  1. I like the look personally, if it's cleanly done. I'm trying to refresh the front end of my pathfinder with some semi-jdm touches. It also is proven to add visibility and some studies suggest, reduce daytime accidents. They're required on all new cars in Europe so there is some science behind them. I think they could at least help in dusty conditions. Yeah I typically do, but they're very popular in my part of SoCal and have been starting to grow on me. I think I will go with Option 3 when the chance arises. It seems like the most 'factory' location.
  2. When the biggest upgrade to the brakes only makes them adequate.
  3. Haha I haven't bought them yet, just doing a sanity check. But my favorite so far is the Philips Daylight 4 system. They're the supplier for Mercedes, and have the best rated add-on out there. They automatically can turn off when you turn on the headlights, and have a super easy wiring and mounting kit included.
  4. Option 3 mounted, Philips has an app.... I actually really like it. Thoughts?
  5. Or option 3, in the highest slat(s) in the factory foglight cover
  6. So I'm thinking of adding some LED Daytime Running Lights to the front of the Pathy. I really like the look on some, and absolutely hate it on others. I think it could pull it off. I just don't want it to look too rice or JC Whitney gone wild. Here's where I'm thinking, I'm preferrential to Option 1, because it utilizes the factory slide-out. I'm talking about the LED strips as seen here, just a little shorter. And I know it's mostly aesthetic and has nothing to do with actual trail performance, but I'm looking for opinions I suppose they could be handy in dusty conditions, marking my front end without me actually having to turn on my parking lamps. DRLs do have some science behind them.... Thanks!
  7. Mine doesn't eat any.... When you have an SUV with a tonneau cover for the cargo area, because you're a classy b@stard.
  8. In the same vein: When your $6k Pathy sees a lot more mud than a $40k jeep.
  9. When you have to deal with recalls like the entire front suspension falling out, cancerous rust, and airbags with shrapnel. (I still love my R50)
  10. Love the CJ! Honestly get some cheap M/Ts off of Craigslist, a set of mechanical lockers (spools even?) and wheel that thing! Just try not to break your back in the process, I tweaked mine in a flying YJ....that's all I have to say about that
  11. Forum game, say Pathfinder specific issues/eccentricities/fun. You know you drive a Pathfinder when EVERYONE calls it a 4runner, even though it isn't even a Toyota.
  12. Shoot, well I hope you kicked their @$$ for the rest of us...
  13. Brilliant! I'm going to see if this will work. And to 96Pathfinder4x4, this is the 3/16" steel set from 4x4 parts.
  14. Here is my setup- I have an 18" Magnaflow dual in single out, welded to the factory pipe. Removed resonator and polished tip. Cost me about $400 when all said and done. Very nice tone, and a small mpg gain. I filmed a little too close, but you get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jraEGmb10_4
  15. #MightyCarMods But seriously, I'm interested in an upgrade to the brakes too.
  16. Precisely, but there's nothing with two bolts under there so far as I can tell. It's a quandary.
  17. Well that's the best part, I've called them before only to hear "bolt it up to the gas tank skid" by an ill spoken technician. I really don't want to have to do custom work on supposedly bolt on parts that I paid $550 for when all said and done. Not just now, but before. I bought them back in December and have been too lazy/unmotivated to put this final one on. If only it just bolted on.
  18. The plate Bracket + Hardware Under- the 90* bend lines up with the center skidplate... But the bracket doesn't. In this position I would need to drill another hole in the skidplate, and potentially modify the gas tank skid mount. This is the view directly from the rear center hole.
  19. I've tried lining it up, but the supplied bracket doesn't really line up with anything, even though supposedly it hooks up with the gas tank skid. Yes, I do have the mid mounted skid, and it does line up, but it need something to support the rear end of the skid, so it doesn't flop down.
  20. Do above maintenance, take off the running boards and mudflaps, throw on some off road-y 245/75r16s, get a tow strap and wheel it! I've basically done that and out of the box its capability astounding IMO. See what you "need" for your area. In my case it's skids, upgraded shocks, recovery points, off road lights, manual hubs, tucked exhaust, a sleeping platform and some odds and ends. Never lifted it and it does very well.
  21. So I've had the 4x4parts rear skidplate sitting around the garage for a while, and I'm wondering, how the f*** does it mount? I have the front and center skid mounted, plus all the hardware that came with it. Here's the skid, any help is much appreciated https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/pathfinder-rear-skid-plate-p-3454.html
  22. From ExPo, and specifically Stioc. Factory WD21 transfer case skid, which fits R50s, cost reportedly $25 (Bottom post) http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/82167-My-2001-Pathfinder-(R50-)-mild-budget-build/page40 Skid Plate Part # 30409-33G00 Bolts 2 x 33201-33G10 2 x 08121-0201E
  23. I just turned the rotors and drums, and put on Hawk Gold Ceramic front pads (Like them better than EBC, have had both) and standard Wagner rear pads. The ABS definitely works, I even felt it today coming down a loose dirt hill. (That and stopping for a moose ) It seems to engage at 75% pedal pressure and above, especially in rain, or anything slick. It's saved my bacon countless times.
  24. I have 82,000 miles on mine right now- my trip to Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho should fix that Shooting for 200k, and have put on 10k in under 6 months...
