  1. You mean I was right? Gotta mark that on the calender.
  2. Just drove home in the best white out in Southern Ont. this winter!!! At least 3" rain and 4" snow!
  3. I always thought the trucker's handle was "silver tongued devil"...learn something new every day.
  4. The rear brakes self-adjust every time the emergency brake is applied. Try applying the e-brake a few times...it may help.
  5. I no longer carry a spare. I figure if I get a flat I'm getting a ride home to get a "real" jack and a four way so I'll get the spare at the same time.
  6. O.K. thanks for the info. I've been rereading the old posts and finding lots of good stuff...and lots that have asked over and over again.
  7. As an added note the manual says...For driving up or down long slopes where engine braking would be advantageous, push the overdrive switch. The O/D OFF light illuminates. When cruising at low speed or climbing a gentle slope, you may feel uncomfortable shift shocks as the transmission shifts between 3rd and overdrive repleatedly. In this case press the overdrive switch. The O/D OFF indicator light comes on at this time. Just remember to turn it back on or your gas mileage will be even less than "normal".
  8. I just replied to a post from a few years ago by mistake. I was kick off a site a while ago for "not letting old dogs lie" they said. How old of post can be commented on? Don't want to p*ss anyone off, I was rereading stuff and forgot what year it was.
  9. As my manual say "The over drive does not engage until the engine has warmed up" Mine used to worry my till I realised it knows what it's doing. Once it engages I'm at 2000rpm's at 90 KMS.
  10. If you go to a site like Nissan Parts Zone you can find a complete parts break down of all the parts. To anyone working on their truck I'd suggest getting a repair manual(such as Haynes). Complete step by step instruction on how to take it all apart and put it back together again. It'll cost about the same as 15 minutes in the shop, but of course they charge by the hour. It'll answer question you haven't even thought of yet.
  11. Try Nissan Parts.Com , they have the best pictorial views I've found so far.
  12. I finaly replaced the PRND21 light bulb that's been burnt out since I bought the truck 1 1/2 years ago.
  13. I never thought of it as a face lift but other then the grill it would look like a 2001 or newer. I was hoping that someone out there could do a side by side comparison between the 1998 and a 2001 to see what holds it together under the 2001 plastic corners and 98 back cover. Does anyone have both? The front cover is plastic corners and center in plastic for 2001 instead of corner and center bumper in chrome with plastic only under the bumper on the '98 I think.

  15. I've checked one place and they wanted about $100 dollar per corner and I'd like to do the plastic in black. I'm not a big fan of chrome.
  16. I have a 1998 Pathfinder with chrome bumpers that are rotting out. Does any one know if I could replace them with the plastic covers from the 2001 and up? They look like they will work but I only have photos of the 2001 as reference. I have a Chilkoot with the plastic flares. Any opinions? Thanks.
  17. Last week I removed my AC belt and my squeal stopped, then 10 miles later my harmonic balencer slid forward till it just touched the fan clutch. I made it home and got every apart except for the balencer bolt. I tried every thing but it would not budge. Just had it towed to the mechanic to see if he could anything with it. $280 for the pulley, $100 for towing and who knows how much the garage bill will be. I love my pathfinder but the is p*ssing me off! I still don't know if the mechanic can get the bolt out, if not I guess I've got a realy big door stop.
  18. And it's so much quieter. I couldn't figure out the noise in the front end last Monday going to work. Then relzed I hadn't unlocked the front end after the weekend. Did that at the gas station...and it was back to nice and quiet again.
