  1. Glad you got a replacement and sorry it's not a Nissan. Of course you are welcome here, don't be foolish ! Besides, you bought a Ford after a head injury, you'll come to your senses eventually... LMAO !! 6 years old and it has had the tranny replaced... I hope you have better luck with it lovebunny. I totally understand switching to a truck, I drove one for 10 years, but didn't use the bed much for the last 5 other than for other peoples crap... One of the reasons I went for the SUV body... Best of luck with it, hope you are better soon and don't be a stranger !! B
  2. That is the issue I think... It may not leak unless it is running, but it would probably leave a few drips in the driveway. Me thinks the oil filter is not on right/sealed properly or they cross threaded the drain plug or some such nonsense. Double check their work. You can't be burning that much and not know it ! B
  3. There was a 2.7L TD for sale in New York a little while ago. I think it was something like $3000... Yes, many of us are disapointed that the motor is not imported to the US ! As V6 pointed out, it wouldn't be very cost effective... B
  4. Your best bet would be going to/calling junkyards, mainly because they are large and heavy to ship. Where are you located ? Here in Cali it's hard to find Pathys to strip but other states there are plenty. Every once in a while someone sells one here, but I don't think there are any open offers. I'll wait a few days for responses then move this to the Parts Wanted forum. Ebay maybe ? B
  5. 2 qts a week is an insane amount of oil to be losing ! It would leave a smoke screen behind it if it was burning it !! You must have a leak. Maybe down low ? Oil pan ? Oil filter ? Drain plug ? Rear main seal ? Does it run any different ? How long has it been doing this ? What year and how many miles on it ? B
  6. *yawn* "Did you feel that ? What ? Oh, nothing..." Come on, the suspense is 1/2 the fun !! LOL Paul, at least I plainly admit I know nothing about welding rather than faking it. Yeah, I have seen some work that is so bad it may as well not have been done in the first place. Good luck with fixing the rust and the rabbit turds !! If you can take some pictures before, during and after it would be appreciated and may help some people out... B
  7. Hmm, the vibration could be a bad or unballanced tire (check for dirt or missing weights), alignment or just tired front end components. How old is the truck and what shape is it in mechanically ? The lean is probably fro the torsion bars sagging. As for fixing it up, indexing/cranking the T-bars and JGC springs are a cheap and easy way to go. Upper control arms are recommended but not required. Here is some reading. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18 http://www.jimbennett.net/torsionadjustment.htm Shocks and bushings are generally helpful also. Remember that if you have a very worn front end (ball joints, center link, tie rod ends, etc) that needs to be addressed also. If you can't tell, go to a decent front end shop and just have them inspect it so you know where you stand. Then you will be able to make good decisions and address issues in the most effective order. B
  8. Possibly to the head gasket, probably to the cam seals, maybe to rings and/or valves. It puffs every time ? I'd start by pulling and examining the plugs and doing a compression test. 3/4 of a quart in 500 miles is definitely bad but you may be leaking far more then you are burning. How many miles on the motor ? B
  9. Glad it was a simple fix for you and that you like the shocks, but then mosp people seem to. I'm going to put this in the R50 forum... B
  10. Hmm, there didn't seem to be one there, it looked like a solid piece of plastic to me... I could be wrong as I was busy being paranoid about those tiny elements (unnecessarily so)... I'll take your word for it, I'm not pulling it apart again just to look !! B
  11. Thanks for that, I feel the same way. Seriously though, what you are calling easy makes me wonder. Of course it is possible, but to say it will take a day or two makes me scratch my head. Either you are master mechanics/fabricators with a full garage to work in or something doesn't ring true. Just to pull the tranny and put the other one in will take 1/2 day. I'm not trying to be disparaging, just not sure where you get your time estimate from... Clue me in, eh ? B
  12. I voted for XE, but here's why... I wanted the fewest power gismos as I could find, but still wound up with power locks, windows, mirrors. Tilt wheel, cruise control and AC that it has are important in my book... Ok, so be it, it WAS in good shape with low miles and has the rear tire carrier, window defroster and LSD that I wanted. Complaints are no roof rack (about to install a factory unit), no oil pressure gauge or volt meter (will install aftermarket) and no grill guard but that would just be smashed now anyway. Other than running boards (useless and I have Smittybilt nerf bars waiting installation) it may as well be an SE... The lines between are very blurred and I have managed to purchase/obtain the 'upgrade' parts for about $300. So whats the difference, really ? Other than lower purchase price ? Not much. That said, if it was an SE for the same price/condition with LSD, I would have bought it. B
  13. $729 for a motor with 12 month warranty is not bad at all. First thing I would do is compression check it as soon as it is installed, and if anything is weak, blow it up... B
  14. Here's some reading and something to consider while you are healing... http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=bizarre&id=3651046 B
  15. I skipped on both of my knees on asphalt at about 30mph once... Not only were they hamburger, they were horribly bruised ! I hobbled for weeks after I could move them so I know what you are looking forward to... Soak in a warm tub for a while to loosen things and have a small sharp pair of scissors so you can trim rather than tear the scabs. Also, they make something called 'second skin' or something that. It is a thin film cover for road rash and burns. Look it up and ask your doctor, I highly recommend it; it's worth every penny !! If you can't find it, let me know, I will. Main thing is easy with your head, you just sloshed your brain pretty good and it needs some R&R... You'll be fine, just acknowledge your injurys and respect them. B
  16. Well, sounds like it needs work for sure although a rebuild doesn't adress the water jacket issue. Is that something that can be welded ? Would you do the rebuild yourself ? B
  17. And just for good luck, the housing.... This is an easy job with no issues other than not stripping the screws on removal, and being gentle with the MAF wires. Try my trick, and you'll have no problems ! Hope this helps. B
  18. The MAF it's self. There seem to be tiny ceramic elements (guessing) on the wires. B
  19. Ok, no problem and thanks for clearing that up Simon, I thought there my have been different types... Good that there is not ! The location and the tools I used. I couldn't find my right angle screwdriver so I just used a hex bit and a wrench. It worked perfectly and they were tight ! A 1/4" drive ratchet would work fine also... B
  20. Well, I just cleaned my MAF on a 95XE so I took some pictures to add here. Unfortunately, I can't get 88's pictures to show so I can't compare them. What seems odd to me is that Simon cleaned his 95 and said it was exactly the same as 88's (other than location), yet 88 mentions 3 screws and an O-ring. Mine has 2 screws and no hint of an O-ring, not even a mark or groove that I could see. Definitely feel free to chime in !! Anyway it wasn't really dirty but I think maybe it runs just a hair smoother ? No real difference for me. Here is the little clip that needs removing... B
  21. Here's a good example of the rust that can develope and how it was dealt with. I think he did a pretty good job, or at least it hasn't broken yet as far as I know... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5467&hl=rust B

    Timing Set

Yep, sure is... I've been 'organizing' things for a while now, which means I have NO idea were anything is anymore. I know it's around somewhere, probably in the huge box of mixed CD's I started... No worries, I'll find it ! B
  23. I take it thats before the wreck ? Damn Bud, I'm glad you are ok... Just take it nice and easy for a bit and listen to the Doc. I've been banged up bad several times and have an idea of how you feel. It ain't funny... Rest up and you'll be back in action soon enough. Be well ! B
