Huh, so its an auto-thing. Guess us 5sp'ers just wouldn't understand. I imagine if I was turning any lower RPM's, I'd probably have to shift on any hill or acceleration. That would be just a tad annoying when trying to roll in cruise control.

Does anyone out there have a 4 cyl.?
Mr. Pickles replied to 87pathfinder4banger's topic in Z24 Engine Discussion
I had a Z24 in my 85 pickup, here its supposedly (close to?) the same engine. It definately didn't have anything close to the power of my V6 Pathy. That thing was gutless. Not sure if your older Pathy's are gutless though... maybe I'm starting another 2 door/4 door war. -
3 5/8 quarts, per the owner's manual.

Is it really just simple for the steering? That was something that had me thinking I didn't want to mess with the body lift.
-
I get about 2600 RPM's at 65 or so, closer to 3000 at 70mph. That's with 31x10.5 BFG MT's. 88, did you change your gearing with your 33's?

Tires make probably the biggest difference of any 1 change. K&N filters and exhaust (Flowmaster/glasspack/etc.) are quick, cheap ways for more power.

I think we can all get our point across about the (*&^*%# stealers, that :furious: repair, etc. I don't see any need to let down the guard in the community. I'm as far as you can get from a censorship advocate, and can be quite foul myself. -argue- I just don't see the need for it here, where we're among friends having fun.

Started with an 85 Nissan King cab 4x4 with over 200K miles when I got it. It refused to die or get stuck, and got me through the rest of college. Many road trips, camping, skiing, etc. Sold that after a couple years and 255K miles for a Honda Prelude (big mistake). Finally traded that P.O.S. for my Pathy 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

Yup, can you say chop shop?

Crazy campus there, right in the middle of downtown. I toured with my brother when he was thinking about going there. PissU, very nice.

80 something Tempo, that is. I think the first year. Horrible car. A true Ford.
-
Got a friend who had an 90-something P.O.S. Ford Tempo that smelled bad of gas and ran bad. He kept driving and driving. One day we looked and discovered the carb was leaking fuel... and the exhaust was below. How it didn't become a torch on wheels, we don't know. :Magic: I wouldn't ride in it again though. Get if fixed for sure. We don't need any NPORA funerals.

Do you go to Portland State?

I had NGK's, I like these better.

This is a good time to consider keeping your tires close to stock size. If you're concerned about mileage, that is.

LOL. That's a lifetime mortgage, huh? But at least there's appreciation involved. Hmmm... freebies. How about tows and pulls? Jim would be the ultimate giver.
-
Well, I should have gone there. I just figured they wouldn't carry it because they didn't have plug wires when I checked for the price. I should never doubt them! I was there twice Sat. Its dangerous to be right across from Home Depot. Did GI Joes, then across to Home Depot, then back to GI Joes. A guy's paradise.

Yup, see Checkers, Kragen, & Shucks are all parts of the same company. I never went to Napa before, but now they're 2 blocks down the street and Schucks & others are a couple miles away. They really aren't bad at all, at least from what I've seen.
-
Geez Jim. Your area up and up through Burlington used to be our cheap gas stop on the way up to Bellingham. Now its just bad everywhere. By the way, 200003 total posts, huh? You've been a busy guy in the last few days.

Gotta adjust for exchange to US, then its about what, $2.40-2.50. Gotta love funny money.

Could this be a problem similar too/opposite of the headlight switch contacts inside the switch? Normally they stop touching/get dirty, causing your lights not to work. Maybe the contacts in the switch are stuck together. The power to the foglights comes from your headlights to the foglight switch, then to the relay, which turns on the foglights, so if the headlight stays on, that explains the foglights staying on as well.

Looks VERY slick. I wanna try! By the way, how much did those wires cost you? Cheaper than stock replacements?
-
I searched the local shops (Schucks, etc.), and was quoted about $32 for the cap & $10 for the rotor. Ouch. Throw in a set of Bosch Platinum 2's and, with tax, it was around $75. Then suprise, Napa beat them all by far. $19 for the cap, $6 for the rotor, out the door for jsut over $50. Still not sure if this was a "deal," but it beat the hell out of the other stores I tried. What have the rest of you paid?
-
The plugs I replaced were NGK. Yes they were old, but there was a definate help. It could be the combination of new plugs, cap & rotor, but there is a difference and I'm happy with them.
