  1. :help: the coldest temps have hit us and it never fails, gonna have to work on the truck. went on a camping trip and on the way there, when i backed up at one spot, the speedo and odo went dead. i also have a CES light that came on shortly after.. have not retrieved the codes as i just got home. pretty sure it's unrelated but i'll update soon enough. hopefully nothing major as the truck seemed to run just fine. ok, if any of you have any ideas or suggestions i'd greatly appreciated. i know this has come up more then once but i am on dial-up right this moment, and probably will be that way for a little while longer, so i wasn't really able to search the forums as i really need a shower, unload and then retrieve the code(s.) thanks guys and gals.
  2. you gotta have mobil1, no?
  3. M1 works great on diesels too. almost all of us here have petrol motors.
  4. a friend of mine just had all that done on his X for $650 in Chicago. it ain't cheap up there at all.
  5. t-belt is around $30. there is quite a bit of work but can be done in one day as some have done on this forum. water pump should only be a charge for the pump really and i am pretty sure it's not 190.. 90 maybe. i don't think a genuine nissan pump is that much. you could always call a dealer.. it may be cheaper. lol .... but then lates over there are kinda steep. and the rest what MinKC said is right on. look for slick's write up on the PITA bypass hose; it's good and has great pics.
  6. drain and change the oil, clean/replace plugs... good luck
  7. same here.. maybe they need a regular workout or something?
  8. yeah 200k+ without the knowledge of the history of the t-belt.. hmmm.. bad spot.. is the starter now turning what seems faster and at a little bit higher pitch?
  9. timing off but the t-belt not broken. maybe jumped some teeth. how many miles on your truck? t-belt ever been done? just do it.
  10. i ran 100k on the 60k belt w/o any problems. when i changed it looked basically brand new. no cracks, no fraying..
  11. at this point i would start with opening up everything and that includes the ECU. if it wasn't swamped before i bet it is now. if you have any signs of water on the inside, when you get there tomorrow, then make sure you don't power up anything. i'd actually disconnect the battery immediately.. tow it home and open everything up.. let it dry out for a couple of days, in a warm garage if you can. check/change all the fluids.. wd40 all inside the cylinders, open and dry the distributor.. once everything is completely dry then reconnect everything, pray and give it a shot.
  12. he said it ran; just crappy. it's not the ecu. it's all the other stuff under the hood.
  13. i don't believe that thing alone would fit on any trail that i have been on. it would probably be one scary ride even on a track.
  14. either the fan is dead or you have blockage in the airways.
  15. the air intake is on the passenger's side. at least open it and air it and the filter out. the alt maybe over there too.. not picturing it right now so that's why maybe.
  16. yeah, should have left it running for as long as possible after the recovery so it could dry out some.. it's just very, very wet. try it tomorrow and let us know if anything has improved.
  17. yup. if you really like to work on your stuff all the time then just go ahead get a whole jeep.
  18. not hard, just undo the fill hole first just in case it's a stubborn one. then undo the one to dump. refill with either ATF or GL, depending on the year of your rig.
  19. it may not be out but on it's way. a friend of mine nissan car does the tach but not speedo and it's the SS.
  20. it's alright 98p. we're awaiting update, hopefuly he'll have good news.
