I don't remeber which thread was the one where people were talking about engine rpm on the highway but here is my 95XE auto with 4.6 gears doing what the speedo thinks is 70. My truck came with 235s so the speedo is off about 10 percent so its probably going closer to 80mph. Not that high after all.

It is also known on the 95's for the tach itself to go bad. On the 95 I bought a few months ago the tach spazes around like that but if you whack the dash it'll work for a bit then die.

Some people even have trouble finding people to work on them. I had an intermittent no reverse but I flushed my tranny twice and it seems to have fixed the problem. I guess it was just dirty. The fluid was dark when I bought it. Was the fluid always changed at the correct interval on your truck? If it was neglected it may also explain why this has happened.

How long has it been since the fluid has been changed?

That looks good. Probably what I should get. I should really get around to installing one. Though my auto trans has seemed to make this far with no external cooler. I have 170k ish miles.

X2 My other truck ran for 30 minutes with the 5 year old battery in it and a dead alty.

My idle will jump when the a/c compressor cycles on. I find if you're not holding the brakes firmly enough it will actually make the truck lurch a little.

Check your power steering belt. Mine used to do that when i turned sharp after hitting puddles when it was raining.

Mine shifts rough until warmed up with the stock cooler...Even kinda rough from 1-2 in the summer unless you've been driving for about 20 minutes. Meh its got 175k.

There is no coolant it's just the ATF (tranny fluid) circulating through a radiator that is self contained inside the main radiator. Also it is pumped by the transmissions internal oil pump. Hope that explains it.

I would stick to Nissan parts. That is what I used when the time came on my 95 and I haven't had any issues. I've heard of people getting after market water pumps and that they were noisy. I personally will go to the dealership for most of my parts, or if I have to go to a store I get re manufactured Nissan stuff or whatever has lifetime warranty. My truck has 280,000 kilometers (about 175,000 miles) and it runs perfectly, and sounds like new.

I heard that you can rebuild your idler arm with new bushings...Forget who said that though.

Better safe than sorry. I know 2 people that tow at least 1500lbs with their pickups. And this is a relatively flat area. They said they wouldn't even think about towing without them. One is a landscaper I worked for the and the other is a farmer.

Because that's how they can get away with using a 155hp engine and not have it be a snail. Plus we've got a 6k redline, look at most American trucks, their redline is 4.5 or 5k and most people never rev them above 3. And these motors seem to last way longer too. Hmm. And that 305 gmc Sierra is almost as gutless as a pathfinder is. Considering how heavy the truck is and the motor is only 192 horse or something like that.
