  1. I was checking that very thing on mine today. There are plugs (one on each side) for the fog lights. Mine came from the factory without lights installed put the plugs are there. The fuse block over the drives front wheel has a spot for a fuse, but none is installed. Where the knock outs for extra switches (under stereo) are there are two extra plugs that I assume are for 1. heated seat switch and 2. fog light switch. There should also be a relay for the lights under the hood somewhere. If the relay is there it should be just a matter of 1. hook up lights to existing plugs. 2. install fuse 3. install switch to existing plug. And let there be light!
  2. 25 or 30 years ago we had a Renauld "le Car" that we called the "toaster". I would take it over a Cube. That Cube thing makes me embarassed to own a Nissan.
  3. Have you looked into prices on a replacement? I just replaced my '98 with a 2003 for $2995. It was certified, E-tested and licensed with new tires, exhaust, brakes front and rear( rotors&drums, pads and shoes) fresh undercoating, wash &wax. paint touch up etc. I'm still finding new parts on it. I still have the old one which has so many interchangable parts including all the new stuff I put on after my strut recall repairs when I thought the truck would last for a few more years (wrong). I couldn't have fixed up the old one for what I paid for the new one plus I stll have the '98 for new spare parts. I loved my old truck too but knew when to stop tossing money at it. Don't let anyone tell you can fix it for snack food prices when they don't know your situation. Any way Ev good luck with what ever you decide. Forgot to ask do you have rust issues? For me that was the end factor.
  4. Sent my mother (she's 82) off to church today in the new Pathfinder. I want her to get use to it before the snow comes. I hope she makes it there and back O.K. , it took a long time to find that truck.
  5. I tried my 15" spare on my '03 with new brakes.and they turn easily by hand but do touch. They might clear if the rim wasn't packed with mud and rust but I plan on grinding a little of the calipers before installing the tires for the winter. I'd rather grind them down a bit than add spacers.
  6. Jeeze that's a toughy...the first car I sold was a '72 Duster for $25 bucks. I see them going for $100,000 restored now. I know nothing about new stuff (after 2010) but I'd guess the same as 25-40 years ago...Camaros, Vettes, Chargers, Challengers etc. I hear some people even like Mustangs? Then there is the imports to consider.
  7. It's kdj,(jkd is my identical twin) when my drivers side strut tore off(that was a fright) there was only a rusty bubble on the passenger side. I didn't think Nissan would even touch it but they did the patch on both sides. 6 months later I had a fist sized hole where the rear of the lower controle arm mounts (2" from the patch). I scraped and cleaned and undercoated for four years before this and beleive me no one was more surprised than me when that spot erupted to the point I was afraid to drive it with in a month or two. As for the dealer, why would they buy my truck when they could fix it for a couple of hundred bucks? Between the new exhaust, new tires, rotors, pads etc. that I had done in the same time line because I thought the truck was now good for years, it fell apart, they patched it for a couple hundred. I wouldn't have let them buy it after just sinking a couple of grand into it. It's now my parts source for the new 2003 Chilkoot. Will I never learn?
  8. On my Hardbody that gasket seemed fine till the truck frame snapped and dropped-just that jolt shot enough gas out the top of the tank to soak the whole tank and stink up the place for a week. When I pulled the pump out there was just a little hair line crack in the gasket. The gas normaly never got up that high but the fumes would.
  9. No need to apologize for a "rant" nobody want's to get screwed by the "experts". Good luck getting it straightend out.
  10. I even got the side wall damage insuance...I'm covered no matter what I do to them. I think mine cost about the same with balencing , valves, installation, insurance etc.
  11. If they fix the strut housings BELIEVE me the front end will be done for VERY soon. Primer and paint will not help what is happening around the strut patch area and front sub frame. I don't mean to sound negative but I just junked mine after the recall repair.
  12. Four for the price of three? I have the same ones! Man they work great in snow as well. I couldn't be happier with them, I think you will be as well.
  13. Just had my "strut housings " repaired by Nissan free under recall last Jan. I just junked the truck because the rot extended beyond the patches they glued on and they aren't resposible for anything past the patch area. When my rear lower control arm mount started to tear off truck (2" from the patch)I had to scrap it. If they "fix" the strut housing just know that you better start shopping for something else to drive before the rest of the front end falls off the "frame rails"...the rust doesn't stop there and will not stop anywhere.
  14. I have about the same clearance if not a bit less between the strut and tire with my 31X10.5X15 Wrangler Territory tires. Never been an issue but anything bigger would be. I have them on factory 15X7 rims with 1.57"(40mm)offset. I did have one barely touch the inner fender somewhere during a rather fast full lock reverse turn in a snowy bumpy parking lot, but just that once and that wasn't "normal" driving.
  15. JustinW-I either read your post wrong or typed mine wrong, you are 100% correct!
  16. Just to be clear, my comment had to do with my dislike for Kyle Busch being on my battery and nothing to do with Stewart or Kevin Ward. That is something I would NEVER joke about.
  17. Uhm...the VQ35 is DUEL overhead cams (DOHC). Two cams, but it is four valves per cyl. for a total of 24 valves. I don't think anything is interchangable with the VG33 that is SINGLE overhead cam (SOHC)...one cam and 2 valves per cyl. As for small block Chevys almost everything is interchangable. I've got mid 70's 307 with heads, intake, carb etc. from a late 60's 350 on it and any of it will interchange with the 1980 350 from my 3/4 ton truck that I have in my '74 Nova etc. etc.
  18. Peeled the Kyle Busch sticker off my new Interstate (his sponser) battery today. It's nice to get passed by other vehicles without that crying noise from under the hood. Plus the truck doesn't swerve at them as they go by like it was doing.
  19. I've thinking on taking the one from my '98 and putting it on my '03. The new one doesn't have one and it seems to pick up a lot more dirt on the back window than the old one did, could be my imagination though.
  20. I have 35 PSI in the new truck (245/70 16) and 40 in the old one (31x10.5x15).
  21. I'll third that. I mean they're your brakes, why mess around you might need them some time.
  22. I brought the new truck home on Tues. and today I drove it through a house. I just can't have anything nice! Luckely it was just a Fisher Price playhouse but when it flew out of the bed of a truck I was about to meet on the hyw. it looked mighty big. Anyway the roof panels got jammed up under the bumper and in the passenger wheel well. Crunched up the bumper cover and peeled a bunch of paint. The owner said he wasn't going far so that's why he hadn't bothered to tie it down. Oh well at least he clean up the mess I scattered down the road.
  23. Devonian...sorry about the spelling, I couldn't edit.
  24. I got the new truck and yes they fit. Devonion I tried kissing them but I'll probably grind down a bit of the outer edge of the calipers for rim clearance but YES they fit even without it. 31X10.5x15 instead of 265x70x16.
