could MAYBE be loose or compromised motor or tranny mounts, or the universals on the drive shaft. Do they have zerks on them ? A shot of grease can't hurt... All techincally possible, but now I'm blazing away at shadows in the dark blindfolded... B -
Just did a Timing Belt replacement
Precise1 replied to IndianRider's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
You are a good friend, and he is the type of person that makes my eyes cross... 'Religously changed the oil every year', LMAO... Well, as you said, I guess he can afford it, and sometimes ignorance is bliss... B -
Still shaking after new tires and alignment
Precise1 replied to Matthew K's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Hmm, that is getting strange (and frustrating I bet !). I'd be wondering about the rim myself. What kind of rim is it ? Did you, the wifey, the son curbshoot the truck or anything ?? I would say remove that suspect rim (If you can still pinpoint it) and look at the edge for any impact scores, bent lips, check the backside for cracks or split welds if it applies. Also inspect the mounting contact surfaces for anything that could put it out of the rotational plane Fogettaboutit... This is certainly a valid and baffling issue; that 1/2 the reason we are all here... For advice. After thought, could the rotors be significantly warped ? Does it shake more when you let off the gas than when accelerating ? My GF's honda had that issue, and it was the CV's, as I guessed. I know, completely different animal, but dont the CV's always spin on the R50's ? Shooting in the dark now... B -
No, it's a completely different motor. I think he put in a Corvair or Citroen motor or something... *Hint* Look at V6's signature... B
-
I believe those holes are there to allow any water that gets past your window seals to drain out. Have you looked up in them to see if there is a screw ? Hmm, now I'm curious. I'll peek tomorrow, but I pretty sure about the first answer. B
-
Hmmm, well said... B
-
She-it, seems fine to me. Buy it now and it only costs $25, thats not much of a gamble... Let us know what you think. B
-
:X Ok, I rode that too far, I admit it. Hell, I'm human too... B
-
Well, I did not see it stated anywhere that he was certain that is what he currently had. Either I'm blind or stupid. Either way, my input is useless. B
-
Seems to me it's good to know where you are before you look to where you want to be, but I guess Just trying to help. I'd determine exactly what gears I had before swapping, be it pulling from a wrecking yard, or buying new and paying for the install... Good luck Bud. B
-
Got ya M, it's just I have seen too many people keep asking without getting on their back and actually looking. Sorry, no slight intended ! Ok, 88 posted the link, cool ! I need to download it myself, but dial up sucks for things like that... B
-
Sorry, only have a chiltons myself, and yes, it can be lacking. There is a link in a post around here for an on line PDF manual, so try searching for that. Just to be an ass, did you actually crawl under and physically look at things ? B
-
Absolutely !! And thanks !! I'll install them as soon as I receive the check from you for the parts/labor cost !! Damn Bud, I owe you one !! B
-
A crappy stethiscope is 10x better than none ! Hmm, I think you are past the point of web diagnosis. Try the thick oil bit, and keep informing us of any observations, someone may key in from personal experience... Good Luck Bud ! B
-
So, what did the 'scope tell you ? Personally, I buy VERY little from HF. The vast majority of it is crap. I actually bought a hand sledge there, and when I went to use it, I learned that it wasn't even case hardened !! Just a lump of iron on a stick, lol. Keep us updated please... B
-
LOL, so then it is hindsight ?? Up to you Bud, you know I'm receptive... Be cool. B
-
Trying with out BANG to be sure !! Trying with plan B and/or back up is cool. Alone, I'd rather be safe and get home... Ok, so I'm a boring wimp... B
