Better than I could have done. I've never welded in my life... I'd guess that'll do just fine for a long time. It's a lot better than the damage/hole in my truck (maybe 1/10 as bad as what you fixed). I just hope your heel doesn't rest on a seam, that might be uncomfortable. Doesn't look like it though... Agreed... When I press the pistons back, I crack open the bleeder valve so any excess fluid escapes there; I pretty much always bleed the brakes after working on them. B

When you re-adjusted the shoes, did you eyeball it or use the star adjuster from the back side ? Did you bleed the brakes, drive for a little bit and then re-adjust them again ? The shoes can and will seat and settle into their operating position after installing. If all that is fine, re-adjust the cable tension underneath the truck but make sure to check the cable. It could be fraying. Also check for free movement of the cable through its guide. Sometimes they bind and that would make any adjustments wrong. The cable should not be very tight if the lever is not engaged. Shouldn't take very long at all... B

50:1 eh ? Put $20 on yourself for me please... Well, the two issues are not stripping the screws and not damaging the wires. A good screwdriver with the right sized blade should avoid and problems. It may worth giving them a little love tap with an impact driver (the manual kind). As for the wires, just use caution and save the beer for after the job. I'm due to do mine and the weather looks good for the next few days so maybe I'll have some first hand info for you, but it really should be simple. Can't hurt to borrow those moose antlers again though... That would be $5000, wouldn't it ? B

Yeah, about 120km... Still, very nice to have ! I've watched the gas gauge sag on trips and wished for more than 20 gallons... But then I think the GF would rather it be a 5 gallon tank. Nothing like "I gotta go pee" 5 minutes after a stop !! B

Not having seen it, the Coleman roof rack for $58 sounds pretty good !! SC88 makes some good points about replacing the carrier and value of a full sized spare also. I'd put some effort and $ into getting it out of the back of the truck regardless of what direction you take. B

Pretty much ditto to Wheelman. If the truck didn't come with a factory spare carrier, it wont have the reinforcement plates where the hinges would bolt and they are a PITA to install, factory or aftermarket... I believe you can get a tire carrier that mounts into a towing receiver. That or a roof rack are the two simpler options you have not to carry the spare inside. I agree with MZ about the drag and reduced MPG with the roof rack. Thats a bummer, as I wouldn't want my 10.5x31" inside, nor be lifting it up on the roof... B

No worries Bud, thats my standard answer in replace of "more info than I can type" or "I have no clue and would have to search for it"... The fact that you feel a wobble in 4th gear only seems to point at the tranny, but you have a much better experience than I do, I've never torn mine apart. With a little lick, #2 may fix #3... As for speakers, I don't even know if mine are stock. The PO put in a basic stereo after the first nice one was stolen. Works good enough for me so I never messed with it. (read LAZY) B

Could be... Those orange stickers seem to be able to withstand anything short of a RPG though. (I wish I had some of that glue !) If it's not there odds are you don't have the LSD. To check, grab a floor jack and lift the rear. Spin 1 tire. If the opposite wheel spins the opposite way, you have LSD... B

Well, it may do something since you have headers, etc, but how much gain I have NO idea... I'd guess that it would be basically useless with the restrictive stock exhaust manifolds... It would be interesting to find out but I couldn't promise you'd get $300 of results... B

Same with mine... It has the LSD, power mirrors and fog lights in the bumper (well, used to...) also. Fog lights are east to install and aftermarket are better anyhow, roof racks are junkyard recoverable and fairly easy to install and you don't want the rear deflector thingie as it mounts off of 'special' hinges for the rear glass and people are often looking for replacements when they break/crack... B

Perhaps it is running rough when cold and thats where you feel it ? I'd say check the mounts and ask when the last tune up was... B

Ok, I believe, but that was a fair question.... So it seems there is a fair mix and match between motors, trannys and rear end ratios... I don't have any answers but maybe if people chime in with the their particulars we can find a rhyme and reason... B

Well, it's certainly an electrical issue... I don't think the ECU controls the voltage to the fuel pump, etc so thats prob not the issue. What exactly was this wire, and where does it go ? You said you think the fuse box ? Time to isolate and trace. Sounds like fuggered wiring to me, but I have no idea where... Agreed "Nothing makes sense?"... B

Well said Mr I hope he comes through 4wheeler !! Even if it takes a while... Lets give the guy a little credit V6... He obviously knows beaches, basic recovery and has some tools. The truck that needed help was getting hit by waves... That means he was on hard packed sand, and probably angled somewhat to make use of good traction. I doubt he'd dig himself in so bad as not to get out (any 4x4 pathy with good tires could escape). I agree that it is generally easier if the stuck truck is trying to get out also as long as the asshat doesn't try to ram you, but we are past that... Generally there is not enough traction in that situation to break 4x4 components. He gave it a try and succeeded. Worst he could have dealt with is to say 'unhook the tow strap on the other truck please' and driven off. Well, thats just how I see it... B

Hmm, Bob has it right as far as I know, but the lines blur a bit... You will find a lot of mix and match, especially between the XE and SE. I have an XE (bought the lowest trim, lowest mile one I could find) so I'm pond scum... Never seen a 'Chilkoot'... B
