My father bought this place in 1955. It is still the same phone no. and it's long distance to the back of the farm. I'm only 1/2 hour from the 401 at Brockville. I think you've been through this area?

My last one was a '73 Sno-Jet with the Yamaha 292. It was the last year for the Sno-Jet after Yamaha bought them out.

If it was me I would go with the new ones. When you have a truck worth thousands I wouldn't worry about spending an extra $100 to have new one especialy with the use you most get from them during the winter.

Well I got a couple of things taken off of the frame today. But best of all I got the skies for it! 1968 Ski Doo is I remember right. Some older northern members might remember them. They will fit right into the front mount for the rear spring. Getting that bathtub sized gas tank out is the next project.

I take that as a complement! I wish I could post some photos but I'm on a old old computer and a dial up connection with pulse dialing on a party line. Maybe some of you old folks know what that means. But anyways I can't do photobucket or watch videos or use paypal etc. etc. I can email photos though so maybe I can send them to someone and they can post them for me? My brother is coming out tomorrow so after he sees it the sawzall is coming out and the truck becomes a front wheel drive two wheeler!

Ha ! I've never heard this saying but is how I have tried to live my life.

I took the seat bottoms out of mine and with the front seats moved forward I can fit a full length air mattress in there without being cramped. Do you have locking hubs? You should start looking into finding members along your route, meet some new people and maybe get some free camping spots. Sounds like a great trip, make sure you get lots of pictures to share with us when you return.

Plan A is remove drive shalf, exhaust and gas tank. Unbolt the leafs at the front eyes and drivers side shock. Then cut off the remaining frame with rear axle. That will leave about two feet of frame sticking out behind the cab which should give me enough room to mount the gas tank sideway across the rails. I might have to lengthen the fuel lines a bit but the harness for the fuel pump looks long enough. Then mount a pair of snowmoble skis I have to the frame stubs and off to the shop. It is just across a stretch of grass so it should make it. I don't think I'll have to worry about no brakes if I keep it under 50 MPH! If it makes it I can bring the back half over with the front end loader. Plan B is Nunyas idea...I already have the music playing in my head and have the torch ready.

So my brother the welder finely got his new mig welder and I went to take my Hardbody down to the shop for him to fix up the frame. I made it 10 feet...then BANG...both frame rails broke over the rear axle. I had already taken the box and back bumper off so now the rear rails at the bumper mounts are 50 inches off the ground and it's belly is dragging. It pulled off the rear brake line and rear end vent but the exhaust and gas tank and lines survived. Now I have to figure out how to get a V shaped truck 500' to the shop. As sad as this is I couldn't help LMAO when I rolled out of the thing as saw what had happened. I mean the shackels are horizontal now not vertical and the springs are streched out almost flat. What do I do now? This truck is for around the farm not the road.

Recycled? Here the only way to dispose of oil or filters is on "Hazardous Waste Day" at the dump. You have to save them up for a once a year disposal.

Most days I'm in and out of the back of mine 10 times a day getting tools for work. There is no way I would deal with a rear carrier. If I'm in town parked I wouldn't have room to swing it out and get the hatch open with someone parked two feet behind me. I have a full size spare at home with a real jack. I've never had a flat, but if I do one phone call gets both delivered and it saves carting around an extra 100 pounds or so of stuff I've never needed. But that's just me.

If you're paying him by the hour anything you can do yourself to save him time is money you keep your pocket. Plus it will help you bond with the the new truck. I learned more about mine by tearing things apart that I could learn from the repair manual.

Ya, I was worried for bushnut because I was told they weren't responsable if you'd modified your suspension. I just had both sides of mine done in the fall and wasn't to happy with the "repairs" they did, but they did what they were responsible for. The metal all around the patches is falling apart now and I need a new truck before the lower control arms fall off. But they don't worry about anything past the patch size. They filled where the collapsed housing tore off the frame with tar if it was past the patch so I wouldn't see the damage. Left lots of old bolt holes were they moved brake lines and things. Most of the bolts they broke off they just ignored...my air box rattles around now because they broke off all but one bolt, etc. etc. But the thing that bugs me the most was they removed the one clunking strut with the torn up boot and put it back in with out even saying anything about it to me. If the had told me they were going to repair it I would have had them replace it while it was apart. Just got a call saying come and get it.

Glad you are mobile again! Some spread knowledge some of us spread ...

Cleaned the inside of my windsheild for the first time since freeze up last fall...turns out I don't need glasses after all.

I named mine Rusty.
-
For some reason when ever I get behind one I start thinking "did I leave the oven on?" That's a safety issue.
-
Every time I've been up to my nuts in ice for 5 or 6 months I think "maybe some undercoating will help". Over 30 miles round trip to a car wash around here.

My drivers side housing collapsed last fall. They have a patch that covers the recall area. Nothing more. In Ontario they will patch both sides for about $600 (free to you). They will not buy your truck unless you want that price. Would you sell for $600? Other wise they fix it. If you have modified the suspension they are not liable for a strut housing failure. The recall only covers that area. Mine had 12'" rip off the frame and push into the steering...I think all that was holding it was the brake line. They didn't offer a penny, they patched the recall area for $600 to them. That's all they have to do. I wouldn't worry about about them taking your truck. I'd worry about the rest of the rust. I had mine repaired last fall and now I have holes though the frame inches from their "patches". The new holes are not in the recall area. Good luck, I don't know why they want you to wait, my dealer wanted to pick mine up the day I called to ask about the recall. They got it on Tues. I picked up Thurs. evening, all patched up. Now the rest of the front "frame" is fubared.

AC in Texas...are you kidding me? I slipped on some ice this morning at the cabin and almost broke my ass! The good news is the blackflies are are out!!! Think I might have swallowed my first 'skeeter of the year.
-
Oh and if you have raised or modified your suspension they aren't resposible for anything..
-
You can put them on your rims but they won't fit under the truck. With my '98 31's leave me less than 1/4" clearance. Not 4" ...unless you have a torch...yes a torch!!!

I just had mine repaired last fall after the whole drivers tower ripped lose. I called the dearer, they sent out a flatbed and took it away. Got it back a few days later all fixed up. The worse shape your truck is in the more apt they are to fix it. Why buy back something at any price when they can fix it up for a few hundred. I was under mine yesterday and my rear mount for the lower control arm ( 4" from their repair) is now rotted out. I guess they figure it's OK that the control arm falls off but not the strut. They only have to fix it well enough to out last they rest of the rust. So I'm starting the dreaded search for a new ride.

Huh?

My '98 has one mounted inside the rear window with a couple of screws. Don't see why you couldn't swap one with a bit of wiring from a rear tail light.
