Be prepared to rig up some good support/bracing to hold the doors. JJ Big Shoe replaced the pins/bushings, stated it was a PITA, partially due to the weight of the doors and it was something he would have the stealership do next time IIRC. B

I have to chime in here... What you want to use is UHMW PE (Ultra High Molecular Weight PlolyEthethylene) Here is an example... http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXN...PMT4NO=50551935 I made a front skid plate that JJ big shoe is using, seems to work well. You can heat it to bend it with out harm, but it has memory and will try to spring back until it cools. It is a tough polymer that will last as long as you mount it well. I am considering making some for people now that I have a straight Pathy to use for fitment, but that will be some time off. I could have sworn I did a write up on how to make them... The problem with 'cutting boards' is unless it is well labeled, you don't know what you are getting, but the up side is that when you roll, you can cut tomatoes... B Found something... http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...031&hl=UHMW

Sheit!!! I'd love to have that to do a tune up on my 'new' to me '95!!! It does need it, but I've been doing fluids first and haven't worked up to the ignition or belts yet. BUT I'm not starving or a college student so I will step aside for those that it carries the most impact for... Thank you very much for your generous offer!! It is much appreciated; this is the kind of community spirit we try to generate here, yet you come back from the past to humble us with your offer. You had better post some pictures of your X or I'll find you and stuff a sardine in your heater box!!! B

Yes, probably just fine... B

Rear Spring Options For Lifting Your WD21 Pathy
Precise1 replied to 88pathoffroad's topic in How-To's
Yes and yes, but you won't have as much flex ability in the rear and the front components (mainly ball joints) will wear a bit faster without new UCAs. B -
Yes, but do you wait 100k miles on a 60k mile rated belt?? Be my guest... B
-
If that is correct and from what Rob said, sounds like you just drive without ABS. Sure it's nice to have, but I've never had it in 20 years of driving and never crashed due to lack of it... B

Ok, I'm suspicious... Why brand new timing belt @179k? Change intervals is every 105k for a 95. Did he let it go until it jumped a tooth or two, then had it replaced just to sell? Definitely ask what up with that. He doesn't mention that the water pump is new... Honestly, I think you can do better than that; I know I can out here. 179k is fairly high milage, I got my 95 with 95k for $3300 (3700 asking)... I'd pass on the junk yard pathy also, sounds like a headache... Seriously, look for a lower milage solid base truck and be patient. It's not as bad as it seems, just takes a different driving style. Remember, if you buy an auto and then get a frame rotted basket case with a manual tranny cheap, you can install the manual for virtually no additional cost. Well, maybe the cost of clutch parts... Here is one I'd at least call about (for me it's local). can't tell if its manual or auto though... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/852797308.html $2k for 140k mile manual... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/852797308.html Crap, I have a 130k mile motor in the red 95 that could be swapped!!! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/852279769.html For the 2 door lovers, this one looks CHERRY!!! 1987 and only 137k... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/848275902.html Ok, you get the point. Check out plane tickets to San Francisco... B

"A car lurks in Nissan Pathfinder" article form 1990
Precise1 replied to MY1PATH's topic in General Forums
"Rear door opens left to right..." WTF?? B -
Look in the Classifieds section under Services. We have a resident Nissan dealership on line sales manager who can get it all! The contact info is there and the prices are reasonable... B

LIES!!! ALL LIES!!! The real Dowser died over a year ago. I should know, I helped shovel frozen dirt on his rigid corpse!!! Be gone foul demon, lest I am forced to use the power of Tequila against you!! Ehem, is that really you? It writes like you... Still, I am not sure. Send in your first born for testing, we will determine the truth (ground shipment is prefered). LOL, no crap, Dowser?? I thought you died and went to bum fark Canada or something!! Oh, yeah, well.. OK then!! Jokes aside, I'm sorry about your pups. I didn't click on the links 'cause I didn't want to be sad and have no idea what to say other than it is inevitable and it sucks. Just remember the good parts, right? Congrats on the larva, perhaps it will grow into a human. Call me when that happens... LOL, I'd buy that before breakfast... Congrats on the new home though, sounds like you are far better situated than before. Me, I'm still saving... Well, the damnest thing happened a few weeks ago... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19658 Yeah, I now drive an auto and the old 95 is a parts pig (but I'm saving the manual tranny and parts for good luck). How do I like it? As a manual driver for 20 years, I can say it is weird as hell!!! I forget to put it in park, to keep my foot on the brake at a light, stop trying to slap it into neutral when I coast down, step on the clutch when I start it, etc. I look like a special ed kid in a go cart... Ok, once I manage to get started and moving, it seems ok, other than how I can't control the rpm, have little compression braking and often wonder why nothing happens when I step lightly on the gas. It's a new world!! More convenient as I can hold my latte while I talk on the cell phone easily, but the tranny's lack of response unless I stomp on the gas pedal (which spills the latte on my shirt and makes me shove the cell into my ear) is REALLY annoying. All that said, if you find THE truck except that is an auto, buy it. Hopefully the auto is well maintained and lasts, but even if it isn't, you can swap it out for a manual... I'll be looking for you but out here, the pathys are generally more expensive than elsewhere. Of course, they are usually in better shape... Too bad though, last month there was a guy selling a black 95 in New York (115k or something) for $1000. Good to hear from you again Dowser!! Best wishes and good luck for you and the family. Don't worry, we'll find you a pathy... B

Does the adapter gradually tighten during the 2 turns on the block nipple or does it just all of a sudden stop dead? There may a burr or bit of casting slag at the root of the thread that interferes... Look real close under bright light (you may just see heavy wear marks in the aluminum). If you find something, try to pick it out with a needle file or just dremel that section away (if possible) with a small burr. If you have lots of crap in the threads, you may have to use a small wire wheel and spiral along the thread path. If the threads are just too tight, all I can think of is a tap or chucking it up on a lathe and picking up the threads for chasing. OR if you can get the block nipple off, cut a small groove across the threads all the way to the root for the depth you need to thread it into the adapter (this will create a down and dirty chip groove and cutting edge although it will form as much as it cuts). Use plenty of lube and start twisting the block nipple into the adapter (2 counter locked nuts would make a handy hold point) 1/8-1/4 turn at a time, backing it off 1/4 turn each time. Continue until finished. OR if you can get the block nipple off, go to the parts store with it and your adapter and buy a new one that will screw in. Yeah, not all threads are created equal, I've run into this kind of crap before. Thats why there are a minimum diameter, maximum diameter and pitch diameter tolerances!!! Bastages!!! Good luck Bud, and yell if you need clarification on anything. Who made the kit you bought? B

Not that I ever considered retreads before, but... No thanks... B

AAAHHHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! *gasp* I just noticed... Nismojunky is looking forward to a 9000LB wench!!! All I can say is DUDE!!! Tie your self off and bring a map!! B

Don't mind him Bud, he's just the US wannabe version of V6... B

Just yank it out. All it does is add weight and slow you down!! JUST KIDDING MAN!!! Be gentle with it, it's required! Now, put the lid back on it, tighten the screws up and leave it alone. B

Calling all Washingtonians!!! Washingtonites? Washingtoners? Anyway, put down the lipstick and keep your eyes peeled! That sucks!! Unfortunately, it's probably in Canada, on someones ranch or a burnt/drowned hulk somewhere in the back 40. Still, I'm hoping they get some satisfaction, one way or another... B

That seems wrong. There has to be a difference in sidewall stiffness, cords/winding, etc... Having essentially 4 different tires on the same truck must affect handling! B
-
Holy crap!! I'd love to pay $18.75 each for a set of mounted MTs!! B
-
Not crapping on you Bud, and to each their own... That said, function over form. Body work before mechanical work is a form of idiocy in my book. B

Absolutely, but I went over the GF's plastic lens covers with a stitched muslin polishing wheel and plastic polish mounted in a hand drill. It took some patience but made a heck of a difference!! ****Note**** It took a while because if you spin too fast or dwell too much you will melt the plastic and make 10X the work for yourself. Trust me on this, go light an easy, then it will work fine. I had to take 600 grit sand paper the the first lens, then 1000, then 2000 then re-polish... I often do this to help break free anything that is corroded and have not had any problems. This is called 'ringing' and specifically calls for a non-dead blow type hammer. I'll scream this from the roof tops!! Here is my solution. Need easy eye protection and hands free lighting ? Lets face it, it can be too dark even in mid day. This is what I got and they work perfectly!!! I'll slide under, turn on the lights, position them and do what I need to do. If only I could remember to wear a bandana so I don't need to spit so much... http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXN...PMT4NO=50278244 B

Nice, and welcome back!! It looks like you are pissing the dogs off though... If you want to save people, you really should consider a WD21 though... Sorry, just me being an ... B

I would literally laugh in their face. I just bought a '95XE with 95k, nice body/paint, no rust, rebuild auto trans, new:battery, radiator, starter, master cylinder, fuel filter, ball joints, tie rod ends and I forget what else for $3,300 in Cali. Yes I got a good deal. The point is, they exist with private sellers. Check all the time, have cash on hand, check the truck out WELL (I brought a creeper), be patient and don't be afraid to talk them down or walk away (my seller wanted $3700). They are out there and after seeing a few, you will have a good idea as to what is worth buying and at what price. As has been said, these little SUVs are not popular now due to the relatively poor gas milage (my neighbor with a 2007 Silverado gets better milage than I do). Be patient and look around. Hell I was looking at buying a truck in New York and having it shipped/driven back... B
