cheap is not cheap anymore. will be having to bore out the block and getting new pistons and rings.
-
I just dropped off the crank to get cleaned up. Will get it back monday and drop off my heads then. I'll inspect the bottom end of the engine Monday and update.

I bought another Xterra motor from a fellow wheeler. He had pulled the heads and motor out a while back after he saw it spewing oil from somewhere after coming out of the mud hole. I'm new to building motors and I'm trying to make this as cheap as possible. There is some rusting on the cylinder walls so I'm going to leave it be. I plan on taking out the crank and install my '93 crank into it and bolt everything back up. hopefully it'll be that easy. My crank though has some rust so maybe I can get it cleaned up at a machine shop. I have some play and some knocking as it sounds like so maybe those trained can tell me if it's normal and what are the problems. Here are some photos and a few clips of what I am describing.

^^^ as said. regular shocks do fine for stock to modded. unless you're seeing high speed desert racing, I can see some use for them or just want the adjustability factor to tune your suspension for the added cash.
-
I did it too. Steevo finished his a whole lot faster than I did.

Faulty connection at MAF plug? I deal with the same problems from time to time every time. Never got around to fixing it.
-
I went locker first. Best choice I ever made. I got places where I never thought I could with 2WD.
-
That goes to the ignition switch.

Oh, if you need any VG33 engine parts, I have it all mostly. I also have a brand new 93 pathfinder crankshaft too so you can keep all your accessories..

I've never had to replace a caliper on my truck.... but anyhow, sounds like your brake master cylinder is going out but don't go buy one until you're for sure. Make you're not losing any brake fluid. If you are, you have a leak somewhere and you need to trace it down and fix the problem. Bleeding steps: ABS sensor (mid center on passenger inner frame rail) Rear right Rear left Front right front left. You're bleeding from farthest to closest to the MC.

Bryan (grassroots4x4) is still out of the country I think. You can hit up richard (frontier2k1) over on NOAS or Nissan4wheelers for a modded centerlink if you're needing one soon.

your turn signal is not plugged in.... Looks good. I wish I never had my accident.

Well, I had bought a center/armrest console for one of our members here out of his 4x4 pathfinder. I had converted my 2wd pathfinder into 4wd and needed the console to complete the swap. Also I kept the automatic transmission. auto 2wd and auto 4wd armrest/storage box console: You can notice the differences right away. the auto 4wd center console is a long piece as you can see. auto 2wd From what folks have said. you can use the 2wd auto console in a manual equipped pathfinder. You can use the armrest/storage box from a 2wd or manual in a 4x4 center console assembly but you will have to make modifications to make it fit. Here's the unmodified fitment of the auto/2wd armrest on a 4x4 console.

I have an XE two wheel drive. no sunroof, no adjustable shocks, no leather interior, no courtesy glove light, um. seats recline and slide front and back no sure about lumbar adjust. -
It caaaaaaaaaaaaaaan but its hard to say depending on the severity. it could through a faulty reading for the o2 sensor. worst case scenario but it's neglible i think. Maybe switching to manual hubs if you haven't replaced your auto locking hubs if your 4x4.

Just Talked My Buddy Into Buying A 1995 Pathfinder!

sure it wasn't 94+ when nissan switched to the rounded tooth cam gears? -
There are 31 spline frontiers out there. Rare but they're out there. I know of a guy who's swapped to 31 spline on his frontier to run a detroit. it's plug and play. Only thing is the ABS. You'll just have to swap out the tone rings from your old 3rd onto your new one if you want to keep abs. Otherwise just leave it disconnected.

yeah, I went to a hardware store and (like harbor freight)and their tap said to use a 11/32 drill bit. Hm.
-
when was the last time you flushed the transmission? have you checked the condition of your transmission fluid lately? is it dark brown and no longer cherry red? does it smell burned? did you bypass your stock transmission cooler to an external unit?

Shows how much I frequent the site.... haha. I agree with you on the muffler shop snorkel though. Better off fabricating one yourself.

I was searching around ebay for some Terrano parts and came up with another company that makes snorkels.... Expensive I might add... http://www.snorkels.com.au/p/530499/snorkel-kit-nissan-navara-d21-terrano-1-pathfinder-pre-1997.html

Sounds reasonably priced I guess.

I used a strap to hold the pulley in place and a couple of zips from the impact will loosen the cam bolts. You might be able to getaway with using an old belt or sticking a screwdriver into one of holes to have it secured somewhere.... The cams are under pressure/tension and if it moves it's not going to do anything really bad like as if when your motor was running and then the timing belt breaks. You can always move it back to TDC. no biggy. I've used aftermarket parts on all of my timing belt changes with no ill effects so far.
