I think he was thinking that the 4wheel drive shifter was a separate system. and neutral meant that just the 4 wheel drive was in neutral. I can see how someone not familiar with automobile mechanicals would think that. What comes natural for all of us can be daunting for others. Especially if they have never worked on a car before. I do believe there are 3 different cv halfshafts for pathys. They are broken down by the following years. 87-89 90-95 96-05 Go to rockauto.com they have Brand new ones for $69-$79 each depending on the year. They also know which one it right for your year. Mark

It kills me when 99% of all trucks and suvs on the road have the leaking pumpkin syndrome. It is probably caused by monkey lubes checking the levels and either not resealing the Fill/inspection port, or when they check it the fluid dribbles out all over the back of the pumpkin and they don't bother to clean it properly. You guys have seen them the dirty oil spots running down the pumpkin. EVERYONE WASH your Pumpkins!! Mark

I got really lucky when mine went out. I found a brand spanking new transmission (still had the nissan tags on it) and transfer case for $700. Then tac on 500.00 for shipping. total $1300. I bought a factory clutch kit off ebay for $120 bucks. I hear you on the transmission jack. so much easier. Mark

Most probably a bad or leaking fuel injector, I have the same problem. I ordered some rebuilt injectors for $130. Once I get them and install them I will let you know if it was my problem. I, Like you replaced everything and it still was missing. Mark

Keep in mind guys, most new 4x4 (the yuppie ones) have push button 4wheel drive. It can be quite intimidating for someone to try and drive our dinosour 4X4's. Sometimes the easiest things can dumbfound the smartest people. I think we should keep our judgments off the forums. Mark

For wrenches and sockets I would go craftsman, especially if you have a Kmart, Sears Or osh near. It is way convenient when a tool breaks to just take it back and swap it with a new one no questions asked. with other hand tools I generally will give a cheap tool a try, especially if it is under 1/3rd the price of the craftsman. Reason, If it breaks I am not out that much I learn my lesson about that tool then buy a craftsman. I did this with my snap ring pliers. bought a cheap harbor freight for 4 bucks, they broke. I then bought the craftsman for 29 bucks, still working to this day. I have saved just about as much as I have spent replacing them. I still have quite a few cheap tools still working great. My rule of thumb if you use it frequently or are going to rely on it for emergency do not skimp. BTW new craftsman ratchets are getting cheaper and cheaper in quality, I still have some old craftsman ratchets that are going strong while I have had to swap my new craftsman ratchet 4 times already. Just my 2 cents. The thing I don't like about Husky (home depot) they do not have a lot of stock of individual tools to swap unlike sears that always has individual tools available. I went to swap my ratchet that came in a set, they did not have the exact ratchet, so I swapped it only to find that it was so different in shape that it would not fit in my case. the price for husky generally is about the same as craftsman. I believe so. It would just be easier to check your voltage with the truck running. If you are getting 14 volts then your fusible link would have to be good since the voltage would be getting to the batter from the alternator. If not then your fusible link could be bad. It is a PITA but then you could chack the voltage on the back of the alternator with the engine running and if you have voltage then for sure your link is bad. mark

Check the fusible link from the alternator to the battery or check to see how many volts at the battery when the engine is running. If the fusible like is bad then you will get the same symptom as a bad alternator and until it is fixed all the alternators in the world won't help. mark

I though about welding it, But decided to clamp it since i don't know what future problems with removing the headers could occur. The pipes when inserted on mine did not go in very far. that is why I considered welding it. The clamp has been holding fine There is not really any place for the pipes to go anyways. I would not recommend using these clamps on a muffler. I Tried that I ending up chasing my muffler down a hill when wheeling. Good thing My muffler was made of super strong stainless steel. Mark

I am not sure about Nissan Automatic transmission but too much ATF in some transmissions can cause foaming. This would introduce air in the valve and could cause problems like eratic shifting and oil starvation. too much fluid could also force fluid past seals in some transmissions mark

got my hi/lo bulbs for $120 shipped. I guess I will have to pick of a set of those housings. Only thing I don't like about them is they are plastic. They will eventually delaminate and get cloudy or yellow. You can get just lo beam bulbs for 80 bucks shipped (2 year warranty) Hey GhostPath Let me know when you get those Light housings if they use the bulbs that our stock housings use or if they use a different bulb. That is what i was going to do, However when pricing alternators at the auto parts store I found that the 125 amp out of the 99-02 quest was 40 bucks cheaper. than the 110 amp .. I don't want to pay more for less amps. I went to the auto yard last weekend and there was not a quest to be found from any year. Mark

Just curious, I know plenty of people have retrofitted alternators to fit their pathys. I only saw one 125 amp retrofitted to an r50. Is there that much difference that you could not do it to a wd21 pathy? Mark

On my other newer vehicle that have the deflector. They look great since there is no center defector on the Nissan headlamps it does not spread evenly. Those headlamp housings at the beginning of the thread my be the answer. I think they use different bulbs though. mark
