I would need to look and see how these are arranged, but on most Auto transmissions there are shift solenoids. One solenoid will work two gears. 1st and od might be the two that are paired on a solenoid. You may have a failed solenoid. There should be ports to hook up pressure gauges, then you can see if the solenoid is shifting back and forth.

So it is no longer a clicking like in the beginning of the thread, now you are chasing a vibration? Have you tried rotating the tires and see if the vibration changes? If you threw a wheel weight, or hit a bad pot hole at speed and warped a rim both would cause vibration. As tires wear, they may need to be rebalanced. Also, mud and debris can build up inside the wheel, causing an out of balance. I have had that happen with snow.

If it's a flat woven wire, it connects the the exhaust manifold shield.

Take this with a grain of salt, but l believe that the 30i and 30e were the same short block up until 96, which is when they switched to a different balancer on the 30e.

I built a custom bumper.

Noticed that both the Titan and wd21 are leaking gear oil from the front diff. The pathy looks like it is coming from the drain plug, but it is as tight as possible, so I am going to spray it off with brake kleen and see if the drip comes back. Ordered a pinion seal for the Titan.

If you are changing the timing belt, it is best to change the tensioner too. It would be lame if the tensioner failed a few thousand miles later. I remember it being a bit of a trick keeping the spring on the bolt, but I can't remember any details.

Why monthly? My manual says nothing about that.

Wound the winch today. That's the most frustrating thing I have done in a while. I hooked the winch to the tow hook on the Titan and pulled the pathfinder. After doing it 3 or 4 times, I had to get my wife to steer the pathy and modulate the brakes to keep tension on the cable. Didn't help that it was nearly 100°F today.

Nearly finished the winch install yesterday. Remote mounted the selenoid and got everything ready to mount the plug, just don't have course thread pan head screws to anchor it. It's not the cleanest wiring job I have ever done. Forgot wire loom and a few more lug covers, but I didn't want to do another 80 mile round trip for that stuff. I will take care of it later.

Could you put match marks on the screw and body. Then count turns so you know how to get back. Then start tweaking the butterfly and see if it helps.

Because your talking about a switch and you say it sounds switched. Not only was it a good idea of the possible problem, but a good joke too.

I have been searching for a winch and after reading user reviews and looking at spec sheets, I decided to go with an Engo sr9. While shopping around for the best price, I found a company called Allen's off road in Cali on Pirate and a few jeep forums that advertised the winch for a good price. On Monday, I called to make sure the company was legit, and Allen answered. Seemed like a nice guy, I told him about NPORA and he looked it up while on the phone and said he would look into being a vendor here. I ordered the winch today at lunch. Allen said it would be drop shipped from Engo in Vancouver WA. Scheduled delivery tomorrow. Pretty good for free shipping. Hopefully I can get it installed before the weekend.

Ironic that the bad parker has California plates. Looks like your in Bozeman. I lived in Great Falls for awhile so everything I know in Montana is in that area, so would be quite a drive. That being said, the Big Snowy Mountains are neat. Crystal Lake there is snow runoff only and it is a small lush island in the plains. Probably the only place in the northern plains where ferns grow. Good hiking. The big and little belt mountains around Helena have some nice Backcountry. Great hiking, camping, and snowmobiling. Nice natural ski hill too at showdown, no artificial snow. Helena also has some mines and hot springs around to explore. Also a float down the Missouri through the gates of the Rockies is awesome. Get a permit to float the Smith river, that is cool as well and takes multiple days. Lincoln is a neat little town, home of the Unabomber. Madison river is nice, has great fishing. It is where the movie A river runs through it was filmed. If I think of more I will let you know.

Use Hamtestonline. It is easy to pass the test that way. You don't learn very much, but you will pass. I still need to go back and learn how to actually use it.

If you looked on the parts diagram on any of the dealerships parts stores, like courtesy Nissan, it should show where the peice belongs.

There are other reasons it may be misfiring besides a coil. You could ohm the coil and see if it is in specs. Another option would be to switch the coils between cylinder three and five and see if five starts missing and three runs good. That would verify that the coil is the issue. If the coil is the problem, then yes it is fine to replace only one coil pack. Edit: wait a sec. An 01 still uses a single coil and a distributor right? Or does it have coil on plug?

Yes, a bad misfire can cause the whole vehicle to shudder. A misfire is mechanical in many respects. You have one cylinder that is not having a power stroke so it creates an imbalance in the engine. You have three power stroke on one side and two on the other. That is why the engine shakes so badly when you have a total misfire.

Dropped it off to get tires mounted and an alignment. Also looked into why my reverse lights aren't working. The reverse switch is not closing. Going to look around for a new one.
