  1. In the attached picture, which is the lock timer? You have to remove the whole panel and not just the access panel?
  2. Thanks Pathie4me. I'll try and look into it. Do you have any websites or phone numbers?
  3. To add more info: I have had the rig for about a year. I don't know if it has a new clutch since there is no records from previous owner. I took it in to the shop today and they only heard the noise once on the test drive and are not pushing tearing it apart. They quoted me $990 for parts and labor. I guess I'll drive for a bit and see if it gets worse and make sure I have my AAA card handy for a tow. Just to clarify: a throwout bearing is $20 to 30 but labor is pretty extensive right?
  4. I have a 92 Pathfinder V6SE with a manual tranny. I hear a whirring noise when I push in the clutch pedal and I put the gear shift in reverse or 1st gear. It sounds like a belt is rubbing and it only makes the noise occasionally. The noise also doesn't change when I rev the engine. When I let out the clutch pedal, it goes away. Any ideas what the problem might be?
  5. Turns out it was the rear differential fluid. I replaced it and it runs perfectly.
  6. Has anybody done an engine swap to go from gas to diesel in the US? I have a 92 Pathfinder SE with a manual tranny and was starting to look for a vehicle so that I can run biodiesel. I know that there are diesel Pathfinders outside of the US but I'm not sure how easy it would be to get an engine, get it installed and what kind of emissions testing /laws I need to worry about here in Seattle, WA.
  7. Lock right installed by a previous owner would be nice. Pretty unlikely though considering the lack of any other upgrades or any signs of off road use. I'll change the fluid. Sounds like the most likely cause. Thanks.
  8. I'm pretty sure ... unless the 4wd isn't disengaging. The lever is all the way in the forward position, the 4x4 indicator light is off and I am sure I have driven far enough in reverse to disengage the 4x4 since I last had it in 4WD. It seems like I would experience the problem all the time if it was stuck in 4wd though .... wouldn't it?
  9. I just bought a 92 Pathfinder SE. After I drive for a while on the freeway, it feels like the rear differential is locked when I get off the freeway and try to turn. It only happens after I have been on the freeway and doesn't do it when it has been sitting for a while. Any idea what's wrong?
