  2. How long have you had the truck. The reason I'm asking my 97 QX4 had a miss in it when I bought it I replaced everything known to man did not fix it previous owner had a timing belt put on that was my problem the timing belt was put on wrong it was a tooth off. Are you getting any check engine lights? If yes have you ran to see what the codes are? It doesnt make sense it missing when barely raising idle though. My miss and check engine light would go out as long as i never had to sit still for more than a few secs. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  3. Has the timing belt been replaced by chance. Just curious. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk

  6. Thank you sir. Tire carrier has been there the whole time. Its factory. I own a Quey as well. That might be whats confusing you. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  7. I finally got around to doing a little bit of the painting on the trim of my 96 Pathy. 7 step process 1.Scuff, 2.clean, 3.prime(2 coats), 4.24 hour dry, 5.light scuff, 6.clean, 7. paint(at least 2 coats or more if so desired) Using 3m scuff pad, rust-oleum self etching primer, rust-oleum matte black paint (Custom Shop) clean rags, oil and grease remover. I painted the running boards on my 97 Q six months ago and they still look as good as the day I painted them. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk

  9. The trip yielded some important R50 items I needed. A set of factory VDO Oil, Volt and Oil Temp gauges out of a Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible 89 model. Probably going to refurbish them and put them in my 97 Q. Also got the passenger side Pathy front right trim that connects to the bumper and the covers for the rear gate hinges#97jlr50 #infinitinorthamerica #r50speedoandtach #r50obsessed Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  10. When I turn to the distributor to try to get it in time I turn it clockwise so when I pull it back out do I need to go back a tooth counterclockwise or clockwise? Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  11. So should i just align the marks up like the FSM says and put it back in, or pull it out and move it one tooth? Forward or backwards direction on the one tooth? Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  12. I can get to 11BTDC but the hold down bolt prevents me from going any further. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  13. When installing the distributor I must have had my notches on the housing not lined up right because I used a timing light to time it but like I said I can't get it to 15 degrees BTDC because of the hold down bolt. Thanks I'll pull it out and drop it back in like you said see if that will work I really appreciate it thanks. See why this forum is the greatest on Earth you can't even get service like that if I took it to a Nissan / Infiniti dealer. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  14. Hey guys having a little bit of problems with my 96 R50 3.3. I've taken number one spark plug out rotated engine put number one piston on compression stroke made sure rotor on distributor was facing number one plug but when trying to time it I can only turn the distributor so far until the distributor hold down bolt prevents me from going any further anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be I've heard the old saying the distributor could be off a tooth but I know when I put the distributor in I put it in by aligning the marks on the housing like the fsm suggested. I installed a timing belt about 7 months ago. I don't have any issues with it missing or any codes coming up like p0300 or nothing like that Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  15. Where would the cooler line be? I know it's coming from the front of the engine or I think I do so if it is coming from the front and you're sitting in the rig would it be on the left right front or back side of the transmission? I want to install one as well. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk

  18. All 3.3's or 3.5's here, but will help in anyway we can. Exactly what@Slartibartfast said. Welcome to a great family. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  19. Ive had everything oh my Q painted for at least five months and everything still looks great. The key I think is making sure to put 2 coats of the primer and at least 2 if not 3 of the paint. I went 3 with the paint on both of mine. My Dad used it for his top on his Tracker almost a year ago now and it still looks really good.. It is garage kept though. Of course the anount of sun and weather as you know will im sure affect the long term results. Good luck. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  20. When it comes to attention detail, anyone on here who knows me knows im a clean freak. Always coming up with ways to make my ride stand out. Not on the 4wd side of it, but on the bone stock fixer upper staying bone stock side of it cleanliness. LOL!! I appreciate them allowing me to continue on NPORA even though i dont go offroading. Kudos to you guys. Ive owned 3 R50's so by my 3rd one i know all the ways of painting or upgrading parts from newer Pathys and Q's. Apperence of plastic parts on the outside and the bumpers the grills I've tried everything and anything and as far as I know what I'm about to show you is probably the best but I've come up with so far. Get 3M scratch pad two cans of Rust-Oleum self etching primer and 3 Rust-Oleum mate paint. I went ahead and scuffed the entire trim on the truck including the metal bumper that's part of the front fascia. You might want get you some rubber gloves because your hands will be black after scuffing everything. After you do that you need to wash it with Dawn dishwashing detergent or something that will remove the grease, oil and whatever else you sended it off. Dry It Off then apply two coats Rust-Oleum self etching primer. Sand in between coats lightly. After the two coats dry and sanded lightly apply the Rust-Oleum matte finish and just follow the directions on the can. Wallah! Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk

  23. The weather here in the Tennessee valley couldnt be better than its been the last month. Sunny days and cool nights with plenty of miles behind me. Thank you Lord for blessing me. Sent from my SM-S737TL using Tapatalk
  24. Ive been using Valvoline 5w30 full synthetic in my 97 Q for about for 6 months now and im very pleased. You can use 10w30 if your in a warmer climate, but i personally just stick with the 5w30. I also use the same full synthetic plus Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer in my 96 Pathy 3.3 and she purrs like a kitten. It has 250k on the odometer. When you buy an oil that is high mileage to me I think you're just wasting your money but it's really up to you. Whatever you prefer is honestly the best to use in your 3.3. Hope this helps.
