  1. There was a real good write up on what a guy did to tow a race car with his, I'll see if I can find it.
  2. Gears is where its at, re gear the front and rear too 4.9 out of a nismo fronty... May hurt your gas milage but everything will last longer Tranny cooler is a must and a E-fan, HD Alty to keep the battory charged to move the fan and a COA along with your exhaust. The COA is what I think will give you most power, since I suspect you will be running WFO up those long grades. Gearing will help loads in keeping the power too the ground. Then tires and wheels, I will say for towing bigger wheels are better then smaller, I'd look at a mininum of 16x7 inch wheels with a wider then stock( asuming you have the 235 tire) tire. Something, well anything bigger then the stock 235s are better. They offer better handling while towing.
  3. D30s are ok, gearing is ok also, I bought one sunday with 4.88s and chromoly shafts for 300 bucks. Now I just need a 4.9 rear pig. d30 dont break, OSR, there housings bend, if there breaking shafts there housing is already bent. You find them from 25-400 bucks, with higher end ones being sold around 400. For a pathfinder there fine, there like a toyota axle but cheaper too find. Also, OSR, if there breaking axles or housings with tires less then 33"s then there beating the living @!*% out of there trucks. For an aol lift there good enough. Now if the OP is looking to run 34+ inch tires then yes a d44 will work loads better then a d30. And in that case I would say get a large knuckle ford d44 front.
  4. Got my 95 in jan 08, needed a car and all the s10s where out of my price range unless they where clapped out 2wd's. Went too look at a Jetta that was priced with in my range(1700) and noted a 95 GA 2 door and a eairly 90s Dakata for the same price. The Dakata was B/A, but was pieced togeather (ever see a 4 barrel 3.9 v6 with duel exhaust and a hood scoup witha 3+od manuel most balls I've ever seen in a dodge v6) and needed more work, the GA and Jetta didnt tickle me as much as they should have plus they where slush boxs. The pathfinder looked solid, and ran and drove well enough, had a slight rms leak and the rear tires where balled. They wanted 1700 for it, I got it for 1500 plus tax( so it was 1700 still) Drove it for a month and the frame broke, went back and the only car they still had was the dakota, drove it again and still had problems, and I wouldnt be able too keep tires on it. So the pathfinder got the frame welded. Been with me ever since other then the month and a half it was gone getting the timing belt and cam seal replaced. Tranny died in august 09 and it has been a bale pusher ever since. Once it gets nice out (and money allow) its getting the IFS cut off and a dana 30 in front with leafs and a slushbox rebuild and pressed into dd servis with knobbie 33s.

The necks from a self indused car accident in 2010, the back is said too have happen years ago from the looks of the xrays. I cant think of anything other then crashing my four wheeler back when I was 10.

  6. Yawn, another day

  7. Hell, I've ran pennzoil 20-20 which is a 20 weight I guess and Accel straight 30... its been in lawn mowers and a tractor but theres still uses for straight weight oils.
  8. I'm with the 4 popper wheeler there, grind them till you find them, eh. As far as being in neutral for extended peroids of time, folks they mean leaving it in neutral for a few days because they will become stuck in neutral, and the chance that your a complete moran and park on a hill and the thing rolls away even if the trannys in gear/park.
  9. Really, your phatefinder must be decked out there then barbie

  11. Looks just like my 95.

  12. Locker brand? A lot of people will scream ARB air locker, but a Deroit is cheaper and just as tuff (if not more, I lean toward Eaton brand over other) But first you will to verfy that you have a open diff in the rear axle. If not you will need to swap too one that is open and not equiped with a LSD. Solid axles? People will also scream for a jeep wagoneer dana 44 front, which will fit just find and work. I on the other hand would look for a Ford bronco dana44 or possibly if your gonna swap the engine/tranny out for a gm brand a dana 44 from a 3/4 truck. There is little need to SAS swap your pathfinder if your trails are muddy tracks, a snorkle, BL and SL will give it enough room too fit 35s stock( I admit, skinny 35s) will a minmum of fender cutting/rolling. Although if you do run 33s or 35s you should up grade the center link. Most people go with the HooAH brand( I think thats the name of it anyway)
  13. There are some Qs that I need too ask? What where the trails terrain? Really you say that HMMWV's and 5ton trucks have been down them, well the hummers are under powered( and weigh a ballz load) with true AWD and those 5 ton trucks ride on 46inch tires. Having said that the other guys have gotten the genral stuff, but with out knowing what you wheel we cant(no buddy can really) say what would work best in your terrain.
  14. Ah, Amsoil, I used too sell that crap and you know what. Royal purple and the old Mobile one are Just as good, and a lot cheaper. Hell any sin oil can go 15k with filter swaps, even Supertech(which is by the way a real good oil, its made and bottled by Warren Racing) But the fact is, its still cheaper too change dino at 5k then it is too buy sin and swap filters every 5k.
  15. Find them in old IHC Scouts, thats about the only place unless theres an odd ball one in a van.
  16. Dont look bad, looks like something you'd see on a mud truck that bashs trees a lot. I personally would leave it alone since I like it. It has the looks of a Roo bar or deer killer you see on semi's. And I dont think thats a bird in the back ground, it looks like a early to mid second gen 'maro that still had metal bumpers, minus the bumper and hood.
  17. Not really, Its still a nissan body and frame. The small block thing has been done too these a lot with favorable out comes but a BB is pushing it over the top and the fact that it hasnt been done to a wd21 before (d21 yes, but not a pathfinder) As far as ripping the heart out why would that really matter, you see chevys and ford running around with built ford tuff with chevy stuff, and such. It comes down too what works and what doesnt. Does it make sense too have a 1/4 and off road combo truck that needs too be rev'd to 8k to run a 15 second 1/4 and starts building tourqe at 3500rpm?
  18. Samething happen to me, I ran through a 5 qrt bottle of motocraft semi sin in 1500 miles.
  19. ^^^ most helpful none biased post right there^^^
  20. There 50 bucks for cheap ones(that just tell you the code and doesnt tell you number 3 injecter is farked through the scanner)
  21. I love that button on mine, it used too make my fogs come on... I have a kick ass little red button under the steering wheel cubby for my shocks (my truck is a old torn apart whore though)
  22. I adgree, when it first started I was in it for a little bitch fight but now its anoyying. -My welds are better then your welds -No there not, I'm a proffesional! -Oh, yeah, well there still better then yours!! Well to tell you the truth, my welds are better then all of yours and my Daddy can beat up your Daddy!!
