  1. So My reason in cutting the corners up on my new bumper is to give me more tire face in order to help get over objects....but I did not realize what the metal behind it was... I am already planning on cutting that portion (just above and behind the factory foglights that have been removed) of the fender for a different reason, but can I cut the front facing sheet metal? It feels much more substantial as it is the rad support and all..... j/w
  2. I'll put it this way. Its safe to say you probably won't GAIN mpg...lol, logic says you should loose mpg with the larger size, but I don't think you'll even notice!
  3. Here, now you don't feel so crappy-
  4. you also have to remember that the engine will be working harder to keep the larger tires moving....so if your using an auto it may not shift the same so your engine may be screaming at 4-5k rpms before it tries to lower them... if I fiddle with mine just right on 33's, I can sit @ 65mph (55 on my speedo)at anywhere from 1500 to 2500 rpms (depending on hills and such) on cruise, and I can barely hear the engine! I can't say I've noticed a mileage INCREASE by any means, again, the engine has to work harder due to extra spinning weight... However, if you have/get 4.6 gears, and since 31's were a stock option, you would probably be much happier.
  5. USPS followed my tracking number from MI to Canada no problem :\
  6. I used the fibreglass stuff to do a little smoothing, it doesn't work mirror finish good, but it bridged a small gap in my steel fab easily!
  7. go to a local offroad shop, ask to order the UCA's for a 90s hardbody, if you don't get the shocks (wish I woulda) you can get them for about 200 bucks, then you can sell the shackles to a hardbody owner....or slade if your me
  8. Mine has faired well.....and I've abused it plenty....although I haven't put the weight of the truck on it
  9. Yeah, pretty certain. Its pretty simple, bend some exhaust pipe, seal off all the factory box inlets, cut a 3" hole, and attach!
  10. Yes.....go to autozone, or murrays, they are one size (3") so you will need to modify it by tapering some of the holes strategically, because it will have to carefully straddle the MAF. I'll get the link http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/SCT0/8148.oap?keyword=cold+air+intake&pt=N1487&ppt=C0280
  11. I just put a pipe wrench around the shock cover to unscrew it, easy fix... Was a total PITA to get the rear springs in, but I ended up using a gooseneck bar to pry the old ones off and a 4' piece of 2" wide 1/4 thick over the drum and onto the seat, and basically just shoved the compressed spring into place, and wacked it with a hammer for a while before it finally slipped in... Getting em out was just as difficult, I had to use the spring compressors on the stock ones to....again, total PITA
  12. My next vehicle.....r50. I like it w/the running boards personally, it connects both wheel wells better and they look very comfy and nice...
  13. btw, if you add a rear bumper you can shave the rear tail lights put in oval LED's in the new bumper= legal HOWEVER I think you should do something like this http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=XJRUPGRD97&Category_Code=XJArmor personally, the effort it would take to do that kind of renovation, I'd rather keep it stock and SAS the front/rear and stretch it 6" PS, you will probably need to add atleast a small interior cage to protect against the cab crushing down, considering you stole a pillar..
  14. I'm thinking it might be cheaper to do this and have someone with a decent welder burn in the welds than build my own! x2 on locating gusset kit
  15. more than likely that is your issue.....plus, couldn't HURT your issue by fixing it
  16. I'd sooner buy a new bumper with an added tire carrier, so then your upgrading while making your life easier instead of doing more work to get something not as useful....but thats just my opinion.
  17. water depth doesn't mean a whole lot...I've accidentally gone through water that has poured over my hood and up my windshield/doors w/o ruining my engine, although the cab got water in it.... And a snorkel always helps
