  1. I'm planning on keeping it original and for the most part leaving it alone. I like the "commercial" truck look, without all the chrome etc. and it's pretty much already there. I personally hate model A hot rods, so don't fret If I were to hop something up, it'd be a 32 repro with the 5.0 coyote motor or a 49 Merc lead sled.
  2. Notice the Karmann Ghia across the driveway, it's the other 40 horse unit The old ford has the same top speed too! Thank you, and it really is amazing- you actually see the fuel slosh around in the gauge, and the speedo rotates around panoramically. I love it. And I'm not quite sure, though looking at the fixtures I don't think so, it may just be an alternator upgrade from a generator.... I honestly have a lot to read, I know a good amount about aircooled VWs, and obviously Pathfinders and odds and ends, but nothing like this. Learning is always good though!
  3. New platinum Die Hard solved my starting, flickering, and radio issues.

  4. Pretty cool. There was a MightyCarMods with one versus the Blue Turd, a little Daihatsu these Aussies souped up.
  5. Those years will fit 245/75r16s which correlate to a 30.5" tire. That's what I have in the Toyo Open Country ATIIs. Off roading isn't solely about ground clearance, I used to think so, but so many trips at my now 9.1" of ground clearance have proved to me that it isn't. Just drive carefully with a brain and the Pathy will pull you through. They are very capable, reliable, comfortable, and a whole lot cheaper than the 4runner. Plus if you get an 01 or above you do earn the VQ which is quite a nice motor, and if I'm not mistaken has about 60hp over the Toyota's 3.4.... something to consider when you're merging on the freeway. Hardware wise, yes they're at a disadvantage in terms of aftermarket support, BUT the factory components are quite solid, as previously said- 33 spline locking T-Case and rear diff with a 28 spline front axle. Factory equipped with 4.64 gears and a rear diff that's quite stout. Test drive the two and see what you like, what sold me on the Pathy was the motor and how much tighter it felt on the street vs the 4runner, FZJ80 land cruiser, Xterra, and Montero. And the price- I picked mine up for $5900 with 70k miles.
  6. I'm not religious at all, but I love me some Elvis Gospel
  7. Neat! Going to Japan is pretty high on my bucket list.
  8. Frankly if there was a Patrol in the US, I'd just take the whole thing
  9. So over the weekend, I just picked up another project vehicle- a 1931 Ford Model A pickup. I figured I would share All the parts on it are original with no rust, so I'm one happy camper. It ran last year, and has a few dimples, but I kinda prefer it since it was designed strictly as a truck afterall. A blazing 40hp Original hood ornament Very tall and skinny tires... A reproduction gas ration card Right now I'm seeing if the battery will hold a charge, and I'm going to drain the tank and move up from there. Hope you enjoyed!
  10. My transmission does that exact thing, it seems to be pretty normal. Not only that but some delayed engagement/slipping in shifting from 1-2 and sometimes 2-3 is well documented on this forum and also very normal. It's not a ticking time bomb haha
  11. Welcome to The Land of Odd, are those manual hubs on the front end?
  12. When you have the exact same specs as a new Xterra Off Road edition, for less than 1/3 the cost.
  13. Could I please have the full scale version?
  14. I'd definitely let them take it considering how close the fire is, plus being able to say your pool water put out your neighbor's fire is pretty cool. Great piloting.
  15. Took the plunge on some Rigids...

Dude, you should have held on for my review of the $100 24" led bar I got off Fleabay. Still, if I had your money I'd buy Rigid's also! LOL

  16. Well I'm close enough to so much of it from Little Saigon, must be rubbing off
  17. When you can only be towed from the front right tow hook, or all hell breaks loose (according to the manual).
  18. The longest I've gone after getting it muddy was 1 week, and I always do a full top to bottom cleaning. I hate having it caked on the underside, and I'm pretty anal about the interior. As it's my daily, I wash it from street use every two weeks or so. Soap and water, microfiber wash mitt, grit-guard buckets, tires cleaned and shined, wipe out the interior; the works. It and the Ram get neglected every now and then though, as I end up washing the Mercedes and Lincoln every other week.
  19. When you blow past every 4runner, just to say "up yours."
  20. Wow, good on you! What kind of jack is that that you're using?
  21. Same here... When you laugh at guys upgrading their trucks, broncos, jeeps, everything to 4.56 gears when you have stock 4.63s....
  22. My idea exactly, even if the science is somewhat shaky at points, I figure the extra visibility can't hurt. Plus that could possibly stop me from having to turn on my headlights when we get the soupy fog. There is so much traffic here, every bit counts.
