To follow up on FLAp'ers comments. Circa ww2, the Willy's jeep was the hummer of today; sadly, no longer. Things that have to be considered... 1) Marketing: a HUGE segment of the population buys what they are told to buy without doing any real research or comparison shopping. They are too stupid. 2) Made in Ammurika: A lot of people are so nationalistic that they'd rather buy local crap than imported goodness. Maybe thats good thing, but I cant afford to. I had someone yell "Buy American' when I was on my Honda motorcycle. I told him as soon as Americans built something as good I would. 3) Ego & Attitude: While the newer Harleys are actually marginally competent, for decades they were complete crap, yet people would still buy them. Transfer that over to Jeeps. 4) Short term ownership: I'd actually argue that american vehicles are worth buying, if you buy them new and upgrade every 2-4 years. Thats before the major problems start and then it's someone elses problem. Of course, then you always have payments... I have seen some NICE jeeps, and I'm not afraid to say it. Last week when I left a scrap yard, there was 00ish Wrangler with 37" tires parked next to me. It make my Pathy look like a stationwagon. I looked all over it and it seemed to be set up very well, and could no doubt go where I couldn't even conceive of. Having never owned a Jeep, I have no idea how relaible it would be, and to me thats a big factor. I also couldn't imagine using it as a daily driver. Still it was impressive. To each their own, I say. Personally, I like what I have, especially for the reliability and the price I paid. B

My 95 only has 1. I have never heard of 2 cats, but then maybe I'm just lame. I'm thinking 1 is a resonator (had a car like that) or the shop is full of isht or trying to rip him off. Not like thats the first time it has happened. B

Hey trailchaser, I completely agree with you. Everyone has an opinion, and when it comes to that, no one is right, just agrees or disagrees. It's all good in the hood in my book. As long as there are no truely personal or nasty attacks, let it flow ! Sure, I humorously chastised V6, but thats all. He's tough with a thick skin and a decent brain, so he takes it all for what it is. His 'sorry, didn't mean to offend' is appreciated as much as the initial post... Besides, I kinda like the guy for some reason. Killvox's turd comment was just basically a quote from a previous crap stiring post from the infamous V6... Its easy to misunderstand in threads like this. B

Hey V6, that link didn't show any picts of you... Or atleast they didn't load. Someone posted a while back about having a bad back and changing out the seats with ones out of a maxima I believe. They said it far better. Maybe you should look into it. I'll try to find the thread or you can just start a new one about that... Thats the thing about having a bad back, everything else is attached to it ! Of course I haven't forgotten about the turd, it's still in my tread... B

Yep, basically FLAp... I'm going to give derogate enough credit to differentiate between a tranny cooler and an AC condensor. I have a manual, so I don't know the size and configuration of the stock tranny cooler. B

Well, yes, it could be that the PO already put in an aftermarket tranny cooler. My best suggection is to post a pict, then people can answer you quickly and correctly... B

I run 31x10.5" BFG AT on my WD21 and they they are quite smooth and quiet. Most consider them jack of all trades, master of none, but I do know they are rated quite well for wet pavement and people say they tend to pack up in gooey mud. Yes to the wet weather handling, but I cant say first hand for gooey mud or snow. If you are a light duty off roader, I'd say they would do you just fine. I know Pezzy has Revo's and likes them a lot ! I believe DJ Dank or Vengeful has the same, and one of them will chime in soon. I don't know what the price difference is so look into it if it matters to you, but I think the BFG AT's are perfectly acceptable for the non-mudbogger... B

Hmm, every auction is 7 days so they always run to the limit. Most of them don't sell for much, and the amount drops quite a bit towards the end; seems like people may be catching on. Well, most of what he is selling is crap anyway. Definitely a scammer. It'd be fun to compile all the info with 'resales' and 'no neg feedback' and present it to ebay... Then bid and sue... B

1" does look a little different, but not THAT much... What probably makes more of a difference is if they are AT or MT tires VS all season radials. ASRs may look wimpy. I say get the lift regardless, everyone likes it. If you dont like the looks, you can always sell the current tires (or close your eyes when you walk up to the truck... ). It wouldn't cost too much to swap them. B

Well, the miles are a little high for my taste, but for a grand, I'm not knocking it !! One guy has cracked 500,000 miles with no repairs (just maintenence) I believe. As long as it hasn't been abused, it can still run quite a while longer ! A compression check may be a good idea. How old is the timing belt, try to find out or change it, this is an interference motor... MaritimeMan just rebuilt his stick, he would know, but he is out to sea right now. lgranch is a tranny wiz, he may know as well as several others. Hang tight, I'm sure the'll post soon. Congrats on the purchase. One you get it rolling, I'm sure you'll like it ! B

Good call about the fan clutch andreus, I had forgotten about that. Yes, in my old 720 the fan clutch was going out. What tipped me off is that the temp would be fine if I was moving 20-25+ mph, but at idle it started to rise... Changed it out and problem solved. I've considered going with the electric fan set up, but mine still works fine and I generally follow the 'If it ain't broke, dont fix it" motto. B

Hey Bud, put out a firm cry of help for anyone going to a junkyard in this thread. State your year, color preference, max expenditure and zip code for shipping costs. Lotta good guys in this forum that may help you out if they can. Also post the same in the in the parts wanted forum. I've seen a lot of stuff shipped around and have shipped/received some myself. Sometimes for free just in the spirit of things, but don't count on it, LOL. Some people have a lot of junk yards nearby that have some Pathys, but out here in Cali it's hell to find one !! B

Yeah FLAp (Justin isn't it ? I'm crappy with names; besides FLAp makes me laugh) I can make them for people. Thats not why I tried it, but was definitely considered... Problem is that my Pathy is too bent right now for proper fitment so I can't provide a truely finished product. This prototype is for a forum friend who was good to me. He'll still have to drill some holes and maybe do some minor bend adjustments, but it'll be darn close. I'm looking forward to him abusing it and getting feed back, not to mention the more I mess with the material, the better I get. If I were to sell them, they would be available in white, black and blue. $40, $50 and $60 respectively for skid material alone; I don't work for free so consider +$100 labor estimate. Then there's hardware... Still if I can get this right, there may be some demand for them; it's just the front skid replacement right now, but I could line the whole underbody if I tried... We'll see, be patient... I'll sell no skid plate before it's time... B

Hopefully you wrote something like 'truck repair' on the comment line, but thats not truely necessary... As for the auto in the driveway, a good floor jack or two, and off she goes... I know a guy who jacked up each wheel, wrapped sheet metal around them, wired it on, and dragged it 3 blocks !! If you know anyone with a big truck, just drag it off without doing anything else... If it gets damaged, Gomer can fix it in a year or two... There are many ways, and the wierder the better; your friends would be more likely to help just for the comic value and bragging rights... B

Geez, what a mess Bud !! Glad to hear Pops is not about to put up with that crap. So Gomer (Dave, but Gomer here !) says to pick it up, but has it blocked in and wont move the vehicle ? What a prick ! Tips for you... 1) Push the car in your driveway into the street, and leave it parked all screwy and blocking traffic. The matter will resolve its self quickly, trust me. OK, I bought some .025" stainless sheet and formed it to the edge of the deck after hosing everything down really well, clamped everything down and started torching. Worked just fine with no sign of charing. Thanks for the input; maybe I was being overly cautious but I prefer to be that way with flame, things that can go boom, or caustic chemicals... Maybe I've just read too many Darwin awards, but then I still have all my skin, fingers, toes and orbs... B

Yes, I totally agree, but since you said I figured why deal with the cost of replacement. If you like the idea of a compressor, then be patient until you can find a deal on one and the other stuff you need. My belief for the time being is the less pullys the better...
