  1. Just picked up the cans this weekend, going after black rims....
  2. Definitely sounds like an alternator to me.
  3. Sometimes in CA though you can get away with it if the motor is a model year newer or optional on the vehicle? I'm not sure, the laws are obscure and I've yet to do it haha
  4. Looks great! Thanks for showing us the closeups A.
  5. I do too! Great traction, quiet, and excellent wear. Plus not too bad on the wallet. Sorry to hear that, if you're going to swap, my pipe dream is a Titan motor, might be worth looking into. Or you can always build up the VQ a bit.
  6. Looks great! We have the same taste in tires, out of curiosity, why does it need a new motor?
  7. That's a great idea! And actually not too $$$, should help off road. In my case, that would be really handy in parallel parking, as my rear hitch sticks pretty far out, and I'm always worried about harpooning whoever I'm backing up towards.
  8. Jumped ship: converted from Android to iPhone...

  10. So it's time for the 'Merc to get some new shocks in the rear. It's a '95 E320 (W124) with 110k miles, and I'm looking to retain a smooth ride but increase the handling a bit. I have wider tires on already, just bought the Sportline size 205s vs. my non-sportline 195s and want to continue the trend of improving performance. I have Bilstein 4600 HDs on my Pathy, and love them, so I'd like to stay in the family. Bilstein HDs are available but are a bit on the ridiculous side of pricing for me- $198 each.... might as well get lowering springs if I went that route. So those are out, but there are Touring shocks available (twintube) http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A5661A0A0.aspx And also sports (monotube) http://www.autoanything.com/suspension-systems/61A5658A0A0.aspx I was curious if any of you have experience with either and could recommend one over the other. Thanks!
  11. Never heard that about the MXV4s, they're literally the quietest tire I've ever run across. I have 40k miles on them on my Lincoln and are still extremely smooth and nearly silent. Maybe the Max has less sound deadening? Or the tires don't like temperature change? Or a different model all together? Maybe just bad luck all around
  12. Wow, I love the level of agitation over tires of all things. Anyway, maybe Ford is trying to boost their tire reputation by putting on capable tires After a debacle at Sam's Club, just bought some Michelin Primacy MXV4s for the 'Merc at America's Tire. Went with H rated and a little bit wider- very happy. $112 a tire, and with a $100 rebate so out the door wasn't too bad.
  13. PO took decent care of it, though left a cheap bottle jack, and assorted tools in the back, plus a Korean/US Marine Corps calendar? Plus extremely dirty door hinges, and oh yeah, had the rear repainted with what seems like an etch-a-sketch. I took off one of the factory badges, only to essentially find a burned-in layer of paint around its silhouette... And the side panels have some serious waves and dings, oh well, bought to use.
  14. First of all, when it comes to tires I never want to go with the cheapest possible. I read the reviews and buy what suits my needs and has the best performance. For instance, my Lincoln has Michelin Primacy MXV4s, I have Toyo Open Country AT-IIs and my Ram has Wrangler Duratracs. None are cheap tires, but they make the singularly largest difference in each's ride, handling, and traction. OEMs seem to have no idea on what tires to equip, and for safety purposes a premium tire is a good idea- better handling, sometimes fewer blowouts, and better traction in transient conditions. To me, tires are one of the most important parts of any vehicle, and not worth skimping on.
  15. Or it squeaks like a mofo a week after flexing...
  16. Looks good, you sure love that cargo cover Just messin' with you. One classy ride that'd make a great roadtrip vehicle I bet. I think it's look great with a big old cargo rack on top, plus some odds and ends like smaller rims with high profile tires. Very nice either way.
  17. Again, looks sweet! How exactly did you manage to muck up the hub?
  18. You know you drive an R50 when everything is pretty much the same as in a car, but not...
  19. Is it too much to ask for Yakety Sax to be played at my funeral?

So this guy's models/point of view skills are off the charts. Kinda makes me wish they were real, but considering the number of classics "destroyed", not so much. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24796741@N05/ The Article http://www.carthrottle.com/these-1950s-pictures-are-messing-with-your-mind/
