  1. JJ !! And not just about the GF... B
  2. I have never heard of it, but I'll try to look it up... I always wonder about additives like that. If it were a proven, positive long term addition to 'normal' oil, wouldn't companies come out with STP10-40+ (Militec additive added) "for the life of your car", $3/qt... Not crapping on it as I don't know, but I have to be speculative... B LOL Thats out of one quote... Who 'doped' (does that sound like official jargon ?) what, the Bush devision has already been afflicted !! Ok, enough of that. Go here and read... http://www.militec-1.com/ What I get out of this is wild and insane claims, like the racer who is going for his third season on the same motor without a rebuild. WTF ?? Doesn't state that he ever wins either. If this is so great and revolutionary, why have I not seen it in any science publications ? This would be ground breaking and make the news ! Unfortunately, I think it is hype. "God Bless Our Military Forces. Jesus Christ Is King!" in the heading tells me you BETTER have faith using this stuff. I'll wait for the scientific report, thanks...
  3. 2 cars, 2 motorcycles; all running, registered and insured. Didn't count the rolling chassis as per request... 95 Pathy XE 78 VW Bug convertible, custom 87 BMW K75 01 Honda CBR1100XX B
  4. Nice !! I love the D720s, and in my book, they are ultrareliable and darn good wheelers. Won't win any races, but will get you there and back !! my dad gave me a Porsche, but i wrapped than around another;s bumper
  5. Now that is just absurd !!! How in the world do they justify that price ? You could easily buy an entire used Pathy for that price !! Just one more reason to call them Stealerships !! B
  6. Yes, it is a little hard to see... I believe I can make out the marks you mention though. Thanks for the picts ! Glad you caught that and it was just a top end easy fix. I like easy fixes !! B
  7. Ok, well, first I'd call around to see what they would charge to rebuilt it if you brought it to them. Then try to see what you could get the parts you guess you need for. Subtract 2nd from 1st that thats what you would save... I'm not a tranny guy and I don't know how comfortable you are with doing it yourself. I definitely understand about saving the $ though !! B
  8. Whats your time VS money ratio and how long before you need to drive it ? B
  9. Why do you people insist on reposting picts we have just seen 3 posts ago ??? Thats just plain obnoxious. Please stop. B
  10. LOL, thanks for the love Ramithestranger... If I give you the HR manager's address and office #, you want to go put in a good 'word' for me tall, dark and gruesome ?? Trust me, I'd like that job and area !! New Mexico is the better job though, but it would take a year or so for the government union position if it even works out. Patience, Oh Hairy one... Patience... B
  11. Wheelman, The original spare on my pathy is a 215/75/75, so maybe thats what yours came with...? According to this tire size calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html with that kind of difference you would be 8.5% slow on the speedo, or 60mph would actually be 65mph. I'd suspect your speedo is faulty, or that of your friends and their reporting ability. Next time you see a cop doing a radar trap, politely approach him and ask if he could help you, you might be suprised... B
  12. No problem Bud, and thats a much better discription ! Sorry, I know a bit about the WD21's and virtually nothing about the R50's, so I'm not much help. Now that good info is present, I'm sure someone will have input. Hang tight and give them a chance... B
  13. So the GF drives your impulse ? JK !! I forgot about that one; you have more freakin cars than I do ! I'm not sure if thats good or bad... Yes, Slick, I did think of you as a possibility. Just figured I wait to see if they offer and I accept the job first... Thanks for the offer though, I really want to get the hell out of here so I'm looking for jobs in other states. Just applied at a company in the Portland Or area so maybe Aaron and I get to hang out, break and fix our trucks together... I'm really hoping for the Oregon or New Mexico jobs... we'll see I'm good for another $10k unemployment so I can wait a bit. B
  14. Ok, guessing here, but could the bearings be bad allowing runout that is distending and prematurely wearing the seals ? Could the axle shaft be bent doing the same thing ? Is the axle scored ? Does it leak from the center or the edge of the seal ? When did this start ? How long do the seals last ? Do you wheel it hard, or beat on the truck ? There are several possibilities, and you have given little information, such as what year/model the truck is... Someone may chime in having dealt with exactly that problem, but you have to help also... Just a hunch, but it doesn't sound like the mechanics are that good. If they failed a second (much less third) time quick, it's time to trouble shoot, not keep replacing them. B

    ROAR!

Exactly what MZ says. (sorry about not answering the question the first time). If you know a good tranny place, then have them rebuild it (with some kind of warranty), if not, I'd say the gamble is about the same, buying a low mile used one as a crap job by Joe mechanic. B
  16. LMAO mws, narrow means find a tall or lipped bank to launch off of and CHARGE !! Broad and ripply is for fording slow and steady... I would have loved to have seen that, but he coulda drowned before I stopped laughing... B
  17. LOL, I knew that was comming !! Do you know how to drive a stick ?? Your toys are all auto's aren't they ?? Not too comfortable with your manhood and choice of drive train, are you ?? The other thought I had was just to hire a friend to drive out with me and fly them back.... Still, one interview is tomorrow, so it's not like anything is nailed down... B
  18. Precise1

    Oops!

Yeah, but I'm confused. Isn't the stud threaded into a tapped hole ? I'd try drilling out the broken stud and replacing it. Here is a discription if you need it... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5361 B
  19. Well, she goes to school so she would finish the semester, that would give me time to find a decent place and all that. Besides, she cant drive a stick !! I don't own no wimpy freakin autos !! B
  20. Ouch !! I'd better call around, this may be a big deal. I'd almost consider towing the Bug out on a trailer, flying back and driving the Pathy. It all still speculation at this point though... B
  21. That seems a bit odd... How does the cam look ? What do you mean by abnormal wear ? Can you take a picture ?? B
  22. Hmm, didn't think of that, and with your locker it would be good ! I THINK your rear would be the same; it removes easy by unbolting a universal joint and sliding out/off of the seal/spline shaft. I don't remember seeing any bracketry other than the 2 bolt tranny mount in the center of the cross member. I don't see why it would be any different, but thats not gospel. I know I took some picts when I replaced my clutch. If I cant find them tomorrow, I'll take some more if you need it. The front is offset to the drivers side and totally seperate. B

    ROAR!

5.1 quarts of GL-4 (NOT GL-5) to be.... specific. Personally, I don't care for auto trannys (unless it is a stop and go commuter, which I avoid like the plague) and the only one I had was my first car. It failed on me, but thats probably because I was a dumb punk. To each their own, but if I have a choice, its a manual. B
