Rear Drivers Side Window Doesn't Work
msavides replied to fastskier's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Ditto, When I bought my 91 pathfinder the power windows did not work. Guy knocked some money off the truck because of that. While driving it home the windows started working. then they quit. I was getting ready to tear it apart the first thing I did was pull up the drivers side switch assembly, The plug was not snapped all the way in. After re seating the plug all was well and had been well for over a year. So check the plug. Also could be corroded if someone left the windows down and it got wet. Mark -
When I bought my 91 Pathy. The key they guy gave me was a copy and was all worn out. It was so worn out that I knew a reliable copy could not be made. I was lucky that the key code was still stuck on the inside of the glove box door. I took a trip to the dealer and had 2 keys made. (costed me about 20 bucks) The keys worked flawlessly and I no longer had the problem. 20 bucks was cheap compared new door locks or the hassle of tearing open the door panels. Not saying this is your problem but it sounds like the same. Mark

CA and FED emissions equipment differences
msavides replied to SteeevO's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
well Then I am lucky cause my pathy in not test only. Actually I do not own a single car that is test only. we will see if that changes though(in 2 years). Funny thing is I always take my cars to a test only place anyways even though I don't have to. Why Because this guy is the laziest smog guy I have ever seen. I don't think he even does a visual test. I had a major exhaust leak when he did mine (before I did the headers and fixed it) and he did not even care. I don't think this guy would check anything let alone numbers off the engine. Mark -
These are the gaskets I used from summit http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...mp;autoview=sku I used the permatex copper stuff as well on mine. I cleaned my heads using a fine 3m abrasive pad on a die grinder. Got them at harbor freight. take about a min to clean the entire head surface. Mark

I bought a harbor freight air powered bleeder system. It works awesome. It has a bottle with various adapters for the master cylinder that holds a quart of brake fluid. I did my entire brake system in about 2 min and the petal was hard as a rock when i was done. I no longer look at brake bleeding as a hated job. and it comes with a universal adapter that works on the nissan, honda, hyundai, kia. At least that is what i have used it on so far. Mark

Hushpowers are not big at all. They are straight in and straight out. Kinda like a glass pack in looks but nothing like it in the build. I will get a photo of my install to post. Mark

No Resonance problem with mine, then again I only have one. This is not the same as a standard flowmaster Not even close in any way. Total different animal.

I had problems with the collector bolts backing off and ruining the gaskets. I bought some copper ones from summit and all has been perfect. Also you may have to retorque your header bolts they will loosen up after a couple of heat cycles as the gasket material will compress with each heat cycle. I wish they made copper header gaskets but I was unable to locate them. Did you check to headers for leaks before installation. I taped mine up and blew into them to check. I also ordered a clamp for the crossover pipe as I was leaking there. Mark

I have got a hushpower muffler hooked up to my pathfinder. It fell off a couple of weeks ago (stupid clamps) and then since it was hot I strapped it to my roof rack and it flew off the roof rack. After all of that I did a little straightening out of the ends and I just welded it on permanently. It took alot of abuse and they are extremely durable. It still sounds the way it did new so nothing got broken. It has a really deep V8 tone at low rpm however it gets a bit ricey at the upper 3000 rpms. That was with not tail pipe. Once I put the tail pipe back on it still has the tone (just not as deep) and it is not ricey anymore. This is with the stock tail pipe I imagine it would gain some noise with a larger tail pipe. One think I noticed My tail pipe never got hot with the stock exhaust I could grab the tail pipe with my bear hands after 20 min of idling. With the hushpower installed (I also have thorley headers installed) the tail pipe gets hot enough to burn my hand after about 5 min. From what i hear this is a good thing. Mark BTW. the hushpower is nothing like a glass pack.(except for maybe shape) there is not glass in this muffler all solid stainless steel.

I had 3 break on me. 2 of them i got to remove with an extractor and the third one i did not drill straight and took out some of the threads. I drilled it a little larger and installed a helicoil. I have had no problem. If it is not drill way too big you could have a helicoil installed. First take it back to the shop and bitch at them. Mark

There are some differences in the spline counts of the shafts. Not sure what years, But if you do find the splines are different you can just take the whole pumpkin with it. Just remember Slick, The pinion nut is missing off of shadow. Make sure you put one on and torque it to the proper spec before driving it. Mark

I used these in mine. Too bad they are now discontinued. Maybe with a little searching you could find someone who still has some stock. Mark http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.asp?d...mp;pf_id=718176

Replacing Upper Coolant Bypass Hose....driving Me Insane!
msavides replied to crystallinesheen's topic in The Garage
Holy crap, that would be a pain to do it that way. I replaced mine when I did the timing belt, thermostat, waterpump, cam seals and all of the hoses. I think as long as I replace that hose everytime i do the timing belt I should never have to do it that way. That sucks. -
Costco has it for 49 bucks. just bought mine last week to run my lockers and I used my rear bumper as a air tank. Fills my bumper and lines up to 105 psi in 5 min. Mark

I decided to do them both at the same time. I have some photos of the install. I had a little problem with the Rear Pinion. The shims were scored really bad. So I had to wait 9 days for the stealership to get them in. Costed me 109 bucks for a variety of different thickness shims. I replaced all the bearings while I was at it. It was not that hard to do the rear gear setup just a lot of attention to detail. The front on the other had was a PITA we had to make several of the tools that are in the Nissan manual including the spreader. The front required a lot of repetition I replaced the side bearings in the front but left the pinion alone. I also on both differentials took a gear tooth pattern before disassembly so I could put it back where it was from factory since the gears had already started to wear in and I wanted to set it back up to continue to wear in the same place. I will add the photos to this post when I get home tonight. After finally getting it back together we took it for a test ride and everything worked great. There was no gear howl or any other abnormal noise. I did notice a big difference in the turning. It seems to turn much easier, I don't feel the push from the rear that I used to. Mark Here are some pics of my air locker installation. http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/Al...165/t_=88532165

the clutch solenoid is on the front of the compressor. there should be 2 wires coming from the front of the compressor make sure the wires are good and there are no breaks. follow the wires back and it should go to a pressure switch on the ac lines. when you locate the pressure switch just unplug it and use a piece of wire to connect the 2 contacts in the plug. with the ac on and the key on you should hear a click from the solenoid on the front of the ac compressor Mark

I think it was out of a 89 .. there was 2 fans. 1 single speed and one dual speed. I just hooked up the the 2 speed on the high speed wires. There was a resister for something on the 2 speed fan. I just removed it. I will have to take a couple of pis of the fan and post it. When I installed it on my old pathfinder it did not have a body lift. That is awesome that I do not need to alter this on since I have a body lift. Mark
-
The Maxima fans are 2 fans in a metal shroud. It sits close to the radiator. It does not come out toward the engine. I never had any cooling problems for over 100,000 miles before I wreaked it. I have went to the junk yard and picked up another one for my new (to me) pathfinder. I have not yet installed it since I misplaced my temp sensor fan control unit. As soon as I find the control unit the fan will go in.
-
You could be low on freon. There is a pressure sensor that will not allow the a/c compressor to engage if there is not enough freon. Depending on the temp out side sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not. to check to see if the clutch try and jumper the clutch solenoid. Mark

I just know how upset some people get and exaggerate, and no I have not heard the recorded phone conversation. I also read the same stories about Kennesaw mountain accessories (KMA) and I still ordered from them after talking to the guy on the phone. Sometimes people don't understand how important customers are to them and it takes a while for them to realize this and change their attitude. If the attitude has not changed by now then they would surely out of business by now. They must be acting civil to some customers. And remember their are always 2 sides to every story. And I have seen screw-ups from almost every company out there. Calmini took care of their screwup. I must be one of the few that does not let 100% of my decisions be effected by others. Obviously I feel that the parts were worth the chance. I mean what type of person would I be if I had a great experience with a company and heard all the trash talking about them and I did not stick up for them in some way. Besides I pay with credit card and I always have buyers protection with that. Alot of times when a company is being difficult with a return, I will remind them that I have other options for reversing a charge with the bank. Mark

Look guys, There are so few companies making parts for our trucks we cannot afford to boycott any of them. I have bought from all of them at one time or another. I have the Calmini UCAs, calmini panhard drop bracket, and the calmini HD steering. I love them all. They sent me the wrong pitman arm, however they sent me the replacement the very next day and I just put the old one in the prepaid box and sent it back. No problems with any of there stuff. Everything has fit perfectly. It is possible that some frame tweekage has made some parts not fit for some people but that is not their fault. you guys need to chill. If you don't want to buy from them don't. It is not like they are screwing and scamming people. I have talked to them on the phone a few times They have been very helpful and polite. Mark

Closest to a direct bolt on I found was a nissan maxima fan. just had to cut the shroud brace and bend it out of the way of the steering box and reattach it up a little higher. Was easily done. I did it on my old pathfinder. I have the fan and i am ready to do it on my new pathfinder. Plus I found a fan relay/controller that would take the temp input of the stock temp sensor and it is adjustable. Mark

would about using a sprayer to spray rustolium paint in there, (after of course you clean it out) That should work. Mark
-
So has anyone had problems with the longer bolts breaking due to too much leverage put on them from being longer. I have had a few people tell me that you are stressing the bolts and that they could break due to the arm being out further. since so many people have done this there has to be a failure for this to be true. Mark
