  11. Make sure to get an upper intake manifold gasket. While you have the plenum off, get about 3 cans of throttle body cleaner and clean the plenum and tubes/passage ways attached to it underneath of gunk. The blowby hose from the back of the passanger side rock cover to the intake sometimes is so old and hard it doesnt want to come off, or go back on. If it feels like very hard/stiff rubber I would get a new one before taking to the task on so you dont put it all back together and be left with needing just that one part to finish the job..........on a Sunday......at 10pm....when everything is closed...
  12. The solenoid on the starter is kaput. The pinion inside is getting hung up and not disengaging or engaging. Tapping on the solenoid semi-hard might free it up for a short while but it will eventually comeback to haunt, probably at the worst time possible. Eventually it will compeltely fail. The starter staying engaged is also going to tear your flywheel up, so I would fix the issue ASAP
  13. I dont think I have ever seen that before. It must be getting in from up by the hinges.
  14. It just depends on the part and what Nissan wants to to that month. Most reman units from Nissan have a core charge, but not all. Even some new units have a core charge so they can build up stock to start making remans. Catalytic converters also have core charges ($140!)now so Nissan can recycle them. Many transmissions and engiens have core charges and we also have some transmission valve bodies and throttle bodies with core charges.
  15. Based on this I would surmise there is an issue with the shifter or shifter linkage is out of adjustment. The transmission shifter is not fully in P sos the truck thinks it is in R the vehicle in R and will not start without the brake pedal pressed down. There is also a bushing the shift lock solenoid in the shifter that the solenoid bumps against that may be worn out.
  16. The steering dampner were optional on the Pathfiinder. Some had it, some didnt. In the end it is up to you. Do you need it for reagular driving....no. Is it something you want? that is up to you.
  17. You mention it happens are you got from gear to gear. As you sure this is not a manual transmission issue from coming from the front of the bellhousing of the transmssion instead or possibly a leaky manifold backfire? No need to run 93 octanein these trucks, the ECU is mapped for 87 and nothing else. Using 93 doesnt get you anything more than $$ out the tailpipe.
  18. The factory service manual will have the wireing diagrams and color codes for you to follow. You can download it off the site here.
  19. How doth the little crocodile Improve his shining tail,And pour the waters of the Nile On every golden scale! How cheerfully he seems to grin, How neatly spreads his claws, And welcomes little fishes in With gently smiling jaws!

  20. Oh wow thats cool! now you have something to do! Get at it and post pics!
  21. It depends on the part, some have a core charge that is billed up front and refunded back when the core is returned, some parts do not have a core charge at all. Please note, to get the core refunded it must be a Nissan part returned.
  22. Unfortunately yes, the buyer pays to ship cores (and part warranty claims) that is how Nissan has it worded in the paperworks, etc. but at least you dont pay tax. All the dealers are independent of each other so they would not do that for you. You may be able to talk them into offering the same price I give, never hurts to ask, worse they can say is no.
  23. Have you looked at the points on the rotor and the rotor head yet? If they are worn to nothing it could be that simple.
  24. Kind of sounds like a distributor or spark plug wires issue. Whatever it is, it is happeneing when the engine is under load. Check the FSM for the diagnositic proceedure for 'engine surging' and do the sub proceedure for 'under load'
