  1. LOL, they dont attach the rods and pistons, they attach weights in the rod journals to simulate the weight. You should also attach the flywheel etc. http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2008/04/RotatingAssembly/
  2. Technically you should have the whole rotating assembly balanced before you put it in the block for optimum performance. However, from what I have read this is mostly important for high rpm applications and for applications where you produce over 250hp. If you are doing a VG34 modification - which can PERHAPS get you to 240-250hp - it might be a good idea to do it, but as you will be using the power mostly in the lower rpm bands it probably wont matter. If you do just the VG33 swap then I wouldn't think its necessary at all. Saying that, if you have the extra cash, why not?
  3. How do the shock mounts attach and where would you attach them to the LCA?
  4. installed my 99 pathfinder console - muhahaha cupholders!
  5. I got mine from amazon with all the hardware/pin included. The rock auto site had listings for the shock only, or the shock plus hardware (including pin) last time i checked.
  6. some people have had success with placing the ecu in the glovebox without extending any wires. others have sealed the ecu in a plastic tupperware container and siliconed it shut. as far as plumbing - have you seen where the intake/airbox is? you cant get it any higher without putting a snorkel device in.
  7. you really can't find them on summit?????
  8. try grassroots4x4.com and you should get a whole topic on the centerlink if you search on here. tells you everything you need to know. basically it is a replacement centerlink which helps solve some of the steering woes on the early pathfinders.
  9. I put an exedy clutch into mine - same manufacturer nissan uses - ran me 150 for the kit. I dont have any experience with the centerforce, but i dont know why they would burn up with more HP? I mean, they are designed for more HP. I'm pretty sure nissan has a HD clutch kit too, for towing or something. Idk if you can get them any more though.
  10. Saw this while messing around today. A different center link design with new tie rod location - would probably be able to make tie rods longer this way. Is it anyones on here? My link
  11. Haha, I wasn't sure - shoulda guessed it wasn't serious - no one on this forum ever is, lol. Any who - don't want to thread jack... lol
  12. I'm pretty sure that comment was just in jest Simon. Everyone here knows how much you go on the trails. And your X is definitely not built like a poser truck - it would have more chrome if it was (that was a joke too for everyone's info). Congrats on the taco ILMP, they are cool trucks.
  13. the bracket I used was from a truck with no sun-roof, and it fit my sun-roof equipped pathfinder just fine.
  14. yep. its a pain in the butt as the knuckle assembly is heavy and a bit awkward to manipulate.
  15. Weird that. Was it running rough at all? Or just the bad miles?
  16. The mods should start a "Spotted" thread
  17. cool, thats what I was thinking.
  18. I will be replacing the seal with a brand new one. I want to mount it on the roof-rack (Garvin wilderness, 4" height) but dont want to buy an expensive mounting system for it just yet. If I laid it on its side it would keep the profile low and I could lash it down much more securely.
  19. I have a pre-carb NATO jerry can that I'm going to take with me on my next trip. To save on space I was wondering if these can be stored on their sides (the large side) without leaking?
  20. welcome back i've seen this on cardomain i think and wondered if it ever got finished.
  21. er...its still in progress. actually I have been half done with it for a while now.....
  22. I'm averaging around 20mpg recently - but I am still on 31s, have headers, tuned recently, and mostly highway.
  23. welcome!! nice hood scoop. What have you done to the TD?
