Took the upper timing cover off, aligned it at TDC on the compression stroke, re-installed the distributor, put it all back together, then started the VG33E right up!
FINALLY got the intake manifold installed. Got all the spark plug wires but #6 - then it got dark and I gave up. Tomorrow: modify power-steering bracket, install radiator, fan, shroud, v-belts, header cross over, battery. Then turn the ignition.
Oh man. Tough break! You had fun with it though! I'm thinking a WD21 would be a good next investment also. Then we could buy parts off you to pay for it. lol
There were several brush/grille guards that were optional. From what I know "brush guard" means it "protects" the lights also, and grille guard just "protects" the grille. Generally a brush guard is part of a grille guard. As far as winch mounts go, I have seen pictures of a variety of guards that had a winch plate, and personally owned a factory guard that had a winch plate (no winch unfortunately). Incidentally, the winch that came from the factory was a 6000lber.
Get one with a MPFI V6. More power and you have the option of swapping in a vg33 with less issues later on down the road. Saying that, there is nothing wrong with the TBIs either.
How the hell did you get the thing back in? I have been fighting with it all day and finally just gave up (until tomorrow). I was trying to do it without unbolting the engine mounts (I just got them in and it will be irritating if I have to unbolt AGAIN). Does it make all the difference with the diff?
What did you use to lift the diff up?
Yeah, I understand why they did that. I was curious as to if I could run both tanks. But you are right, there is too much suspension stuff in the way - possibly the only downside of coils in the rear.
I'm picking up a set of cable style for the front tomorrow. If I have to put them on, then I will use them on the front for more steering/braking control. I can always throw it in 4wd if i loose forward traction.
Firstly you may need to work on some punctuation skills.
Secondly plenty of people have done 5 speed swaps including me, it is useful to search sometimes.
Thirdly a 5 speed from a 92 will fit in a 95. However, you must use the transfer case from the 95 as 1993 onwards had electronic speedometers and pre 1993 had mechanical.
